Computer Setup

I am so sorry dude. That sucks. Really bad.
Thanks for the condolences. :) Fortunately I was able to salvage a decent amount after going back earlier and everything was backed up. Also FEMA is helping to cover costs of uninsured stuff.
YAYYY FEMA oh and i found just getting things out in the open really helps ssds if there isnt a lot of water inside.
Hey man, I know losing stuff like that sucks, but if you need anything I have a GTX 550Ti 1GB and (for what it's worth) a Diablotek 400 watt power supply I could donate, let me know if you're interested :)
Thanks for the offer! I'm alright though, give that away to someone with less than I have!
What screen saver is that?
The first one, the matrix effect.
I second this, that screen saver is awesome. Do the characters actually scroll down?
I know D: You'd be surprised, it actually worked fairly decently, especially considering I am not by any means a extensive computer gamer. It works for my needs until I have saved up enough to build my own computer.
Hell, you got a decent gaming computer there, pop a 7870 or 760 in it and you are golden, assuming that your psu can handle it and all that stuff.
That might be the route I take, who knows! I have to test and see what still works after the flood.
That sucks man :/
I am planning on moving to Boulder soon. I'll take this as a warning and waterproof a room.
I wouldn't think you need to. My parents have lived here for 20 years and visited before that. Nothing like this has ever happened. But, it's your money dude. Go ahead.
Top floor computer setup would be safe enough
Mind sharing where you got the back lights? I have been searching! Thanks!
I've been looking for back lighting, but I'm not sure where to look for good ones. Can I ask where you got yours?
Do they change color automatically?
If you mean "automatic" in the idea that they match what is on the screen, no. They do have a mode that lets them cycle through all the colors.
Psh, nah. Fortunately I was able to salvage a decent amount and FEMA is helping.
Not sure how recent, but if your parents had homeowners/renters insurance it could be covered.
Didn't have insurance :/ Fortunately I was able to salvage a decent amount and everything was backed up. Also FEMA is helping to cover costs of uninsured stuff.
Assuming they have flood insurance and it was in the section of the house the insurance considers part of the 'house' and not externalities like the basement, garage, crawlspace, etc. Source: the 'crawlspace' (house is on stilts, that area has a 7-9ft ceiling) full of power tools my family lost during Sandy.
:( sorry to hear man, hope you are okay though.
Thankfully didn't lose everything, including my life! The local Salvation Army and REd Cross are putting us in a nice hotel until we can find a place to live. Great people.
Sorry you lost most of it, but Great idea with how you organized your cords, I'll definitely be doing that
Ah, things happen. And after finally going back today, was able to salvage a decent amount. ALso, thanks! I love these cable trays, they are a miracle.
Sorry about your loss. Insurance not covering that?
Didn't have insurance :/ Fortunately I was able to salvage a decent amount and everything was backed up. Also FEMA is helping to cover costs of uninsured stuff.
Thanks good to hear. Hoping everything gets better for you!
Sorry about your battle-station, it was really nice. Do you know the name of that desk?
I wish people would just take pics of their gaming setup in normal light. As it is I don't know what this gaming setup really looks like or how it relates to the room. I just different colored eye sores.
I am also from Colorado but I moved to California a while back, sorry for your loss brother...jw though what brand/model where the LED back lights you have there?
About the mouse cleaning, use a toothbrush it lets you get all the dirt in the small cracks.
Loosing your rig really sucks, especially if it is something you were growing up with when in high school. Were you able to at least get some of your data back?
Yeah, along with a bit of the equipment. Thank god I had everything backed up.
Thanks :D I got most of them on coolcomputersetups actually.
If you don't feel like going through all those, give me a description of a wallpaper you like from the pictures and I'll tell you its name.
This is more than enough, thank you! Especially for putting the original files on dropbox instead of coolcomputersetups, preventing the horrific image compression.
Sure thing! Imgur is great for virtually everything except large images like that. :/ (I also may or may not have already had them in Dropbox and it was a hell of a lot easier than uploading them to coolcomputersetups.) ;D
Well, here are mine! Also via dropbox form! Most of them were sadly from coolcomputersetups from various coolcomputersetupss, so apologies for the quality.
I can't download them, even though I have a DropBox account. :-(
Glad you can download them! xD
Oh wow, thanks! These are awesome.
You had enough cash to buy the gaming setup, but not enough to buy insurance?
Thanks for the personal attack :/ I have to say I agree with you though, my parents were very stupid for not having insurance. After making this post I was able to salvage a decent amount of my equipment in simi-working order, and should be able to buy replacements with personal funds I've saved from working. FEMA money will be going towards to finding a place to live in our disaster-ridden community. Thanks for the sympathy. Hope you aren't in a 1 in a 1,000 year unexplainable disaster any time soon, but at least you'll be covered.
There's nothing personal about my post. You claimed to be using FEMA assistance to replace a gaming PC because your parents didn't insure their belongings. I pointed out how this type of abuse/misuse of federal assistance pisses me of. Now you're changing your story which completely changes the context of this discussion.
Good guy OP, gets offered lots of charity from awesome fellow coolcomputersetupsors who just wanna help and he says no, help others with less. You OP are a nice human
