How does your 670 handle 1440P? I have a 670 4GB SC, and contemplate 1440 every fucking day.
It works just fine, right now I've been playing mostly Dota 2 and get about 120fps on average. When I play BF3 on pretty high settings I get about 40-60fps at 1440p.
Definitely on high at 1440p, most of my setting run on ultra besides the AA since my CPU is the bottleneck. I'm hoping to get a fx-8350 in the future. Going from 22" to 27" is also a plus.
Awesome, thanks for the replies.
How did you overclock your monitors? im asking as im stuck on triple monitor setup limited to 50-60hertz refresh(just a tid bit below standard and at standard). though one monitor pulls 75 hertz...
Isn't your PSU upside down blowing heat directly at the video card?
Some PSUs pull form inside and exhaust out the back.
Interesting. It still seems like it would be cleaner to flip it so the cables were more near to the back panel of the case to take advantage of some of those handy-dandy cable routing features of the case.
Should still be facing the other way. This way around it's just sucking in the hot air that's being exhausted by the gpu in order to cool itself. Not ideal.
All of the hot air in the system goes up. The PSU draws in cold air from the front fans that is coming over the HDDs, and exhausts it out the back. The GPU also takes some of this air, moves it through the fins and out towards the Mono or the side opanel. From there it rises because it is hot and meets the air going through the CPU cooler, and then out the top and back. Makes perfect sense, unless this means that you have more exhausts fans than intake fans.
Ah, i stand corrected. I thought it was an open air design but you're right, it's a blower.
GPU exhausts out the back of case...
Nope, I agree with ya, that's not ideal, but there's not much you can do if your PSU was designed that way. Except for flip it upside down of course.
Why not stick the unused cables through the grommet near the psu?
I actually just did that, looks a lot neater now, I was just too lazy to do it the first time.
Cool setup. You should consider flipping the PSU and routing the excess cables behind the motherboard. It'll make the build look a lot cleaner.
How much did the 1440p run you?
What's you opinion on that monitor? I understand that those cheap Korean ones use A- panels instead of the A+ rated ones that go to major manufacturers. Have you noticed any weird uniformity issues or anything?
No problems at all. Some people report issues with backlight bleed or a few dead pixels, but I got lucky and haven't had any issues.
So, you didn't go for the Pixel Perfect monitor? I'm going to buy one or two of those X-Stars, and I'm not sure if I want to get the pixel perfect or not.
A lot of people say pixel perfect is a jip...these guys don't have time to check every monitor. Don't waste the extra money.
It seems like a scam.
Chiming in for a QNIX I got about a month ago (same type of monitor). Very good, colors are awesome, no backlight or pixel issues.
I have that exact same monitor except it is branded 'CrossOver'
Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the Crossover the "first wave" of 1440p panels that use IPS screens instead of PLS like this and the QNIX? Unless crossover has a PLS display too, in which case I apologize.
Crossover does indeed use IPS and isn't overclockable.
US $329.90 including shipping from Korea on eBay.
How did you manage to overclock your CPU to 4.0 Ghz? I did it once and it wasn't very stable for some games
Google guides for over locking your specific CPU + Motherboard and see how others do it. If you don't give the CPU enough voltage you'll have stability problems.
I used ASUS's built in overclock feature, it did everything for me. When I had the Corsair H70 on it I got it to 4.2ghz stable.
What software is this? I, too, have a 965 and can't get stable at anything above 3.8.
I used the AI suite auto tuning feature. It came with my motherboard disc, and works good enough for me. For my GPU I use MSI afterburner.
My 975 will run 4.1 with a bit of a voltage tweak. around 1.475 kept it stable, was able to get 4.2 stable as well, but my cooler isnt up to that kind of heat so i just keep it around 4.0 for ease and less heat worry.
I used that on my P67 mobo and the processor would get quite hot at the voltages that it was running at - even with a large after market heat sink. Getting the voltage as low as possible for the frequency you're going for is well worth the time it takes.
I don't know for sure, and it's comfy :)
Fair enough, thanks anyway. Looks it!
For those who keeps thinking that OP's PSUs are backward:
How much damage did the failing Corsair H70 do?
Since the pump stopped it overheated my cpu a lot before I realized and turned it off. It probably took some life out of my cpu, but it's still running fine.
I was thinking of running a similar setup but with the 1080 monitors in portrait. Have you ever tried this?
No, but I really want to get some mounts to use them in portrait.
I have no idea where I got it, something along the lines of macro photography.
How about a link to the center monitor wallpaper? please and ty
How did you overclock the xstar to 120hz, did you use the evga precision tool ? How well does it work ? Did you have any dead pixels ? What ebay vendor did you order from ?
Thank you, thank you, and thank you :) Would you recommend it ?
It's definitely worth it man.
965 FTW. I keep telling myself this year's the year I upgrade, but it still plays everything like a champ.
I have been doing the same thing, I keep upgrading other parts instead.
How much energy do monitors use? Im always worried to turn on my second monitor because Im afraid monitors use up a lot of electricity.
The 1440p monitor I purchased from the korean vendor only uses 45w. That is less than the old 60w bulbs that are now being replaced by CFLs and the more expensive LED lights.
I'm considering upgrading to 1440p, but I have a single 2gb GTX770. I'm not sure how well that'll fair with next gen literally right around the corner.
Go for the 1440, Just turn on Vsync
Everyone on this sub Coolcomputersetups has that chair...I have that chair too. Comfy as hell though
Do you know where to get it? I would like to get one as well
I've been thinking of getting that mic, how is it?
I can't find a definitive response time for that monitor (DP2710 LED). I've seen 6 - 8 ms grey to grey and I've also seen people say color to color it goes over that magical response time of 16ms where ghosting occurs. Any idea of what the actual numbers are?
What is the program(I'm guessing that's what it is) on the leftmost monitor in the center of the screen? The circular thing? Just part of the wallpaper or is it some cool control center type thing?
You say the R4 is good for cable management but it sure doesn't look like it
