Computer Setup

I must say, I'm a pretty huge fan of your living space in general. This is exactly like something I would like to have. Are you in a muli-story building by any chance?

Ya. I'm about 20 stories up. Great view and close to everything.

I'd toe those monitors in slightly. Near field monitors should be kinda pointed at you to be heard while at the computer.

Good point. I think I also need some padding on the desk below them or something. The bass sounds flabby.

I think a subwoofer would also help with that.

Yup, a little toe in would certainly help, SQ wise.

How do you like them? I've considered getting pair for a while, but I keep just thinking I should replace my AirMotiv6 with a better pair of speakers. Decisions, decisions...

Every time I put them on it surprises me how good they sound. They sound more 'real' than anything else I've ever tried.

I definitely will give them a try. There's a place down the street that has both out, I was actually auditioning Magnepan 3.7s there earlier today

Those are some awesome looking speakers. Maybe I should do something like that in my living room. How did they sound? Did the shop have quiet rooms to test out the gear?

Yea they had 5 or 6 quiet rooms and they were incredible. The imaging was amazing, nothing does a soundstage like those that I've heard so far. I was also looking at something like the Dynaudio Focus 340s since those Maggies don't do bass as well. They are also current monsters so I'm looking at building a pair of Hypex Ncore class d monoblocks for them. I actually originally went in to look at some high efficiency speakers to drive with The Wire amp I was wanting to build (basically a diy speaker amp that does 16wpc but measures insanely good). I might have an addiction....

I'll be sure to shoot you an update! If you'd like me to try and audition anything in particular I'd be happy to do so since I'm lucky enough to have several high end audio shops around.

I'm a fan of everything except for that computer case. It looks really out of place. Something like a Fractal R4 (black or white, take your pick) would look fantastic here.

Ya I agree 100%. The case is hideous. It would be such a job to change it now though.

Nice, clean workspace! I personally like it! A lot cleaner than my personal desk cluttered with paperwork!

Move it to the corner with the big windows on both sides.
