I have to agree with this. As pleasing as this build is, it's just that, a build. Maybe OP could add some pictures of his gaming setup to go with this phenomenal computer?
Yeah, sorry about that :) I thought that this was the proper place for this kind of stuff. But I guess I will have to upload some pics of my battle-station. I live at my parents house over for a few more weeks now before i move back to my place :)
Wow.
I didn't think the BeQuiet! cooler would fit in that case.
There is around 1 mm left between the sidepanel and the cooler, so its a tight fit ;)
Guess I won't be getting that cooler, then. :p
Ah, okay :) Well, the Corsair fan is not very noisy but there are better fans out there :)
Chassi: SilverStone TJ08B-E
Mobo: Asus ROG Maximus IV Gene

You are a good man ^^
Yeah, it is not house-trained yet and I don't want it to take a dump inside ;)
How do your temps compare between the cases? Really liking the mATX build great job!
Thanks man :) Well, the temps don't differ that much. Maybe around 5 degrees Celsius hotter on the GPU and the CPU is pretty much unchanged. The fans are making a very good job of ventilating the case :)
How did you know it would all fit? also, what if you decide to upgrade in the future and it doesnt fit anymore? what then?
Well, I just checked the dimensions for the different componets, thats it :) And if i want to upgrade something they will fit, becaus the 7970 is one of the longets single GPU cards and i am in no need of ever upgrading the CPU-cooler :)
Yeah I'm never going bigger than a micro atx again
Same. I'm looking at my Fractal Design R3 ATX case and thinking "Why the hell do I need something that big"
Here we see that computer in its natural envrionment. it is truly a beautiful part of nature.
It is stalking its pray, the noob!
Qucikly... RUN BEFORE IT GOES FOR KILL... sizzle
That would work to ^
Could you also give some impressions on the cooler? I'm looking at sticking it in my R4.
It is a great cooler! I is a big chunk of metal tho, 1,2 kg :) It is very quiet, with BeQuiets! SilentWing fans, one 120 mm in the front and one 135 mm between the towers, they rev like 600 rpm most of the time and on full speed they do 1450ish rpm. BeQuiet! them self claim that this cooler is good for 220W TDP. I love it :)
Do you find that GPU cooler to be as obnoxiously loud as I did? I ended up removing it for a 7970 hybrid liquid cooler cause it was so friggin loud.
Yeah, it ins kinda loud when it starts too rev up. A Asus Direct CuII would have been a better choice I guess :)
What's the model of the small case? It looks well.
It is a SilverStone TJ08B-E :)
What graphics card are you using? :)
XFX 7970 3Gb. Not GHz edition :)
Nice. Just wanted to know so I could work out if my card would fit. :P
I think you can fit practicly any card on there. As long as you remove the harddrive case
Great build! i have that case too but holy hell its compact inside, the top bay crushed all your psu cables if u put a cd drive in there and the upside down-ness is aggrivating!! I have to tilt my head upside down to read the error codes if i get one xD overall great case though
I did put the PSU "the wrong way" becaus I wanted to use it as a extra exhuast. I know that it is supposed to go the other way :) Glad you like the build :)
Great build! I would have gone mATX if Gigabyte made a nice mobo that natively supports OSX. But for now, I'm happy with my Arc Midi R2.
I am not i fan of ioz, but it is nice that gigabyte does that :)
From rumors that I've heard Apple wants to make mobile and computer OS the same.
Deeper integration maybe, but definitely not the same. I mean they just revealed two huge updates to both iOS and OS X that are slated to release this fall. Even if that were true, it's a long ways off.
Like I said it was just a rumor that I had heard. I use OSX and after I updated to Lion I didn't see the point in updating to Mountain Lion and I won't update again unless some feature of interest shows up, unlikely. On Windows though I am on Windows 8 and I'll probably keep that up to date.
Apple, unlike Microsoft, understands that difference. While they're converging in appearance, the design remains distinct and focused. They take ideas off each other, but I doubt they'll ever fully converge (unless apple releases a touchscreen mac or something to bridge that gap).
Where can you buy those be quite coolers? Can't find em any where.
I brought mine at a swedish retailer,
Inet.se :)
Not to be a downer but can we see your workstation? Nice build/case BTW.
I will get some pics of that as well. Just that I live with my parents for the summer, but I will be back at my place in a few weeks. Then i can get some pics of my battle-station :)
Love that micro ATX setup
Hey, I also have the Stryker. Love it!
I want to do this, too poor at the moment. I can't wait to start my first mATX build.
What did you end up doing with the fulltower and motherboard. I have the same tower (stryker) and have often thought of downsizing, but I vcouldn't justify the the other parts just sitting around
This is beautiful. She's a tear jerker, OP. Great work. Makes me want to build a mini-ITX rig.
Thanks! Yeah mATX of mITX is the best, I don't see the upsides with having a bigger rig anymore :)
Looks nice, and clean. I'm currently running three video cards and a full water loop in a mid tower with a corsair ax1200 psu, and I have nightmares of putting it together...
Wow nice presentation on the chassi pics.
Nice Video to follow along with.
I love how to took it outside to take mode picks, LOL.
Outstanding, this definitely deserves more bookmarks
