Computer Setup

Enjoy that 7970 buddy. Got that exact one and it's working a charm for me atm :)
Oh I am haha. I booted up campaign on Battlefield 4 on ultra last night and was completely blown away. Definitely worth the investment. Especially considering that I was originally going to go with the 7850.
I too have that exact card. Its amazing, and extremely good value. Had it for a year now and its still running everything on max very smoothly.
I have a 7850 and I'm fiending to pick up a 280x. They're 7970ghz rebranded.
Ex-7850 2GB owner here. It was an awesome card that was nearly silent under full load, overclocked like a beast, and ran the majority of games at high settings at 1080p. Buuuuut there were always those times when I knew it could be better. My recently purchased 7970 runs everything smooth as butter with room to spare.
I just got two from my buddy. They are Crossfired and they are fucking amazing.
Your buddy is a smart, generous and loaded man.
He bought them used on Kijiji. I believe they were about $240 a piece. I also got his case, motherboard, and cpu - all for $750. He's crazy.
Can uh... can you introduce me? I've needed a water cooling unit for a bit :)
Have you had any problems overclocking with the trixx program? I have had the screen flicker and my games have been artifacting if I overclock to 1100 MHZ
I haven't overclocked mine yet, sorry buddy. I do get very frequent artifacting problems though, probably just need to wipe videoo drivers and redownload honestly. :c
Ya, this card has been kind of sketchy for me ever since I got it, and I feel like the performance is inconsistent. I dont know, I might just have some games be capped by my cpu performance, I have an fx-4100
Yeah, it seems weird that performance seems to be bottlenecking. I'm sat on an i7 over here and frame drops in certain games are very minimal.
Nice set up man I like the black and red theme and that chair looks very comfortable where did you get it?
Thanks man! I got the chair from Amazon. Honestly though, I don't know why the three people that reviewed it gave it crappy remarks. This thing is solid. You sink right down into it haha. It's very comfortable. Definitely worth the price I paid.
You should leave a review!
Came here for the chair as well. Very nice.
With only 3 reveiws. I have no idea what those people were complaing about. Its nice and comfortable as hell.
You should add your review thing then.
I definitely will. I just got it yesterday so I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Oh that makes sense....also recommendations for a small(or normal sized) pc chair for less then $75? (my chair has been worn down to the base and it sucks sitting in)
Wouldn't that hurt to sit on?
Question for you: when the chair leans back, does the base lean back with it or does the back lean independently?
Independently. But it doesn't go back that far at all unfortunately.
Amazon reviewers can be enormous idiots.
Actually, they're the ones who told me to post this over here lol
Lol The title made me wonder about that.
Ah, I did a search for this. Good man for the invite.
AeroCool Mechatron Black Edition PGSB
Came here to say nice desk. I have it and love it.
Same! I have this desk and it works very well for all the shit I have.
Exactly I have like all my systems and stuff on my desk and my PC.
I keep my 24" monitor, audio receiver, DJ controller, fish tank, and record player on it and still have space.
Nice!! That chair looks nice, and it's cool to see someone use Aerocool as I am too :) But mine isn't as cool as yours :p
I had to have an AeroCool XPredator X1 Devil Red Edition shipped from the UK in order to get my hands on one here in the states, but it was worth it just for the looks
I like the setup. One question: how do you deal with the mouse and keyboard being at different levels? I think that would drive me crazy.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me. But this is my very first PC so I was never accustomed to ever having it any other way. As far as my keyboard, this one is not mechanical. But, it's also not mine. My keyboard was literally the only thing that wasn't eligible for Amazon Prime shipping so a buddy of mine is letting me use his spare until mine gets here later today.
What keyboard did you get? I have a Nighthawk x8 by MaxKeyboards and it's just the best thing ever
I got the MadCatz Cyborg
Nice. What kind of switches are in those? I'm a fan of the browns. A mechanical keyboard will be one of your best purchases ever. I promise.
No one is ever commenting on this so i am going to.
I did it because I live in an apartment with 3 cats. I dont want them rubbing on it and sucking up all the cat hair.
Ah see that makes a lot of sense! Thank you :)
Also, dust all falls to the floor - the closer your PC is to that shit, the more of it you need to clean out of your PC.
There is a reason they are called a "desktop". That being said it is a matter of taste, some people like looking at it wiz away, some people like you and me like it under the desk (hopefully propped on a piece of wood or something).
Why propped om a peice of wood?
That's one hell of a 'transition'.
Good luck with that mobo if it's the one I think it is (G970-G43 (or G46). it DOES NOT work with 8core processors as I learned (the hard way) Plus DO NOT try to overclock it as there's only a 4+1 VRM. they will overheat and die like there's no tomorrow.
I have the same memory. Nice build!
I am very jealous of your setup. Welcome to the master race.
Thanks man. It's good to be here
Make them cables a little prettier and get a smaller mouse pad (just to make thing look cleaner)
I plan on doing both things haha. I just set it all up yesterday so by the time I was done building, cables were the least of my concerns. I also forgot to order a mouse pad with everything (there's always something you forget) so Im using my Magic the Gathering playmat until I decide to run to Target to pick one up.
Wow, I have the same hardware setup! Good job, but add a third monitor. Triple screen Battlefield is amazing!
I used the have the same desk. $200 at Staples.
Really? Wow, I got it for a steal then. Only paid $80 for it
Also have the same desk. I got it at some liquidation outlet for $60 I believe.
You definitely came onto the scene with gusto my friend!
Very nice, I also am very much debating making the switch. As your first setup, what was your budget and ending price??
Hahaha my budget was $700-$1000. My ending price was $1960.
Anyone else get excited when they see other peoples parts before the assembly? Really takes you back to the time when you built your first PC.
Hey, I sort of want to build a computer, too, but I don't have any experience. How difficult was it?
Honestly, 2 of my good friends ended up putting it all together for me haha. I started to attempt to do it myself but they just pushed it aside and did it. Still, with those 2 being as experienced as they were, it too about 3-4 hours to get all together.
HaHa! Your right...should of been obvious to me :)
Now do you understand where all that die hard pc love comes from. Nice set up!
Sweet rig, but I have to say I could never stand the mouse up on the desk while the keyboard is on the slider. It would drive me nuts! Both up or both down for me. Otherwise everything else is fucking sweet!
They are not. They are Arion Soundstage 2.1 speakers
I'll get to it. I just need to go to Target or something to pick up some zip ties. I know, it's bothering me too lol
I'd highly recommend getting velcro strips instead. Multiple uses and easy to move. I made the switch from zips to velcro when I moved and I'm never going back.
Good idea! I never thought of that. Velcro would look a lot better instead of plastic ties. Thanks!
You'll never forget your first.
You are gonna regret that placement of keyboard. I find that very odd placed below the table and below mouse height. :)
Absolutely not, I hate wireless anything lol. I'm actually not minding the keyboard down here at all. But I'm sure that'll change once I have time to sit down and start playing games.
Awesome! Just in time for Battlefield 4!
Attaboy! You're a man now.
Looks good. I did a black and red build myself this year. I also have the one issue you have - wire maintenance.
Nice, I can't tell but are those headphones on top of the case? If not then you should consider getting some.
Yes they are. They are the Halo 4 edition Tritons.
Nice FX chip,is that the vishera 4.2 quad? I have that one and its insanely fast.
Nice set up! Word of caution with that mother board, however. I have used that for work to fulfill the need for a dual GPU rig. I burnt out the northbridge on two of these mother boards and finally settled for a Gigabte 990. The MSIs are great single GPU boards, but just a word of caution.
Am I the only one who thinks that they're NEVER "told" to post here? We're already subscribed to the coolcomputersetups. It's okay. Just post!
Welcome to the club brother.
I have the same desk, really comfortable and affordable too, good choice!
I have that desk and it is absolutely terrible, Modded the crap out of it
Welcome to where the grass is truly greener. Nice rig!
Very nice and welcome to the master race :)
Welcome brother, GabeN be praised !
I've got the same motherboard! Which processor is that?
It's the AMD 8350 4.0gh 8-core. And thanks! I already love it so much better. I bought a quad core laptop back in June so I got a little taste of it. Once I got my Steam account and got a little more into PC gaming, I knew I needed to switch and do it right.
I have the same motherboard too. Be careful overclocking the CPU with that board. Your CPU is 125w which the VRM on the motherboard will not get on with when your start to increase voltages. I've read about a lot of VRMs blowing on that board.
As of right now, I'm going to completely steer clear over overclocking. There really is no need for it atm. But if I decide to ever dabble in that, I'll take your advice. Thanks!
As a fellow 8350 owner, when you do dabble into overclocking, going from 4.0 to 4.2ghz makes a noticeable difference.
Awww yeah, RAT 5. Still can't stand the fact that they're made by Madcatz now. I love that mouse.
Madcatz is starting to very quietly make a name for itself. The keyboard I ordered was even Madcatz. I didn't even notice that until after I had already said how much I liked it. By then it was too late to say it sucked haha
If they're turning their company around, I welcome it. I'd love to get RAT 7/9.
I've had my RAT 9 just over a year and its bloody fantastic.
FedEx got here with my new keyboard about 10mins ago. Its a damn Madcatz and I didnt even realize it lol. Its a Madcatz Cyborg.
If they haven't changed the manufacturing in any way, you're probably still good. Cyborg stuff was built pretty well. Hell, my RAT 5 still has the Cyborg logo instead of Madcatz.
Rat 5 and madcatz can go to hell, broke after about a week, was moving the cursor around when the mouse wasn't moving, the back button got stuck and wouldn't move. Shit.
Had my RAT 9 for over a year now, god I love it.
Why does it matter that you were told to post it
People advise people where people will like to see people's things.
Welcome to the PC master race.
Sweet rig man. Welcome to the master race. Is that board capable of crossfire?
It is indeed. I want to get a third monitor so I can make use of the eyefinity as well.
Nice. I have a buddy who runs 3 monitors, does professional virtual airshows (Didn't even know it was a thing until recently, even has the head-tracking hardware to make it more realistic). What kind of genres you into?
I love western style RPGs, stuff like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Fable, the big open world types. I love 3rd person action adventure too. I don't really play very many FPS games, except of course, for Borderlands. It's one of my favorites. I'm really just waiting until Elder Scrolls Online comes out. I'm so damn excited for that. That was another reason I wanted to get into PC gaming because there was no way I was going to play an MMO with a controller. I might have been a stupid console peasant, but I wasn't THAT stupid lol
Haha well I was going to say, have a look on steam...there are a lot of hidden gems, and many times at little cost or even free-to-play that you might want to check out. If you were a fan of Diablo 2, there's a game called Path of Exile that's "supposed to be what Diablo 3 wasn't." Also free to play. The best aspects of the PC gaming community are all of the small projects that thousands of people get involved with, and help evolve the game to a huge level. I honestly can't believe some of these games are free.
Welcome to real gaming my friend, pretty sick first PC setup!
Go big or go home haha. I figured if I was going to spend money, I might as well spend money and do it right
Welcome to the master race! I really like your case, and choice of chair.
That''s funny you should mention the big pads because I completely forgot to order a mouse pad so right now I'm using my Magic the Gathering playmat lol
I Love the ripper pad. Its fantastic. I always had a "wandering mouse" and I would always fall off one of the tiny ones, This big one is just.. awesome.
That mouse is a piece of garbage. Please be prepared to replace it in about 4 months.
I've had mine for more than half a year and don't have any problems with it. Just because it broke early for you it doesn't mean it's a bad mouse, you most likely just had bad luck
My RAT 7 died in like an hour. The second one they sent me started malfunctioning after like a month. Using a $30 gigabyte mouse now and it is much better.
Well as I said, it wasn't that "It" broke early for me, it's that a total of eight failed Rat mice were experienced. I think that's a fairly appropriate sample size to make a judgement based upon.
My buddy has had his Rat5 for almost a year. It's still running fine.
Of course I hope he gets years of use out of his, in my experience and the experiences of my friends, the Rat5, 7 and 9s all have terrible reliability.
It's okay, you can go ahead and correctly call it an "upgrade" to PC gaming.
Welcome to the dark side young padawan.
