Computer Setup

How do you use keyboard and mouse? I have a TV PC that I sometimes play games on but keyboard on lap + mouse on arm of couch just doesn't feel comfortable over long periods of time. I love playing TF2 on the big screen but wish there was a more comfortable way to play on the couch.
One of these. Its called a couch master.
That's pretty cool, might be a bit wide for my setup (actually a loveseat/2 seat couch, not a full 3 seat couch). I have a full couch but the only place it fits is on the side of the room rather than right in front of the TV, and an end table on both sides so no room for side accessories, but that might work.
Dont use the side pieces. Just set the top across the arm rests or a mix of both.
Anyone know if you can buy only the "desk" part of that?
I can't stand that weasel prick reviewer.
You can't stand Linus? :( Linus is the best.
I have the keyboard in my lap. It's just the way I have grown to like it. The table is a good height to keep my arm at a comfortable position, never have any problems.
If you do a chair setup like this guy, you could look into something like a razer nostradamus and a mouse on the arms of the chair or on a tv tray.
If only there was some kind of dedicated hardware that was designed for hand held use which evolved for several generations with the sole intention of use being video games. It could even have convenient buttons and triggers all over it and maybe even one day be wireless.
A Razer Hydra is pretty damn close, if not superior in some ways (especially if games ever get out of the 2.5D controls we have now).
I know such devices exist, but sadly none exist for FPS gaming. Nope, no such handheld game controlling device exists that is capable of providing competent human interface for first person game control. I do have this neat device called an Xbox 360 controller, it's even wireless! Shame it only works well for 3rd person games.
I play hawken a lot. a game where 99 percent of it's players insist on a keyboard and mouse. I am in the top 3 on the leaderboards consistently. my best kill streak was 20. If you can't play an fps with a game pad you just haven't practiced enough. Fight me. Keyboard and mouse is the WORST way to experience an action game. you like making a spider with your hand and memorize new keys for every game? looking down at your keyboard mid game fun for you?
If you think you can play a PC FPS with a controller, you've never played a competitive shooter.
Play me at hawken and I will show you just how accurate someone can be with a gamepad. I understand it wont stand up to cowdooti or whatever they're calling counter-strike these days where you die in .3 seconds if someone happens to see your back first, but it's also worth noting that most competitive shooters don't have dodge or flying elements to them. Also indirect fire and lock-on weapons. "you can't play a compeditive first person shooter with a controller" is the same kind of mass delusion people have when they say things like "you can't do artistic work without a mac"
I would love to argue with you but I'm convinced you're just a bad troll that plays an obscure video game that requires no precision or heavy multitasking in its controls.
Dude, that's a mech game... It's not a twitch shooter... In fact it's not even comparable to 99% of fps games. I'd probably enjoy a controller for this game as well. Why don't you step into bf3 and see how long you last with a controller. As a person who loves controllers, your dead wrong. Your generalizing your personal experience with a vehicle based game.
You seem like a nice guy.
I agree that keyboard pretty much sucks, but mouse is the main reason K+M is popular for FPS. Thumb sticks just don't provide anywhere near the combined speed and accuracy that a high DPI mouse does. You rely too much on timing with joysticks whereas a mouse is purely position based control. If they made a better input device to replace the keyboard (preferably something with analog movement in any direction, unlike the 4-way WASD D-pad) and it made its way to popularity I'd use it, but for now K+M beats gamepad for FPS. For games like GTA and Saints Row I much prefer controller just because driving and running around with 4-way digital control sucks and analog throttle/brake is great, but I can't aim as well that's for sure. Sometimes I'd hold the gamepad in my left hand to move and use the mouse in my right to aim if I was sniping and needed quick precision, but not all games let you do that.
There's a button for that
Havent thought of it, awesome idea though! A bit of a stretch for the keyboard once you get comfortable!
I pick up the keyboard before I sit
How often do you forget that
That's something you only forget once.
Nice! I traded in my eGo C for a VV Nova about a week ago and I'm loving it!
Just got the eVic a couple days go. It's great. Though I like a hotter burn so I run it around 7.0 watts and it burns through the liquid pretty quickly.
You should try 17W on an RBA/Mech. I thought dripping would lower the amount of liquid I go through too....
You cant hit 17w consistently in a mech. maybe in a dna20 but thats not a mech.
I have a 0.8 ohm coil on a 18650 battery, which full charged, is a 4.2 volt delivery (at mid charge it's 3.7, you can confirm with a voltmeter if you want). Wattage = Voltage2 /Resistance. 4.22 = 17.64, 17.64/0.8= 22.05, which is the wattage I'm pulling. VV/VW mods are regulated, yes, but my batteries are not. You can easily pull 17-25 watts with a mechanical mod. Please don't downvote if you don't know what you're talking about. It's common for mech users to use 20+ watts.
"consistently" i think you missed that word in your reading. the wattage drops as the voltage in the battery drops. and no i did not downvote you. i run .3 in my rda so my setup hits 58.8watts on a fully charged battery.
Oh, well that's obvious. I change batteries twice a day. Never below two bars charged on my I2 when I put them in.
I just picked up a VV Nova atty tonight at my local ecig shop. It looks kinda ridiculous on my eGo battery.
Nice! I have the same, with the tatroe ProTank mod. Looks like how yours does in the pic.
Nice eVic you got there.
It's my new favorite thing.
RocketFish double sided mouse pad ftw!
Had it for years, I use the control side exclusively.
I have the same case :)
How do you like it?
Sorry for cell phone quality
I have that same chair, and it feels like heaven. Do you love yours as well?
I'm sitting in it now. It's new, so it hasn't gotten to the point of free massages, but I'm hoping we will be there soon.
fist bump I see your eagle scout award. Nice goin, brother. Sick set up, btw.
Still one of the greatest achievements of my life. OA by chance? I was elected into Brotherhood just before my Eagle.
Wow, hey, you got Brotherhood? Nice! I'm OA, but just Ordeal. I know, right? It honestly doesn't matter how old I get, I think becoming an Eagle will always be my proudest achievement
Absolutely. Unfortunately I don't know where my Eagle card is, so I can't flash it like a badge. :(
Oh wow, I didn't know they had this. Thanks!
To be honest I don't even know if it's legit. I need my card too....never got one.lol
Well luckily I'm 15 minutes from Irving. Maybe I'll do some more research or call them to confirm it.
Haf X full tower?
Full tower, Thermaltake Overseer. Quiet and when running Skyrim on ultra for example my cores haven't gotten above 50C
Case: Thermaltake Overseer CPU: Intel 3570K Board: Z77X-UD3H Card: Sapphire Radeon 7870XT Power: Seasonic 650w RAM: Crucial ballistix 16G (2x8G) 1 terabyte HDD Samsung 840 120G SSD
I'm actually sitting in that exact chair with that exact footrest under my desk. Gotta love that leather
Nice taste in zero-calorie beverage.
So good, so cheap. SO and I buy it by the case.
I couldn't play on my lap, but nice nonetheless.
First person I've seen with the same case as me!
Man your chair looks comfy as fuck! Where did you get it from?
I actually got it out of a friend's storage. He was downsizing his unit and needed to get rid of it.
I'm not sure how one would do a triple monitor setup with this type of layout. Total assembly cost for this was about $45.00, and that was for the two wall mounts I used (this doesn't include to price of the rig).
You don't sound very handy OR motivated.
Be sure to work on thigh stretches and ass strengthening exercises in the fight against "anterior pelvic tilt."
I'm going to one up you when I get home, dude. Prepare yourself.
No, they are not. You are going to fuck up your back.
Haha no they arent. Where are you going to place your dinner and bong and hot sauce and money and weed and mouse/mousepad and keyboard and snacks?
