Very nice upgrade. Do you stand on a memory foam pad?
I do not. In the rare event I get fatigued, I just take my shoes off and stand around in my socks for a while.
What's it like standing all day? Do any other coworkers have standing desks?
One of the best choices I've made, really. I started standing in 2012 because I just felt like shit all day long. Sitting in a chair from 7:30am-6:30pm, Monday-Friday, then going home and sitting in another chair until 2 or 3am was just terrible. It took about a week of standing to acclimate to it then another year or so of minute adjustments to height, monitor distance, etc.
I finally caved and bought this shitty little coffee table and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner, it is perfect.
Did you used to have a really shitty chair before? Wouldn't it be easier just to get a new chair?
I had a super plush, hella comfy chair actually. Easier? Yes. Better? No.
If your chair was comfy and had good ergonomics (presumably) why would you go to a standing desk?
For a number of reasons, but mainly to feel like I wasn't just lolling in my chair like a slug.
Cool. I like to loll so I'll wait for the lying desk craze to catch on :)
+1 for the Men In Black 2 reference and nice gaming setup. Old busted hotness.
I feel sorry for you. That Mitel 5340 and the 3300 it's probably connected to is the bane of my existence. Workstation looks boss though.
Can't you afford a chair? sucks man I'm Sorry to hear it.
