What is that thing your MacBook is in? How do you set it up to work while closed?

I've been thinking of doing a similar setup myself, with the main PC tower and a macbook on a dock nearby. How is it all hooked up on yours? Do you have a KVM switch or anything?
It's hooked up to the TV at the moment, just using hdmi (The tv has multiple hdmi inputs, so I have both computers hooked up to it.) I also have it set up to help with renders through my local network.

Are those two 27" S series monitors from Dell? Both monitors hooked up to the mac?
They're actually 23" (Dell S2340L). Both are hooked up to the PC. The mac is hooked up to the TV.
