So... there's a chance of actually winning using scratch offs...
Yep. I nearly shit my pants when I won.
BRB buying 1,000 scratch off tickets
I promise you that that is a bad investment.
Unless half of them are $1000 winners, then he's going to fly to your house and beat the shit out of you for not believing in him.
... I think I'm gonna go buy that shotgun I've been considering.
Better start grabbing scratch off tickets then! :D
You are the ones who are the ball lickers!
Reminds me of that Rob and Big episode where the spend all their money on lottery tickets and don't win a thing.
Thanks! Spent a lot of time finding decent compatible parts that matched.
That's what I'm planning to do with my next build. I'm going to get a corsair D900.
Are you planning on doing some custom watercooling? I can't imagine using a case that large otherwise.
Ya that's the plan. I should have enough for my build by the end of next month.
If you are in the market for a 900d I would definitely look into the new case phanteks has. It has some pretty amazing features with a great design.
Just checked that case out. Looks crazy awesome.
OK ill check it out thanks for the recrimination.
That was auto correct lol. How did I not notice that!
How much in taxes did you have to pay?
Too much. Guess I can't complain though, it took care of Christmas and most of a new build.
I'm assuming American but do you guys have to pay taxes on winnings like lotto and scratchies?
Depends on how much you win
Oh wow in Australia you can win 70 million on lotto and pay no tax.
I buy off newegg and Amazon all the time. Borderlinx is amazing. Australia has horrible prices on almost everything usually it's cheaper to just buy from the us and ship it here. I'm just not game to do it on CPUs or GPUs yet. Although I've never had a defective part yet but I'm still worried.
You could use amazon but then no more 70 mil because shipping.
Makes a mean keyboard pizza.
Which keyboard is it? I'm assuming mechanical.
Corsair K65. Yes mechanical with cherry mx reds, and its a TKL (ten key less - no numpad).
Would like to clarify some things for everyone.
Congrats on winning and enjoy your sweet sweet new rig
Thanks man, I appreciate it
Yo buy me like 30 pizzas.
The question is, how much have you spent on lotteries in your life time.
You can safely and simply overclock your haswell. I'm running my 3.4 at 4.2 no problems.
Ya know, I just realized that speccy doesn't show the overclocked speed in the overview. You have to go into the CPU detail in order to see it. I actually have it at 4.4 now.
Oh man. That was money well spent.
Just wondering, Why did you choose RAM clocked so low. At only 800Mhz? Most RAM comes at, at least 1333Mhz, or 1600Mhz.
Dual data rate - it's always reported at half. It's 1600mhz. :)
It's a method of reading the speed and it's usually one half of the advertised value, it's correctly running the 1600MHz you're referring to I would guess. I incorrectly replied that it was 800 per channel, but I actually think it's just a formal measurement thing thing. CPUZ will read the same.
What headset do you have? Saw the green in the last photo and it caught my eye.
And they're white, not green. I have LED lights behind my monitor that are just lighting up my headset in that picture.
Skullcandy PLYR1. Don't let the brand fool you, it's an excellent headset. They reach all the way across my apartment, last 6ish hours, and charge in 1 hour. Plus they look awesome ;)
Logitech G930 are my favorite. 12 in one charge at just over an hour charge. Went across my house aswell. I got some friends who use those Skullcandys, My heads just weird and they dont fit right. Still dope tho.
How do you like the TT mouse? I dont know of anyone who has that yet and I eyeball it weekly in frys. :3
It took some getting used to. It's a medium weight mouse. It's difficult at first to pick it up without pushing the side buttons. Other than that, the customization is awesome, both with macros and lights, insane dpi (I never go above 2200 though).
So much great stuff here, but the cabling under the desk is my favorite part.
Thanks! I hate cables, so so much. I'm a cable management snob. They might look kinda sloppy, but I will be taking this thing to LAN parties every month or so. I put in a lot of planning so that some cables are secured, and some are easily accessible when I need to move this around.
How's that rug with the chair? Did you buy it specifically to enclose your computer setup area?
Works fine with the chair, actually (I was worried about that).
Man, the things I would do for two GTX 780ti cards.
I would do insane things for another 780Ti, but I don't know what I would do with them...
Give them to me. :D
With SLI 780Ti's, you could run 4k at almost 60fps on the most demanding games out there today. Too bad two of those cost almost as much as my entire setup...
Because I have <10% of what that costs lol.
What kind of temps are you getting on your GPU after a bit of gaming?
~75C, not bad considering the size of the case, and the proximity to the PSU. I get okay airflow, but I'm saving for a few things i.e. 1440p monitor and some better fans.
That's about what I get, yeah I'm getting an intake fan for the bottom of my case to feed air directly into my GPU fan
That's not bad. I get around 65C on my 770 with the Fractal R4 case (with a good bit of fans)
I used RAID0 in a laptop before and it caused a lot of problems in getting data off of the drive when the mobo eventually died. Just a thought, congrats on the win.
How do you like that monitor? I'm getting my taxes back soon and I'm thinking about picking one up now that my setup can actually run most games at high enough framerate to go above that 60Hz threshold. Are the colors just like most other TN panels, because I've heard that higher refresh rate TN panels generally have worse colors? Nice setup, and thanks for answering if you do!
Admittedly the color is lackluster on this monitor. But you simply cannot beat the price/performance.
How are you organizing your cords? I have a similar desk and I need that for mine as well.
What case Is that i'm looking to buy a new one
I was considering getting this case, but I wasn't sure as it is only micro-atx. Do you think it's worth getting a smaller board to get this beautiful case?
Well what graphics card are you using? Are you doing overclocking? If you are, you might consider a higher wattage PSU. Also, if you're overclocking you will want more cooling than what comes stock.
Just got it to 4.4. Speccy doesn't show the overclocked value for some reason.
Can I ask why does it say you only have 800mhz speed of ram?
Dual data rate. It's always reported at half.
Can someone explain to me how you get to picture 13? I would like to see my computer stats like that. Thanks
I have the Asus VG248QE and while I don't have the gpu for 3D I am super stoked. She is a beautiful monitor.
What program do you use to show those specs and temps?
On your video card pic what is in front of it next to the i/o plate? Looks like a lil board with two wires running from the psu
Very Nice! I keep seeing people talk about this Asus monitor. I might have to look into it. I want to upgrade my dual Dell IPS LED 23.6" 60Hz monitors. :)
I was thinking the same thing!
Specs look good, but Windows 8.1, augh.
I love windows 8. It's fast, and I don't use the stupid "metro" interface. I use "Windows Start is Back", so I have a start button like the days of windows 7.
I didn't spend it all on this build. In fact I still have a decent chunk left. I had some parts already, like keyboard, mouse, monitor, SSD and HDD and PSU. I sold the other components from my old rig, paying for the difference with some of my winnings.
