I love my behringer xenyx USB. I use it for recording also.
I use my mixer for things like recording drums and other instruments, I just don't want to buy another mixer. I like your equipment btw.
I have the same speakers you have.
Thats not a super powerful setup, how do you get a quality stream going..?
We have the same headset!
Its not too bad honestly. I've heard waaaay worse for a ton more money, but there is much better sound quality cans for the cost.
I like them a lot, I realize there's better but I really like the retractable microphone and they fit nicely.
We have the same keyboard!
Haven't upgraded since the 90's?
Actually just bought it. It was only 40 dollars and I couldn't resist. I wanted a mechanical keyboard and this was cheap so I figured I should go for it.
Good choice. Keyboard's a legend.
I actually just bought it a few months ago, plus I'm 18 so I wasn't really capable of using a keyboard in the 90s.
You obviously have no idea.....
Buckling switch Model Ms are pretty much among the best keyboards ever manufactured in history. I have two.
Really? I work in an office of old dos terminals and thinwear clients, there has to be at least 10 of these collecting dust.
Ship them to me. Now.
Grab as many as you can and mail them all to me :D
Now that I know they are worth something I'm going to horde them all haha.
allbutoneforme:>
Haha ill see what I can do.
How does the Model M work for gaming? Seems it would have issues since it's only 2KRO.
I haven't had any problems playing FPS games on a Unicomp Spacesaver. The main problem is the amount of effort you need to push the keys in. It's excellent for typing, but I don't really like to play games with it.
I have a unicomp for work and a cherry brown for home. i couldn't imagine gaming on a unicomp.
It's fine as long as you have a native PS/2 connection on your mobo. Using a USB converter doesn't really work since they only register one key at a time. :(
I use PS/2 with my Zowie Celeritas currently, but the keys (browns) are way too soft and I end up pushing down keys that I don't mean to press all the time. I thought there just might be issues with Model Ms while holding specific key combinations, which is why I avoided buying one previously.
I use my Model M to play CS:GO and many other games and I have had any problems so far
I game from my original M and have no issues with it at all. I really don't see the effort issue others mentioned, I tend to press harder when gaming than typing anyway.
I used a Model M for 4 out of my 7 years playing WoW and they are a nice keyboard to use for gaming. MMO wise it was nice to have the harder key press to stop pressing buttons you didn't want. Since PS/2 keyboards don't have a limit on how many keys you can press you can run and gun without having to know how many keys can be pressed simultaneously.
Can someone enlighten me whats so good about that keyboard?
Its a really good mechanical keyboard from the 80s/early 90s. There's a spring in each key that snaps when you push them, giving a really good sense of tactile and audible feedback when typing. The things are also quite heavy and built like tanks, its very rare to hear of one dying. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out far more died from recycling than wear and tear.
Digging the G400 and Model M.
Thanks, for a cheap mouse it's really nice and the DPI buttons are great.
I use a Model M and a MX518 (basically older version of the G400 with only technical difference being a lower DPI)
The G400 is actually one of the few mice with a flawless sensor, which makes it among the best ones on the market.
My url is twitch.tv/arrowkid btw, if anyone wanted to know. Having a mini-marathon this weekend :)
Haha I was just watching your channel before I came to bed and noticed this thread. Cheers, thanks for the entertainment!
I can tell you're a speed runner
I just like to watch :D I practice some games here and there, not really a speedrunner though!
That's a big mixer for a streaming project, do you mix in multiple outside sources? Did you consider using a USB non-mixer interface like the Focusrite Sapphire or the PreSonusVSL? I have a Presonus 1818vsl myself and it works wonders.
Yeah, I mix in a little bit (mic, computer, iPod). But I need all the pre-amps for recording drums too. And I really like the USB interface personally, works great for things like Xsplit.
I've thought about streaming casually. Is it something you'd recommend? Nice setup by the way :)
Yes! Streaming is great, I would highly recommend it...thanks!
Do you use your mouse with the mic stand there or?
Yeah, hahaha. I put my arm on top of it, it works.
You're the first one to say anything! :)
Adam_AK, I have a lot of time for his GTA speedruns! FrankerZ
IBM Model M. I am jelly.
Same webcam, mousepad, and headset haha. Not a big fan of the headset though to be honest. Sweet Model M by the way!
Model M, Steelseries QCK and a Logitech G400 - you got a fine taste, sir.
Does anybody know where to find a Model M? I'd really like one.
Ebay or craigslist. Got mine for $40 on eBay including shipping.
Unicomp has some originals in stock too, just have to e-mail them about it. I got both mine from them, and they're 95 IBM/Lexmarks
You probably want to get a unicomp keyboard instead as it has all of the keys of a regular keyboard like the windows key and menu key (great for using on a word to correct in documents or typing on a browser with word correction.) And I'm not sure but I think the keys aren't spaced as widely as they are on the model M which I don't like too much.
They are really nice but not for gaming, they only have a 2 key roll over.
I want one for casual typing and just surfing the web, they're pretty cool to look at too.
What's your twitch name? I'll follow
