Hey everyone! This guy's a nerd!
Yeah, I agree. Huge nerd.
Soooo Explain the sever(i think that's what it is) and also the plex server
Server is an HP DL380 G5 that I installed VMWare ESXi onto. I am currently getting training at work for VSphere and will be using this to assist my trainig. The Plex Server is pointed at my NAS and used with my Google Chromecast. Makes accessing your media simple and it organizes and add all the artwork, music, etc for the show or movie.
I think that makes sense, thanks
I've got a couple of Dell Poweredge 1435s. I tried hooking one up in my apartment and it was just too loud. Any special tricks to dampen the noise?
Luckily the G5 isn't terribly loud at idle. I'll most likely end up relocating it to my coat closet and I'll never hear it.
What is it with Ikea furniture being so useful for server racks? I smell an IT conspiracy.
Is that Bitfenix Prodigy the Mini-ITX or Micro-ATX model?
I wish when I was working IT my manager let me learn how to set up servers. I always wanted a set up at home for all the videos and everything I download
That 60" Sharp TV has a goregous design. Looks great.
Thanks, its an excellent TV and very reasonably priced.
Vertically stacked monitors represent!
Your network extender doesn't have GPS lock and it shows it's not working. You need all blue lights.
I had just plugged it in, takes a few minutes to go all blue
#5 Did you remove the jacket from your network cables???
Yup. The one twisted pair pulled out of the sleeve then I pulled them all out and figured I'd wire one up sleeveless. Looked kinda cool so I did another one the same way.
How do you like the G5? I'm on the hunt for a cheap, but powerful server solution.
Its old hardware but for what I'm using it for its fine. Its been powered off for the most part and just using it when I mess around in VSphere. I just set the server up yesterday.
