Tempting. An eighteen degree drop in load temperatures would be quite welcome, to say the least. I'm only running at 4.4 right now, so hopefully there's more headroom there.
What other mechanical keyboards have you used? I know the ducky is a more premium one, and i have a blackwidow standard model right now. I was wondering how much of an upgrade it would be to get a nicer mechanical keyboard with reds or blacks or something?
Are you having issues with your Nexus 7? Such as reboots when trying to uninstall apps? Or anything?
Hey I'm not OP but I have the Nexus 7(2013 edition) I am not having any issues with it right now. Ive had it for a little over 2 months now and it had one weird hiccup where it restarted and while it was coming out of the boot up animation and into the lockscreen, half of the screen turned purple. None of the buttons were responding either. I waited about a minute and it just went back to normal and worked perfectly.
Using the Carbon 4.3 Nightly ROMs, and the only issues I've had have been with needing to restart to get WiFi working after too much idle time.
Could you link me the instructions you followed to root and install?
Here's what I'm using right now. There are tons of ROMs on XDA to choose from, but I'm partial to AOSP stuff:
A 6600 GT, I used to have that card. Back when PC gaming was good.
Haha! And back when overclocking involved more than just cranking up a multiplier number.
I caught the Mavic bag and what looks like a skin suit; Do you ride road, track, mtb, a mix?
I'm a roadie, but I've dialed it down a bit since undergrad now that there isn't enough time in the day for all that base training. I sorta miss those wheels even though they were tubulars and you'd always have this feeling that something would go wrong. Riding bombproof 43mm Spinergys now, which are better daily drivers.
I love bitfenix, I use a white colossus. Also the G9X is great, I use one as well.
Logitech warranties are also terrific. I had issues with frayed cables on my first and a too-light right click on my replacement. Quick replacements in the mail without any hassle or need to mail them back.
Yes! I am a huge logitech fanboy. Everything I've ever had by them has been great quality and outlasted everything else. My mouse, keyboard, speakers, and headset are all logitech. Great stuff. I've had a 2 speaker/ sub logitech speaker combo for about 8 years and it still runs strong. (got it at circuit city, that's how old they are!)
Most definitely. The Z-2300 sub I'm using has been with me since the mid-2000s and is still going strong. I ended up selling my warranty replacement after one of the satellites died, but a few spliced cables and some solid bookshelf speakers have brought the sub back to life.
I would be real careful messing around with the CPU like that because if you bend one pin it's trash.
I actually had a bent pin on my motherboard for this build, which led to a few hours spent trying to figure out what was keeping the system from passing POST - the motherboard doesn't have an onboard speaker for error beeps either.
Damn OP, great setup! What are you studying?
Currently a second year law student, so I don't spend nearly as much time as I'd like having fun with the build. The screen real estate has been terrific for having a lot of different sources open at once though!
So maybe I'm blind, but where is your HDD/SSD in the new case? I can't see it in the one picture of the inside you have. Very nice build btw.
How are the Brown Ducky switches?
Terrific. There are times that I'd like the great amount of tactile feedback the Blues offer, but considering the tradeoff that it would require from a noise perspective, I'm more than happy.
Oh wow cool. I am planning to buy a Shine 2 with White Keycaps and Brown switches next week off Newegg. Hows the noise level? DO they have a nice click? This is gonna be my first mechanical.
No actuation point click like the Blues, but the clicks are more than loud enough for me. You get a bit of plate-mounted echo if you're typing really fast, which is something that was off-putting when I first started using it.
Alright. Thanks for the input!
Which camera did you take those close ups of the CPU and the GPU + Mobo shot with? Is it a DSLR of some sort?
Fuji X-E1 with a 60mm f/2.4 Macro, so Mirrorless and not technically DSLR.
Video game ban? Explain plz
Haha, my addiction to Diablo 2 was one of the factors that kept me from doing well in high school. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend a great college despite that, so I decided to take a break from games until I had things under control.
Oh, i thought the school banned the games, i was like how the school gonna ban videogames.
I would've gotten a lot more sleep freshman year if my school did. Roommate was a WoW player who would VoIP rage at raidmates during every time zone imaginable.
