How much did it cost to make it? And how difficult was it? I saw a website selling them for $120. It seems a little steep for a piece of plastic, but I'm not sure if I have the skills or patience to make one myself.
The sheet of plexiglass only cost me 25$. The time this took me was about 2 hours total. And honestly the reason I attempted this was because I didn't want to pay the price u are talking about. Obviously it's not as clean and well done as the ones for 120 because I literally did all the cutting and sanding my hand tools but I was definitely proud of the work. Haha.
You did a good job! When I put my build together in the future I think I'll try it too, hopefully it comes out this nice too.
Really appreciate it man. Honestly speaking too, there's nothing like a little home project u can be proud of right?
Are there air holes or grooves in the plexiglass? I only ask because it looked like your old side panel was a source of air flow, you might notice temp changes if your new plexi glass side doesn't have any means of air flow. Looks awesome anyway, i wanna do something like this to get rid of the large fan on my cases plexi glass sidepanel :)
I actually put into account this problem too before i made the cuts. i basically cut the 2 sides 1/2 inch deeper while leaving the top and bot side to the same length as my old panel. the shorter sides basically makes the plexi sit deeper into the case but in return i have 2, top to bot vent holes to let some air out. temps are only about 2 degrees c higher than before so it doesnt seem to be too big of an issue as of yet. (sorry for the long reply.)
Sounds like you thought well ahead, good job sir!
The way my case is, i have a rim around some plexi glass then a large fan in the middle, i hope to take the plexi glass out the rim and put a new sheet in so i don't have the horrid fan slot anymore.
That sounds like a pretty easy fix =)
I'm hoping so, but i have the diy skills of a racoon haha
