How have you got 12GB of RAM and it running dual channel?

One set of 4GB and one set of 2GB. The sets themselves match but they are both 2 different types of ram.

I found the pony! Pretty sweet rig, beats my old rotten potato. What is that wooden thing sitting by the compy though?
