Computer Setup

B&W makes some damn fine speakers. I just recently got a pair handed down to me by a friend, and I've used them to set up a secondary gaming setup in my room.
Yup. 10 years later and sound as good as any other high end speakers on the market. Love em.
I swear the pinnacle of hi-fi technology was in the late 80's.
Somebody has some tidying to do! :P
I can't clean up now! I'm unemployed and there's a steam sale on! That would cut into valuable gaming time.
Nice my dad also has a OLD TEAC stereo sound system from teh early 90's i think..
Wow. Vintage black discs? You mean records? LPs?
Can it be done? I thought drivers were generally sealed units so fixing cones like that is near impossible?
The cones of you speakers have been pushed in. It's upsetting to see on what are likely to be (or were) quite expensive speakers
You should separate those speakers more, if you can. Also, try using a vacuum to undent those dust caps.
Where they are, it doesn't matter if those speakers are separated. Only up to a certain point do we hear things in stereo. Once you get back far enough, everything you hear becomes mono. Seeing as how they are not at a desk where he sits, unless he separates them from room end to room end, they will sound the same.
That's very unreasonable. It would be better if he just placed them on a desk and separated them but seeing as how tiny it is, it's not possible. Either OP needs a larger desk or where they are is fine for what he wants. If he's not willing to care about a stereo field, he wouldn't be having his speakers up there in the first place.
It bugs me, yes. But I'm getting a new desk soon that's a lot wider, so I think I can deal with it for a couple of weeks.
By dust caps, I'm presuming you mean the speaker cone? I'll try that, thanks :)
The ideal position for speakers is an equilateral triangle, with the speakers "toed in" towards you roughly 10 degrees.
My altec lansing speakers have slight dents on the speaker wrap/cone thing how should i get those out?(the metal lining the vibrates to recreate the sound and these are old and small speakers with a subwoofer as the main piece)
The top, silver cones on my speakers in the pics here had the same problem, as the vacuum didn't like them.
Whoops i have the opposite problem..my speaker looks like someone did that except its pushed outwards(towards you if you look at it) slightly..weird.
Could I see a picture? My friend knows a lot about this sort of stuff and I'll show it to him to see if he knows what to do.
Give me a few minutes.
I can't tell what's going on in these photos at all.
That is very strange, I don't think I've seen something like that. How did it happen?
Tried pushing it in and nothing. it doesnt seem to warp the sound at all but i bought these speakers for $20 dollars off a friend so i dont really care :P nor do i know what the originally sounded like xD (she has a NICE 500 dollar sony sound system ..)
What are the Lego things?
Just little storage containers. Got them from Legoland a few years ago.
Jw, how can it run most new games, but NOT minecraft? i always thought minecraft would b an easy game to run
Minecraft is very CPU-dependent, maybe his video card is bottlenecked by his processor.
Minecraft and Crysis run like shit on low settings, just to clear that up.
That Phantom 410 cries out "FEED ME!"!
I hate that case, it's so ugly.
I personally like it, but meh, it all comes down to personal preference I guess.
I suppose for those who like these flashy "gaming" cases it's great, but I'm more into simple cases like something by Lian Li (although they're overpriced as all hell) or Corsair. Some Cooler Master cases are alright even though they're a bit more flashy than I'd like.
I have been considering putting aside the 410 for another project and using a Fractal Design Define R4. I'll see how it goes money wise.
