If anyone finds me a keyboard with a form factor similar to the Apple Keyboard, I would definitely consider it. I love the thinness of mine. Blank keycaps would be a plus.
I am familiar with that coolcomputersetups, however, I've never seen anything quite matching my criteria.
Cherry ML Boards suck major dick. I have the G84-4100 just to try out the ML switches, but the switches needed to be lubed before use, as they are pretty rough, and there doesn't exist a single G84 serie keyboard with a decent layout.
I'm aware of that, but I still would recommend Cherry ML over scissor switch.
You would, he wouldn't. It all comes down to opinion.
The Cherry ML keyboards do look a bit thinner than other switches. Though I'd definitely need to try them out before buying.
I once used a thin keyboard like you and thoght it's the best but the the light of cherry mx browns hit me and now I'm saved. May the keyboard-god enlighten you aswell.
Ok, but for real? Get yourself some damn mech switches
Your link doesn't work, fyi.
Works for me. First result when googling Cherry ML, should be a beige board.
Ever since I've used a mechanical keyboard, everything else feels so mushy.
Is it the thinness of the keyboard or the travel distance of the keys that you like? if you put o-rings on mechanical keyboards, the travel time is actually less than scissor switches.
Don't listen to all these guys crying that mechanical keyboards are the only option. I love my filcos, but it took me 3 years to type faster on a mechanical than on my laptop keyboard. There are scissor switch and membrane boards that are not that bad. Apple keyboards are decent.
$80 and not mechanical? Meh
I have a pile of shitty keyboards like that rotting away with various defects. Unresponsive keys, broken backlighting, worn out keycaps... My filco outlasted all of them and is still pretty much like brand new.
My brother got that one for the living room a few years back. Would not recommend, feels mushy.
I have two of these, they feel like any other scissor keyboard
I like that. More than most other keyboards out there. No alternative keys though :(
You mean color modded keys you can switch out?
That's asking a lot for scissor switches.
Mechanical keyboards all the way. Without going completely batshit crazy, you could just get a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. I got one to replace my Dell AT-101 when the spacebar ALPS switch died. Very happy with mine, especially with individual keyboard/mouse key assignments (I have a Deathadder mouse). Has 5 macro buttons as well to the left of the alphanumeric section. Best of all, Cherry MX Blues.
Quickfire Rapid/Poker II/ Logitech G710+/Corsair K70 are all better options.
Have to be careful with Logitech stuff. I once almost bought the older version of this one, til I found out it didn't have n-key rollover and the combination of Shift+Ctrl+W wouldn't input properly. No crouch jumps!
Yeah, aesthetics above function always win =/
Yeah, each one was worse than the last haha, looked like a fun time though.
Logitech G710+ Mechanical keyboard FTW.
What games were you guys playing? I wish I had friends that could get together and do this. I've been a part of a LAN party probably 3 or 4 times and it was awesome.
Not everyone had the same games, so sometimes we split up into groups of different games. But everybody played Burnout Paradise, most of us played BF3 and Planetside 2, and afterwards a few us played a couple hours of BF4.
I played BF4 on PS3 this weekend, it was pretty badass. I wish my machine could run it in max settings then I would get it for the PC. Currently my gaming setup is awaiting a new hard drive; after this weekend hopefully its up and running like a champ!
I believe Computer 2 would be able to play BF4 on Ultra with absolutely no issues... sadly his game of choice seems to be Crossfire...
Haha, I will some day have that. That graphics card has some pretty nice reviews.
What were the last 2 computers playing? i can't imagine that 2.2 ghz core duo was playing BP or BF3/PS2
Wow, this brings back a lot of great memories for me. These were the kind of LAN parties my friend's and I did all the time- right down to the not-really-gaming-but-still-geeky kind of stuff, like the one kids programming, or the guy with the crazy audio mixing equipment.
Absolutely! Part of the fun of these is the random stuff we show off and just talk about.
Theres always "that" laptop guy.
It's like the unspoken, unbroken rule of lan parties.
The fucker always has to borrow your spare mousepad and mouse, it's inevitable
Is the person at computer 6 programming at a LAN party?
I am getting 8 gigabytes of ram in like a week
Hahaha so you finally made a Coolcomputersetups account. Clever username too haha.
Yes, he was haha. I think he was making a small webpage to which we could all share stuff on the projector (posts, pictures, etc).
That HP media center on the end, image 23 is the exact pc I had before I made the case jump. I still have its hard drive in my computer, it is 180 gb at 5400 but I can't part with it.
Yep, that thing's a classic.
PLEASE PLEASE tell me what those monitors on computer 2 are the silver ASUS ones.
Yeah they're really nice - I don't understand why they don't have VESA mount holes though... Why ASUS - WHY!
I think VESA mount capability should be a requirement for monitors, period. My personal monitors don't have them either, luckily some guy in Canada was selling custom made adapter plates that I bought and used.
If you look at any monitor as thin as those they don't have VESA mounts. That and they have external power bricks. It's how they make them that small.
That does make sense actually.
I came to ask the same question, then realized it was already asked.
First time I've seen a fello NZXT H2
Jesus, what is it that you all do that uses so much RAM?
Personally, video editing. I have 16 GB.
Yes! I can always spot a fellow editing/motion gfx machine. The subsequent question (in gaming/computer setup threads) is always "dude why so much ram?" Or "OMG u no need dat much ram"... But yes we do need dat much ram. I have 32 gigs and After Effects fills it all the time in my workflow.
Oh especially After Effects. That is the very definition of ram usage ;)
Can you please upload or give me link to the wallpaper which was on computer 4? Thanks
Oh snap, so sorry. I was so sure I posted the right one that I didn't even double check. I'll post it as soon as I find it.
Thank you so much! :)
You can tell your Buddy with the i5 2500k he should overclock that beast. Why would he have gone for the k if he uses the stock 3.3Ghz if you can easily hit 4,8 for pretty much nothing.
Not everyone lives with his parents anymore who pay the power bill
You would use Offset, disable some settings and pump the turbo a tiny amount since you can increase the multiplier from stock greatly. So you would just use a bit more power and only if you need them. He could have saved 100 Bucks if he went for the regular i5 2500...
Living near microcenter, buying K sku is the cheapest way b/c only $199 for i5, $30-45 off motherboard. And $10 off ram if I need it. And $10 off SSD (Not the best deal, cancelled by TX tax). Techie wonderland, just know the plan beforehand. Less consumer friendly than my dad's back-issue comic store. Everything is in boxes lined up on shelves.
What did you guys use as a space and where did you get the folding tables? (It doesn't look like somebody's house and my guess is you rented those tables but I'm just curious if there's a clever place to get those things that I haven't though of)
This was actually done at a church most of us attend. That's also where we got the tables. However, I've also done them at my house, at other people's houses and I'm keeping an eye out for a warehouse for an even bigger party.
What software is open on the computer 6 image?
Haha nice setup! I love your pictures... I wish I could take half as nice ones.
Thanks man, I'm jelly of your SSD! I have a DSLR, which is the main reason, haha. You get amazing quality.
Computer 6 "Quick, let me pull up some code to make it look like im doing something important" ( at a lan party of :p )
What is the wallpaper that the Server/Host has? I love it!
At first glance with #15 i was like... "who the fuck eats all those lemons?!"
My first thought is how hot that room must have gotten. All of those PC's in a room must have made it pretty toasty! I don't think I've ever been to a lan party where I wasn't sweating bullets.
Actually, quite the contrary. The room had a suitable A/C, and a few people were complaining of it being too cold.
AC?! how do you know you're having fun unless you can smell it?! :-)
What case is computer 5?
Holy hell. First pic, purple lights, what case is that!? Looks awesome and I want one.
What part of the country was this lan?
I can't see the details on your keyboard on my phone, but did you just spray paint the key caps black, so no labels are showing?
How did you know which order to put the keys back on- ...oh wait.
Ah you painted them. I was hoping you dyed them, which I am thinking about doing for my wireless.
Hmm.. I haven't actually looked into dyeing them. Know of any good tutorials/explanations? Sounds like it might create a more permanent coating.
I haven't looked into it yet. I know of a plastic dye called rit dye which you bring to a boil allowing it to seep into the components. I want to check if it's compatible with the plastic the keys are made of (I'm guessing ABS), and if the keys are safe from deformation at that temperature before I try anything.
Pic 4 on the right is that a NZXT source 210 case i see?/pic 15 yes it is :D
Came on, no AMD CPU.
That is good rite ;D
Lol, all those chiclet keyboards
Who fucking needs girls when you got 12 buds that can have a lan party with. I would do this every damn friday.
Jesus christ how do you mother fuckers game on an apple keyboard. I've used one before and man for me it was utter garbage for gaming.
So much Nvidia :( Not enough AMD/ ATI/ Radeon.
I can't handle the amount of virginity in these pictures.
