So weird question here... Where did you buy the shelf, like a local homedepot or something of that nature?
Not a weird question at all. The one on the right is a plain wire bakers rack, I believe I got it at Lowes. It's perfect for managing a ton of components and wires. The one on the left is from IKEA.
I didnt even realize there were two. Thank you! Been meaning to find some additional storage.
That's the one, thanks! I couldn't seem to find it for some reason. They're worth every penny.
No problem. I used to use one of my Glock TekMat's until my dog mauled it......I wanted to get one that my KB and Mouse sat on and this is perfect.
The custom butcher block top on my desk seems light now. Thanks! (Also, just a bit jelly.)
I'd like to hear more about those newer model Airport Extremes. What sort of improvements did you see?
Major improvements in both signal strength and transfer speeds.
I now recognise you by your desk.
Just a tip about the Blue Yeti. Talk in front of it [where the Blue logo is] rather than the top.
Good point, I was doing some testing yesterday and I noticed how much better it sounds when you're about 3 inches away.
Best desk I've seen on this coolcomputersetups
I love the desk, tow much did it cost you?
$0. He said if I could haul it away it was mine. I imagine it would be close to a grand to have made custom.
I was about to make fun of you having such a nice table, then a Mac Mini. Now I'm just jealous.
Don't sell the Mac Mini short, it is a fantastically capable little can-do machine.
Yeah, $2000 worth of monitors and then a meagre like $700 for the M-ITX.
Between the ram upgrade and the SSD, as well as all of the accessories, it's closer to $1000 machine.
I like the desk. I assume it's a kitchen countertop and some legs?
I occasionally do that. But my stuff is no where near as nice as yours.
This is my battle-station. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
(yours) you know what I mean haha
I saw your name tag and it said Captain USMC? You are/was a captain in the marines?
It belonged to my paternal grandfather
I totally get the dual thunderbolt displays, I don't think it gets much better than that... But, that's one pricey chair.
Sweet. Have a pic of 'before' ?
Marble table is the way to go!!
Looks like tan brown to me.
Granite comes in multiple colors.
Tan brown is a specific type/color of granite. I'm pretty sure that's what you have there.
Just a question, why would you make yourself use that tiny-cramp inducing keyboard and mouse? I mean I get the apple look, but there are plenty of apple-looking keyboard/mice that are far more comfortable that won't break the style you're looking for.
I am one of those who love their keyboards and mice. As I often swap between a desktop and a notebook, everything is the same no matter where I am. The keys are spaced perfectly for me. I have what you see on the desk, and I use an Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse at work, as well. There's something to be said for consistency.
Fair enough.
I was a complete apple user all the way up until a year and a half ago, when I built my first PC.
I know, I was just making a reference to the keyboards I used growing up.
That is my keyboard. I can't go back to anything else now.
A lot of people seem to like Apple keyboards. They have a similar following to mechanical keyboards. I don't really get it, but my best guess would be that you just get used to it. I personally feel like I'm typing on a laptop when I use my mom's Mac, and I used to like my laptop keyboard a lot when I still used it.
Yeah, as I said in reply to his other comment, I've used those apple keyboards for years, and I loved them.
They're particularly well built for membrane keyboards. The G4 era ones bottomed out particularly quietly and softly. Unfortunately they also have individual elastomer springs for each key instead of a full sheet, which makes cleaning and repairs suck.
