That looks like a ~720p LCD? You should get a higher resolution monitor and actually take advantage of that 670.
Resolutions on a TV can be a fickle thing. It may be a 1080p TV but have a native resolution of 1360x768 (I think the 1330 he listed was a typo). Depending on the type of cabling being used, it may show his top resolution as the 1360. (Let's say he's using DVI or HDMI.
He would likely be able to handle higher resolutions over VGA, but then you lose out on contrast.) He still would be able to get 1920x1080 over HDMI with a little registry tweaking.
Hence why I wrote ~720p.
Mine looks gorgeous at 1920 x 1080. It is more than just setting the custom resolution in your video card driver. You will also need to tell your computer to ignore all EDIE info coming from the screen itself. Crappy text is the second sign of scaling issues (the first of which is overscan).
1920x1080 on that TV actually looks alright out of the 7950 on my desktop, but I usually keep that in another room. My older laptop with an ATI 3650 is what I use for the TV. For whatever reason, the ATI Catalyst Control Center doesn't have any scaling options for the 3650, but it does with the 7950. So 1232x684 is one of the HDTV resolutions offered in the ATI software which actually happens to scale decently by default.
Yeah, but it's nice and big for me! The other screen is 23 I think and boasts a higher resolution, but the colours are no where near as sharp
That's seriously low res on a screen that big. To each his own, but I wouldn't be able to stand it, especially sitting that close. I also have a Samsung plasma, 51" though. The colors definitely look amazing, but the 720p resolution sucks.
1134x768 is not over 1080p. The "1080" in 1080p refers to horizontal lines of vertical resolution, while you have only 768.
Ahh, I see.. Bollocks. Well shit on my tits and call me Nancy.
I can't afford a new telly! Haha!
Work with what you got man
This was my first thought. Such a waste of wattage and money...
It annoys me that I can barely afford an HD7770, fx 6300 and 4gb RAM build and you have a gtx 670, i5, 12gb Ram and 1050w PSU and your not even using it remotely to its effect with that resolution. Let alone a 5.1 set up not even set up properly.
Woah, woah the current set up has been an incremental thing. The result of 3 years worth of Christmas, birthdays, favours and most importantly deals and hand-me-downs.
I was joking man. I have no ill hate for someone's pride and joy. I just think that not playing with at 1080p+ with that setup is a little questionable, I mean, my PC would probably perform the same as yours at that resolution.
It's cool, I just thought I'd justify my choices. I pride myself on my selections, and there's just a few things that I can't change!
So clean and I dig your color scheme :)
Waldorf makes me think of the latest CrunchBang (#!) version.
I love what you did with the color scheme! Have you thought of getting bitfenix alchemy 6 pin cable extensions to make the cables running into your graphics card look better?
Thanks, I have been considering sleeving with these, but it means more tools just to do it! They do look nice though!
Your rig looks great, man. Excellent cable management.
Is that the Lachesis and black widow keyboard? I goth both those I freaking love em
Not to doubt the furious hubbub surrounding my rig, but the specs are as such:
What the freaking hell do you need with a kilowatt power supply? You're probably using >30% of that thing's capacity.
Well, it was a cheaper semi-modular solution, with a 7 year warranty. It makes for a clean case in the meantime with less wires, and means I essentially have no power limit when looking to upgrade. The supply also has gold efficiency ratings, so it makes sense for me!
Power supplies run more efficiently and cooler the lower the percentage of max power you pull from it. The 1050w power supply he is using more than likely is pulling less power from the wall than a 750w power supply would, given the same efficiency rating.
That one drive latch thingie being off-centered is driving me nuts.. and the one above it is upside down too.
Yeah, the disc drive and the hard drives don't quite line up. However the top notch has been since changed.
Please move those speakers. Theres more than 2 for a reason.
I know, but this was in a university room, I didn't really have anywhere to pop them without wires trailing everywhere
Even if 2 are behind the screen a bit, and 2 on your side, would make the world of difference.
Extension cable reaches round the back, that was my initial plan but all the power cabling got in the way
That is one really crappy screen to go with a nice computer..
Not really, although the resolution isn't insane, the colours are rich, the blacks are suitably dark and the size is immense. Very immersive gameplay.
