2005 is not retro yet... plz gawd
Maybe 2005 isn't, but my shirt was.
Nothing in your picture is retro. You don't even have a CRT.
Yeah, and Rush released an album like 2 years ago.
Saw them in concert too.
Yeah, they put on a great show.
Those logitech 5.1 speakers are legendary.. Got them in 2005 and still work great even after countless falls. The bass is awesome.
I have the 2.1 system and have owned them since probably 2005. I still cannot find a set that competes with them for the price; paid $30 for these bad boys and the sound and base are amazing.
Yeah, I took those all the way through college. Sometimes I still miss em.
In technology years? Sure, why not?
Do you remember the specs of your machine?
Somewhat. It was an AMD Athlon processor, 64 bit, although I never could get my hands on a 64 bit OS, let alone any games that would make use of it. ATI x800 pro 512Mb. 112Gb 5400 RPM HDD. I want say maybe a gig of RAM. I couldn't afford a dvd drive, so I had to buy my games in those ridiculous sleeve cases with anywhere from 4-10 CD's in them (insert CD 6 and press 'ok').
A 64bit processor? Yeah, I'm gonna have to side with the "this is not retro" folks on this one. It's more like "slightly dated". Sorry man - maybe if you at least had a CRT monitor and a ball mouse...
Yeah, you're right. A better title would have been "first modern gaming setup" or something. I still thought it was interesting because it was a somewhat pivotal time for tech. Sata was just on the scene, 64 bit processors were brand new, I also think pci-e was new.
Did you buy the tower like that or make it?
I bought it. It was an Apevia X-Super Alien. I thought it was the coolest thing ever back then.
I think i have the non-gaming version of it, haha.
I miss the times when towers were flashy as fuck and just absolutely ridiculous.
Haha, yeah, I want to say this one had something like 8-10 80mm fans that were lit with those intense black-light LEDs. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner and hurt to look directly at.
Have you seen this coolcomputersetups? All LEDs shining everywhere, GPUs glowing and shit. That's not flashy?
Star Wars Galaxies... post-NGE but still SWG. Good man.
Haha, thanks, I had been a player since the pre-cu days. Me and my friends tried to hold on after the NGE, but ultimately couldn't. Still probably my favorite gaming memories of all time.
Yeah same here, my guild slowly died till it was just 2 of us. I was still there the day it was shut down, though.
I still have those speakers and they are good as the day I got them. Also i had that same phone around that time. the LG VX8100. One of the first flip phones capable of playing MP3s and had a miniSD card. I remember watching Aquateen Hunger Force in class of this thing and people were amazed. Now we have Netflix and can watch almost anything on our phones.
Post-NGE SWG. What an abomination. Ruined a pretty good game.
I totally agree with you there. I think the fact that there're still functioning EMU servers today is a testament to how strong the original game was.
Yea. I tried to get on those, but it wasn't just quite the same. A little too late.
Yeah, best to just move on and let SWG RIP.
Retro is something newly created that resembles something from the past.
