Computer Setup

What is that monitor on the right, the vertical one? I've seen them frequently lately and I'm curious what function they serve. Are they for streaming? Just browsing while gaming? Every time I see one I feel like I need to get one! I want one!

It's an old 1680x1050 Dell. I keep my contact lists/chat/voice programs over there. It can be handy at times.
