It looks like he used a riser cable and mounted the video card to the +1 expansion slot on the case. I think it actually make it look a lot cooler, probably helps with cooling if he has a vent on the side of the case for the fans to blow out.
I feel like that puts a ton of unnecessary torque on the card's bracket...
