Yes, the whole desk is made from 1" black water pipe and steel fittings. The cables are for stabilization, like sway bars. I designed the desk setup using Google's Sketchup. I like it a lot.

Very nice, i like the idea of vertical space. i find all my desk just get that horizontal sprawl. very limiting.
