I definitely think you should get another monitor...

Was pondering using my 2408 in a similar way. How is the neck strain? Was also thinking about doing the same with a 1920x1200 22" monitor (hard to find though) for increased pixel denisty and less head movement.

I meant up and down, 24" is quite tall to stand on end I found.

I love the stands on the dell monitors. I have one as well, switching from portrait to landscape is nice.

I have the same exact setup, except my landscape monitor is on the right.
