So.. you downgraded your computer so you couldn't play games? I'm confused.
Pretty much. I lost my job and having a gaming computer as your main computer leads to a lot of gaming and not a lot of making money as stated in the title. So I had to put my good computer somewhere I could concentrate when I use it.
Ahh I totally understand that. Whenever I need to focus on something school related, I have to undock my mbp and go to a completely different room to focus.
Yeah, I spent 3 hours doing cable management on the desk. I took everything off of it then putting it back piece by piece with cable ties.
Upvote for cat cameo appearance. :)
Of course, wouldn't be a true coolcomputersetups post without a cat somewhere.
Love the desk. Where is it from?
It's from IKEA, it's one of the build it yourself desks.
I think this is not the way to do it. If you really enjoyed your work you could do it on powerful computer even faster than on this. My advice - get new job. The REALLY job, not just money earning slavery.
You're wrong. I don't need a powerful graphics card or CPU (Intel HD 4000) to use Sublime text 2. I need a graphics card with enough power to handle dual-monitors and that's what I have.
To op, I am going down this road. Ive been sitting here all night wondering if I continue to try and integrate my gamer into my workflow or just remove it completely and have two separate areas.
Yeah, it takes a lot of control to be able to concentrate and motivate yourself to do work on a computer that is capable of maxing out any game you try to play on it. Sadly I don't have this control or motivation so I was forced to make a decision and I put my gaming computer inside an office in the city center. That way I have somewhere to go to focus on work and if I decide I want to do some work at home than I don't have any distractions with this computer because it can barely run Minecraft.
I have to thank you for your post. I have been racking my brains all weekend, searching forums etc looking for someone else in my position to help make the judgement call.
You're welcome. It's a tough decision, but it's one that has to be made. Good luck with your build(s).
