Rofl @ "top notch cable management"
Glad you like it ;) my last gaming setup post people gave me a hard time for not having enough cable management shots.
Do you mind linking to the cable trays? I've been looking for some just like those but haven't been able to find any decently priced like yours
THANK YOU! great set up by the way
I have a pre built one on my ikea desk and im thinking about grabbing one of these for the other side( corner desk )! love the setup!
Beautiful setup, but what charging station is that for the gs3?
Its just some cheep one i found on Newegg a while ago.
I'm also interested in this
Note user, am also interested
All screens are IPS
Do you only have one 6950 to run all of the screens or in crossfire?
Only one for now. Going to pick up another card soon.
Crossfire will make that setup at least 40% more awesome.
I think I will just end up getting the top of the line 800 series when that comes out. My experience with my 6950 is pushing me to jump off the AMD ship.
Even better. I'm an nvidia guy myself. I just wasn't going to try to convert you haha
Jump the AMD ship, I recently got SLi 770s and they RAPE
I love your set up. How much did everything cost over all?
At a rough and dirty guess I would say right around $3400.
I thought about using that method for mounting my triple monitors, but ultimately decided to go with a desktop stand.
Can you elaborate on the sound reactive LEDs?
Amazon Led kit pared to a led control box that adds sound reactive tech. I don't have a video of my current setup and the LEDs but I do have a video of my old setup.
Mine is an older version of that but they do the same thing. The controllers are even the same.
I'm more interested in the how, but videos are cool too.
I'm jealous. This setup is absolutely beautiful.
Do you game with your seat low like that? I would think it would be uncomfortable to have my arms meeting the desk so high like that, but that's just me.
I do game like that, I'm used to it. The desk also has rounded edges to make resting arms on there less painful.
Woot, second time I have made the front page. :)
How did you put those speakers into the wall?
What do you have powering those speakers?
Those are quite a bit better than the cheapies I linked. Do you get any echo from the wall cavity with them? We use the MP ones as work and they are fantastic, but so loud that they echo slightly in the ceiling (since it's a drop ceiling with a huge cavity).
No echo that I can tell. They sound great even at max volume.
Don't know if you've heard them, but I'm using the 8" version of the monoprice speakers you linked in my 7.1 surround setup -- I'm much more impressed with them than the 5.25".
We will be moving and rebuilding that lab later this year, I'll keep them in mind thanks :)
They are in wall speakers
Wow, KUDOS sir! Shit, that gave me the so much nerd-wood it's ridiculous. I mean, I am always checking out Gaming setups and I have a moderate set-up I am proud of... But, you sir, you take the cake! You win my vote for Internet of the Day!
Thank you kindly good sir.
It too is my cake day, and I applaud your gaming setup.
Nice setup What type of monitors and holders are youusing? I am using 3 30" monitors
Its 1920x1200 but it does boil down to money. I already had one 1920x1200 screen and my 6950 would not handle the 2560x1440/1600. So if I had gone that route it would have been 3 new monitors and at least one new video card.
Mind posting links to your wallpapers?
I love this kinda gaming setup but I am very interested as to the purpose of the LEDs? I get that they are beautiful and purely cosmetic but you say they are sound reactive, how does that play into gaming? What are the perks of creating a set up like this?
They are just on one color when I play games. The sound reactive was more a " I can do it cheaply, so why not". It also looks really cool when I am rocking out or am having a party.
The lights help against eye strain when looking into the bright screens when the room is dark. It also adds a nice ambience to the room. I would highly recommend adding some to your setup.
Thanks for that. Eye strain avoidance makes sense, but the lights reacting to sound is interesting and new to me. What is the motivation behind doing that?
Looks cool is my guess. Nothing more nothing less. Lol
Pic#5 makes me think the case is a Thor v2
I have one too, do you have any pics of the interior? i want to see your cable management :D
One the cables are in the management trays I don't want to see them so I have them facing the way I do. Its kind of pain to get too but after I got it set up the first time, I don't have much need to mess with it.
I love this setup! It's beautiful bro
And god said "let there be velcro" and the people where happy.
What is your occupation to afford such nice stuff ?!
Tech support/owning a rental home. I'm all of 24 years old btw.
Good on you man, keep it up!
Very nicely done! May I ask which swing arms you have and where you ordered? I want some :)
Really nice station. Could you tell me how you have attached the middle screen to the corner of your wall? Have you just stuck it on one side and bent it around the corner?
Yeah, The wall mount arm is bolted into a stud on the right hand wall then extended in such a way to put the monitor in the corner.
What receiver are you using to drive those speakers???
From the side you look like Dwight from The Office
Could feed a small city with all that rice
Excellent setup. Rocking the ol' G15 eh? Mines still going strong.
Very, very nice. This is exactly the kind of gaming setup I love to see on this coolcomputersetups, and why I subscribed in the first place. Your station is very well thought out, and beautiful as well. Love the idea of having the speakers in the wall, and your monitors are killing me.
One of the best computer setups I've seen so far.
Can I ask what deskclock app you're using on your GS3?
Why the hell is your subwoofer sitting on its side?
Terrific set up. Just be careful running the power cables through the wall. It's against code in a lot of places. Look into something like a PowerBridge to help with that.
I am using in wall rated power cables and have checked code in my area. Everything is on the up and up.
Are you connecting with dvi, hdmi, and minidisplay to dvi?
Almost, Dvi, HDMI and minidisplay port to VGA. I would have thought the VGA connection would have been bad, but it works just fine.
Well, I'm just going to pack up and go home now, because nothing in my life will ever live up to this piece of art. Congratulations sir.
Work hard and save up some money. There are other people on here that have setups that make mine look like a joke. You will have a badass setup like this or better before you know it.
Noob question: what is that awesome device on the left, next to your keyboard?
Think this is useful for strategy games like Frozen Throne?
Beautiful gaming setup! saving for future plans ;)
Looks cool. However, the 18th picture... it makes my hands hurt.
Would love a G13 but I dont have space for it :(
Do what I did, make a larger desk. :)
Share it with GF and current living conditions :(
I am debating whether or not to get a g13, would you say it's worth it?
Im just not sure...
I have a G13, yeah it's great. You have to keep in mind it will never replace a full keyboard. Another thing to keep in mind, there are no hard coded media keys on it. If you want to change volume or the likes you will need a traditional method. That's probably the only reason I keep my G15 around with a bluetooth Apple aluminum keyboard as the everyday.
Yeah OFC its not a replacement, but how much adjustment do we talk about here? Going from close to 20 years of regular keyboard gaming to something new!
Well in some cases it's much easier then others. So for some games there are prebuilt layouts you can download. These will setup your macros as you would expect, but that means you wouldn't "know" where all the keys are instinctively. There are ways around this and situations where it doesn't really matter. An example of the latter is when you use the BF3 settings. They are how you would expect them to be on the keyboard, so you wouldn't need to know the exact layout. The way around this is to rollback the version of the software the game pad uses. This will allow you to display on screen the macro of the key you have pressed. The fall back is that it breaks the joysticks ability to work as a joystick. But then again if you try it you will probably not use it very much. But that is my experience. I'll put it this way, I play a lot of BF3 and a lot of CoH. I wouldn't play either game with a keyboard any more, mostly because it is much more ergonomical, (pretty sure that's not even a word), and fits better then using the full keyboard and re moving it every time I adjust my seating. Basically I like it but it's a bit pricey for what it is.
I just wish Logitech would re-release it with mechanical switches =( I love mine. I can play on a regular kb but prefer to use my G13.
A few weeks ago i went check to see if there was a new version, but it has been the same one for like 6 years :(
Yea the price is really what I was worried about, I don't know if I can justify a $70 non necessary gaming peripheral.
All I can say is that you have to make yourself use it to get started, but it doesn't take long. However, once you are used to it, it becomes equally uncomfortable to not have it....
I use the g13, and I love it! I use it for games like world of warcraft, which uses a lot of macro keys, but I also use it for photoshop functions, and things like that. It's a lot of exta buttons, which has been great for me! I haven't used other macro keyboards like it though, so I don't know how it is compared to the other options.
I got a G13 about a year ago. I work at my computer all the time with various different pieces of software and still haven't been able to integrate it into my workflow.
It does have a learning curve but after about 2 weeks of using it everyday I don't know how I went without it for so long. I also have one at work now as well.
I have a Razer Nostromo, which is basically the same idea. The only things I have found it useful for are MMOs, or othe games involving a lot of keys, unfortunately.
What is your left hand touching on picture #17? Also, well done with the gaming setup.
This is the nicest gaming setup I've seen in a while. Great work with the screens + lighting + speaker mounting!
I have the same case but doesn't the LEDS in the case not look as good as if it was a windowed side panel? I am thinking about taking out the mesh on mine and making it a window and then putting LEDs in it
I've also thought about doing that. Project for another day I guess.
Just requires a mechanical keyboard and a nice pair of headphones and this computer setup in will be sexily complete!
I do have a pair of vmoda headphones. The mechanical keyboard is coming with my next tax return.
What keyboard are you going with?
I meant the mechanical keyboard you were planning on buying.
Its not out yet. I'm waiting for RBG full color mechanical keyboards to hit the market. I like options on my lighting if you can't tell already.
Makes sense, hopefully some company will come up with one, but do 3mm RGB LEDs even exist?
I love them, they are very stable and are adjustable. I would recommend them to anyone.
Having speakers in the wall like that is fuckin smart. Such a great look and idea!
Thanks. I love stuff to be as clean looking as possible and I also hate having things on my desk so that was why i did what I did.
How are the wall mounted speakers treating you? Where'd you pick them up?
I just started working on an Ikea desk. What did you finish the counter top with?
I just started working on an Ikea desk. What did you finish the counter top with?
Just some red oak stain i had and a coat of polly
I tried this myself. Didn't work out as I had hoped, unfortunately. Scrapped it and went out and bought an actual desk. My question for you, how did you get the L-shape? Looks great!
Cut the last 2 feet off of one end and attached it to the side. Ikea sells the steal support frame for there galant desks for $30. I bought one of those and just used that to support the two slabs of oak. I attached the legs to this support frame as well.
How did u make the legs for the desk?
I bought them from Ikea. They are the Galant desk legs.
Do they really? I couldn't find it on the website...
You have to go pick though the store itself. I live about 20 minutes away from an Ikea store so whenever I am dreaming up a project I go poke around at Ikea to see if they have anything I could use.
First thought: FREE THOSE SPEAKERS! Second thought: Those speakers, throw them away, get some decent ones and give 'em air to breathe! Third thought: Well, nice gaming setup apart from that, good job :)
Okay, although I find that hard to believe (I honestly never heard good quality wall speakers <1000 bucks), I can see that you have something to compare and since I have not (Never heard this exact model), maybe you are right and they are not that bad ;)
They're better than what most people have. Give him a break.
Maybe they are. But the fact that many people have even worse loudspeakers does not make his better. Speakers just do not belong into walls, it is always a workaround for places, where they really should not be seen. A gaming setup is not one of those places ;)
What gpu are you using to run that...?
Its listed in the comments but I am a nice guy. The GPU is a overclocked version of the 6950.
Mia culpa, thought that # was in reference to the mobo
It's my cake day, credit plz.
My only regret is that I don't have a cat in one of my pictures. Think of all the Karma I lost because of that. :(
1/10 on the lighting? What was wrong with the lighting? It was done correctly from what I can see.
Did you build that desk yourself? If not where did you get it? If so then how did you go about building something like that? Epic computer setup!
The desk is my own design. The parts are all from Ikea. The top started out as an 8' slab of oak counter-top. The legs and support frame are parts from the Galant desk that they sell. I just bought the parts of the desk I needed.
