How well do sound bars work? I've never listened to one but have been seeing them more and more but to me a proper 5.1/7.1 surround system still seems to be the better option

It's actually really great, I was completely blown away on how it sounds. Picked it up at a local store open box for less than half of what it ran new. Its bundled with a active wireless sub, pretty damn awesome.

They aren't very good in comparison to a 5.1 or 7.1 home theater setup. If you have a limited budget I'd get headphones over a speaker system. You can get high end headphones for about $300 and then get a sound card for virtual surround sound which works very well.

My g500 looked exactly like that until I ponied up for a G500s :) It's seen some things.

How are those monitors? i have been looking at them for the same setup you have but cant decide. and big cons on them?
