Is this the Fredrik desk? I have the black version but how did you get rid of the top shelving? On my version it's one solid rail from floor to top shelf.

Im not sure of the model, but yes the sides came like they were in the first picture. I took the caps off the top and used a metal handsaw to cut it to the length in picture 2 so it was even with the desk surface and put the caps back on. Very easy. I have a small room and I think it makes it look bigger.
