Computer Setup

Comments

Decided to go back to the U shape desk since it's easier to go from computer to computer. I did however rotate it around different than I had it before and I think this might work/feel better.
How's that U2713? I picked one up a couple weeks back just as I was leaving the country so I haven't even opened the box yet.
Used to use only higher-res screens but went to 1920x1200 when I experimented with the tri-monitor setup. Took me a few hours to adjust back to the higher resolution but after that it was oh so nice.
Dat lamp... 600 dollars. Very nice setup though, and clean. I was thinking of doing a U-shaped custom when I upgrade from my "cubicle" setup.
Well I backed them on Kickstarter and paid $279 for this lamp...plus a shirt, oh yeah. Still pricey. Not sure it's worth $600 but definitely cool. Matches some of my guns pretty well.
Don't care about the downvotes, but at least leave me a comment about why, sheesh :)
Haha so you do care. Seriously though it looks like a sweet setup, would love to have something like that for all my headphones and sources (had to start stacking amps on top of each other at one point).
I'm just curious if it's just random hate or if there is something really bad about my setup that someone hates, heh.
Wow, someone who understands how important it is to use quality monitors. Your setup is better than 95% of the gaming setups posted here.
Got hooked on the Dell UltraSharp's a long time ago and they've always been great monitors, so never bothered to change, unless it was an Apple display or something built into the iMac.
Awesome setup and What tables did you use for this setup?
This is using two Ikea Galant corner pieces (left and right) plus an extension on the side against the flat wall.
So how are you liking the higher resolution?
Definitely nicer once your eyes get used to it. Very sharp text and just more real estate overall.
You just got me looking up those desks, I think I know what I'm getting myself for Christmas...
Very flexible and cost-effective. Several good color options too, just go with the "T" legs and not the "A" legs. My only feedback for ya.
I appreciate it! I'll keep that all in mind.
That lamp is the one with the piccadilly railing system right? Love that thing :D
Yup, sure is...the railing is awesome and the "Edison" style light bulb is pretty cool too.
I would put my rifle attachments on it...
Yeah, I have a few things laying around I can throw on there, although the m203 might be a little much. Ah, why the hell not?
Hahahahaha. just in case u have a break in, aim your terrifying lamp at intruder. can imagine that working well :D
Might look like some sort of weird modified Portal gun or something.
Those are 1440x900 monitors.... right? if so i have quite a bit of use on them (school bought a whole lot a few years back). And i would keep them, haven't seen them next to a 1080/1200p monitor though. I thought they'd be pretty sweet for surround gaming or something
Which, the 3 connected to the gaming PC? Those are Dell U2412M's which are 1920x1200 (16:10). My favorite in the 24" size range.
Why did you spend $280 on a lamp?
Probably wouldn't again, but it looked really cool and I had some spare change at the time. Was trying to help out some folks on Kickstarter. Turned out great though, one of the better projects I've backed in terms of quality, on-time delivery, etc. It's certainly a nice piece and everyone asks about it.
There are so many things you could do with $280, I just don't understand why you wouldn't save that money. I just don't get it, you paid that much for a lamp.
It's all relative. Toys are toys, some are just more expensive than others. If you look at everything you own by what you could get instead, than you aren't really enjoying them. Most people wouldn't understand what we spend on anything over the bare essentials, but that's why we're here.
Would you spend $280 on a lamp?
No, but I have plenty of things that people think are "too much". I guess I don't care what people spend their money on.
Get the f#ck over it, dude.
You can say fuck on the internet, friend :)
I save the vast majority of my money and sometimes splurge on some very specific items. This was something I thought was very unique and so I spent a little more. There are plenty of far more expensive lamps that look just like a $40 lamp from Target.
