Computer Setup

Wtf, are those linux powered or something?
Yeah, the "My Documents" folder makes me think Windows CE
Surprised its not windows 98.
That's still kinda cool....probably don't run well but looks neat
It's proprietary software made by Texas Instruments.
HP Prime is where it is really at.
I remember reading somewhere that they don't allow qwerty keyboards, because then they're considered computers, which aren't allowed in exams.
That's where they draw the line? QWERTY keys and not the trackpad or the "my documents" section?
Kinda. I have both CX versions because the CAS versions are considered computers. I use the CAS in class and the non-CAS on exams.
Apparently. I don't know much about it, but maybe they have a specific list of things that aren't allowed?
So can I bring my laptop in to exams if I turn the keyboard into a devorak layout?
No, as I said in another post, there's probably a list somewhere that helps define a computer, naming specific functions.
Here in NZ, not even graphic calculators are allowed :/
I understand that but I'm just saying would be a lot more useful/easy if it were a qwerty keyboard.
Pretty much all exams/standardized tests don't allow you to use a calculator if it has a QWERTY keyboard, but ABCD(etc.) are allowed.
Such an odd place to draw the line... I'd be more worried about the 'My Documents' tab seeing as you can probably import plenty of cheaty text onto that thing
You can do the same with programs on the 84s.
You have no clue the extent of my "cheaty text" I have made entire software suites to churn out my statistics homework. If you have to do it more than three times, make a program to do it for you.
Mmmmm dat CAS! I have a CX CAS. Shit is awesome
Woah I haven't seen that backlit Ti-84 Plus before. Nice.
Cause nothing says "badass" more than a School Property tag. :)
For the price of those three calculators you could actually have a real gaming setup
They say that TI calculators are so expensive because there's just one guy in the world who can make screens that shitty.
What exactly did you do? Copy the Image URL, Copy the Alt-Text and paste the explanation page?
It means you can see the image without leaving the page. calm the fuck down.
Oh yes! THAT'S where I got it from ages ago.
TI actually makes an 84 with a color screen now.
Not the 84. It's the Nspire series.
No there is actually an 84 with a color screen, it's the TI-84 Plus C.
Computers have shot down in prices over the past 6 year. The TI83 calculator has not... Fuck supply and demand
What kind of system can you put together with $250? Not a great one.
It was a joke, making fun of the high price of those things.
The price isn't high, so the joke doesn't work. That's what I was pointing out.
Hell yes the price is high. $100 For the TI 84? Fuck that.
Eh. Still not convinced.
I stand by my statement ;)
They are pretty overpriced for being calculators. At least that's what most of us think.
Yeah, I'm aware of the stigma, and I'm mostly just trying to be the guy on the other side of the argument. I don't have a solid, real opinion one way or the other. I think they're a great price for being fully programmable and so versatile, but expensive considering how few live up to that potential.
Where did you get that desk?
Do yourself a favor and sell that for a TI-89 instead.
And then proceed to be screwed over on the SAT's, ACT's, and most college level math courses because the TI 89 Titanium turns out to not be allowed. :(
For classes that don't allow graphic calculators, I recommend the TI 36x Pro. It does it all.
I used to have the Casio too but I lost it. I'm 100% sure that the Casio has an algebraic solver. I think you just need to enter the equation, 3x = 9, and hit "solve". I remember using that. The Ti also has the same functionality. The main reason I went with the TI is for linear interpolation. It just takes me a few seconds to do them now as opposed to 10-20 seconds.
Then sell it and buy a TI 92+
Calculators with QWERTY keyboards are considered computers, and aren't allowed on exams.
Actually, I've never been allowed to use a calculator at all on a math exam, and it's been completely useless even in most classes. CompSci major.
Lucky for me. I'm past SAT's and ACT's, yet I've used it in every math related class I've taken in college.
I haven't been able to use my TI-89 in any of my college math courses (Calc 2-4). On tests I mean.
I'm just going to assume you had your friend take the second picture, just to save my sanity.
As said friend, yes I took the picture.
So, you cant go deeper?
Dude... Fuckin' debezel already... Shit...
Can i have a link to that awesome wallpaper ?
I'd like to say that, in fact, I am a user of a triple monitor gaming setup that was featured here not too long ago if anyone is interested in checking that out.
That first picture looks pretty awesome.
There is a disturbing lack of TI 89 Titanium.
Now you can plot y= 1/301985019385039sin(x) much easily
Negative points for not having a z-table background.
If those are your hands, then who took this picture?
What monitor stand are you using? Is that a mechanical keyboard?
That's one expensive set up.
How'd you take the second picture?
