Computer Setup

About 81c for CPU 10c higher than in the case, but nothing to worry about, I think they'll go down once I get the fan in there
I would cut a intake vent and then exhaust in the bottom as it looks like there is some clearance may be out of some pvc using the fan as an exhaust. you could also use the psu as an exhaust fan as well. over all its a really cool idea.
It may sound stupid, but make sure that the intake and exhaust are as far apart as possible. It irritates me when I see the intake and exhaust side by side.
Exactly! And why not put the arm for the monitor on the box? That away it's independent of the couch!
The ottoman is not heavy enough and would tilt over, also too low
That would defeat the purpose of both intake and exhaust
If I'm not mistaken, he means it was 71c, rather than 81c, when it was in the case. That is the 10c difference he its talking about.
Is this 81c on idle?
Nooooo 81c under stress test
Thank god, op i was getting palpitations
Now VNC controll a primary PC on your TV and index all your movies. That would be sweet.
If you put a wooden lip inside the ottoman and stuck the motherboard to a thin piece of wood/metal/plastic, you could put the motherboard upside down inside the ottoman, and by cutting out the bottom you could ventilate it discreetly.
It's all good until someone tries to move the ottoman. ._.
I've got a habit of kicking my ottoman around to move it. Might as well straight kick a PSU.
Wow, that's pretty amazing. I love how you just put your computer inside that foot-rest/stool. Is there any airflow in there? Also, could you give us the specs of that computer?
No airflow (yet) and temps nothing to worry about,. Intel I7920 12GB Corsair Dominator 1600 Ram (Triple Channel) GTX 560TI Asus P6X58D Platinum Mother Board 1000W Modular PSU
Wow, those are some pretty overpowered specs for a computer that you're using with a touchscreen monitor.
If I were you, I would have just put in an AMD APU or an Intel CPU (with integrated graphics), 4 gigs of ram, around 500gb of storage, and a lower power supply. I can't really use a touchscreen computer for gaming or video/photo editing, I'd probably just use it for web-browsing. It just doesn't feel right without a mouse and keyboard.
Eve online would be pretty great on his set up though.
You should consider adding some fans.
This is really fucking cool. Awesome job! How are the temperatures in that thing?
CPU hovers around 81c, I'm gonna get a fan in there to bring airflow up
I've got a Corsair H70, maybe I'll mount that on the side
Well sure, if you already have the H70 then use it.
One does not simply mount a radiator to an Ottoman....
If I had ever read this post anywhere else, I think my mind would be blown.
If you could add in a way to have a gap all around the top of the cover, you could get rid of some of the heat.
That is really sick! This might be a dumb question to ask but if you play games where do you put your mouse and keyboard or do you jsut use the touch for Internet and touch only applications?
I put the keyboard on my lap, and the mouse on a hard cover book next to me, or on the couch cushion depending on the level of mouse-accuracy I need. Works like a charm
Ok. Well anyway great idea and really cool setup that is. Sit on the couch, pull up your screen, and play. Perfect. Enjoy your gaming setup. :)
First off, Great idea and excellent job executing it. If you wanted to clean the wires up even more you could go for something like this! What did you to the couch itself? The cover seems to look loose fitting or something, personally it would bother me.
Its my girlfriends shitty couch, and her even shittier slip cover. which is why I drilled six holes into it and mounted a computer arm to it!
Great Idea OP, but like everyone else I think why don't you mount the h70 at the bottom, with a fan on top, then see if you can use a dust filter, would make it easier to clean as you're going to get a lot of dust from a carpet.... If you put some gap in the lid, why not suspend a 200mm, mid way up to help with pulling air up through the case? Nice build though op, fret job!
Have you thought about using a Media Center connector or something similar on the TV so you can control the TV from your Gaming setup? Awesome build man by the way.
Brilliant IDEA! I shall try this sometime!
