Computer Setup

You should buy a mousepad. I recommend Steelseries Qck.
I've heard it's the best-buy choice. thanks! :)
I have the mini version of that pad, and its amazing.
I picked on up from a sale for 5 bucks. I don't know if they still have the sale going on, but if you don't mind the Blizzard brand graphics on your mouse pad then I think it's a great deal. I have the Diablo 3 monk version.
Nice setup! Love the use of Sublime text ;)
Thanks bud! nothing beats sublime :)
I personally enjoy the efficiency of vim. But hey, whatever gets it compiling, huh?
There's a vi mode for Sublime Text called Vintage
Also love the fact that it comes standard on every OS I use.
Sublime text is for noobs that discovered purty colors
Or for people who prefer it to other text editors, because it best suits the kind of work they do.
Why use sublime rather than notepad++? (I'm asking as someone who's never used sublime)
Why use either over an actual IDE? As a developer who primarily uses .NET (and so the Visual Studio IDE), I don't really understand the point of using a text editor over a comprehensive IDE to do your bidding. Genuine question.
I use Espresso. I do HTML, CSS, and Ruby. All I really need is code completion and a clean slate with come coloring.
I work with asp.net web forms in vs 2013 mainly but do html/css/xml in sublime
IDE's are laggy as shit on my machine
They're Genius SP-HF1800A, pretty cool speakers for the price.
I always see people with black backgrounds for coolcomputersetups. How do you do that?

It looks good but can you read what's on those tiny monitors? :D
Do you have binoculars for those monitors?
The vertical one is a hp L2035, 20", the one mounted on the wall is an acer p236h, 23.6", it's just a huuuge desk
Your desk looks huge. What is it?
It's custom made, 2*1m in dimensions. i had the need for something huge and affordable and this was the way to go
What's it made of? How much did you pay? If I may ask
I've got the board for free but it shouldn't be more than 30$ if i had to pay for it and i found the legs for cheap on a yard sale, like 10$
Vertical monitors make me horny.
Is it sad that even without being able to see the code because it's so small, I can tell that code is quite clean because of how short the methods are?
You just have a good eye ;)
What text / code -editor do you use? Thanks in advanced.
That's sublime text right there!
Very nice, even the squiggly cords look the part.
What stand is that with the vertical monitor? Or does it come with the monitor?
It's a HP L2035 and the stand is stock :)
What vertical monitor is that?
Nothing too fancy, the wall mounted one is an Acer P236H, 23.6" size, the left one is a HP L2035 20".
May I ask, what is that small thing on the desk, to the left of the keyboard?
It's a usb port on a cord which i conveniently pulled through a hole in the desk
OP has an IDE open on the screen...
Sorry, but Sublime Text isn't an IDE, it's an advanced text editor.
Lots of people develop in text editors?
Yeah, it's much more resource efficient than full IDE and is mostly used for web development and HTML/CSS work.
Yeah, quite the smoking gun... I couldn't possibly have an IDE on my computer if I wasn't a developer.
Yeah i do it for a living, what's strange about it?
Doesn't that kind of make sense, though? This is a community of people with nice computer setups. You could safely assume that means they spend a lot of time on them. Who spends a lot of time on computers, makes it nice so they don't hate it and has the money for these sorts of things? Digital artists/photographers, developers, and music producers. It's not unreasonable that most of the people fit one of those categories.
Describes own desk asn clean and simple.
So, why no wireless keyboard?
Well it's okay, but the chords on the mouse and keyboard need to go!
My g400 has its uses in occasional gaming and i'm no fan of batteries
