I actually like Windows 8. Add a start menu and remove all of the metro interface and it's Windows 7 with a bunch of added features. The new explorer and task manager are both refreshing and it seems a bit faster on my computer.

Yep W8 its better, for me the only problem is I can't find explorer.exe in TaskManager, sometimes it's really annoying. I have no idea why people still bitching about this OS.

The start menu is coming back in the Windows 8.1 update.

Its just the button not the menu. It just links to the start screen still.

I explained in another reply why I object to Windows 8. Mainly the interface being changed so drastically. With enough time, I'm sure I could set it up the way I want it, but as a Windows 8 noob, I was bombarded with too many changes to do simple procedures. It seems like a tacked-on giant Widget, or some desktop mod to throw me off.

In the desktop mode there are hardly any changes, and you can get rid of Modern UI with StartIsBack.

Unlike the novelty account, I really do want to know why you don't like it.

I've used it for roughly 5~ hours, which isn't enough time really to give it a fair shake, but for those 5 hours I was lost. No "my computer" icon really threw me off, and I was searching for access to the Device Manager for quite some time. They drastically changed the way the computer feels to implement a tablet-y interface, which I personally can't stand. I don't have touch-screen anything and I don't plan on going that route. Pirating games was also a mega-bitch on Windows 8 because of the confusing interface. Windows 7 almost feels like 98SE to me, and Windows 8 is more like an Android of iPhone.

Well, I think you ought to try it with a start menu replacer, such as StartIsBack or Ex7forW8. They both bring back Windows 7's start menu and get rid of the Modern stuff.

Btter if you like persistent BSoD and trouble with games. Win7 is a far more stable platform and still out-sells Win8

Never had a crash with Windows 8. I've been using it over a year as my main OS.

Really? I've 4 friends who are running Win8 on their rigs and they all have crashes, though some more than others. I guess it could be something to do with the hardware plus the OS.

That's my guess. Honestly, the worst I've had were small lockups due to one of my HDD's data cables being slightly loose, but I'd been able to get it to reboot normally and resume session after fixing the cable (which has been replaced...)

It basically has everything Windows 7 has, and more. If you don't like the Modern UI bullshit, install StartIsBack.

In every way? I have Windows 8 and that is completely untrue. This tablet GUI is terrible.

I seriously hope people are cleaning up their desks just for gaming setup photos. Cause my desk is rarely as clean & organized as the photos I see on here & I'd feel like a slob if most of you guys actually kept it that clean 24-7.

Its 50/50. sometimes gets really messy, sometimes stays clean for a while.

Why is your case door off?

There's better airflow with it closed. It sort of acts as a wind tunnel with air entering the front and exiting the top/back.

Does your case not have a window on the side? the lights seem kind of useless then.
