1440p Monitor - Computer Setup

Clean look, love it. How do you like those A5+ speakers?? I've been thinking about picking up a set sometime in the near future. They look great in bamboo, this post has me sold on paying the up-charge for that option.
I love the A5+'s. The subwoofer is a wonderful indulgence. Not super necessary, but I find it complements the dynamics of the speakers immensely.
Does the bass feel like it can sometimes drown the sound a bit? I just got my HD 650's and they are known for having weak bass, although i consider it to be pretty damn powerful.
I got the same screensaver as you! Had to put that out there.
I was looking at some A5+ also. But I think have to buy a sub with them to get the best out of them.
I own the original A5's and they are fantastic. I haven't really felt the need for a sub, although, I'm not a huge bass lover. Honestly though, these really shine in the mid-range. From what I understand, the A5+'s aren't terribly different component wise.
I've seen some people say they work great without a sub. I listen to mostly classic rock and trance. I use Logitech z5300 (or something). They seem to be okay, but everyone seems to say that the A5/A5+ kick major ass.
What's the backlightning in this? I'm looking for something similar.
I'm using 2 sets of Ikea Dioder lights. $40, really nice effect.
If it's not too much trouble, can you link the specific ones you use?
Thanks so much! Do you wish you would have bought different strips or are you happy with those?
The only other option I would prefer would be the Philips Hue LED light strips for IP based control over colour, power and IFTTT integration, but the whole setup would cost over $300 for my needs.
Oh damn. What would be the benefit of using them if you had the means to get them?
With IFTTT integration I could have the lights change colour when I get an email or when there is a new article in an RSS feed, or use a third part app that uses the Hue SDK for synchronizing the lights to music. The ikea lights have a little control box for changing the colour, but there is no integration with the internet.
Ooh, yes. I want that way more. Thank you for the recommendation!
Looks pretty good. Would you mind telling me what desk that is?
It's probably the ikea galant. it's always the ikea galant
Building my own desk for this very reason.
Ikea Galant is correct. It's the grey finish, with the less common chrome legs.
What about the tray mounts? Love the set up btw.
People like you restore my faith in humanity. Cheers!
We share a common opinion. This is my favorite room of your house too.
Love how everything is mounted, very clean and neat looking.
I love the idea of a projector. It looks so clean.
God damn.. anyone else got hard upon seeing this?
You bastard, this is what I dream about.
Haters gonna hate? More like jealouses gonna jell.
Be careful with how you tie up your Ethernet Cable. Strong kinks can negatively affect your connection.
I am writing this comment just to let you know i'm jealous of the DAC the speakers and the headphones. They must sound divine playing lossless music.
How do you listen to Lossless on the Mac? ALAC? I could never find any suitable solution to play my FLACs on OS X.
The files are in aiff and I use an app called BitPerfect which plays the files and iTunes acts as the interface / front end. BitPerfect is in the App Store and the sound is phenomenal.
Can I live with you?
Easily one of the best on this sub. Very tasteful and very well done.
Thank you very much. I've been subscribed to this sub for a while and have been inspired by so many great setups. When we renovated our home, I made it my mission to make the space really special. Glad you enjoy.
Great station! Would you mind sharing the wallpaper on the center monitor and airplay projection?
It is actually a wallpaper included with the latest beta of OSX Mavericks. I haven't seen it on the web. When I'm back home, I'll look to get it uploaded for you.
Great, thanks! Now that you mention it, how are you liking Mavericks?
It's fantastic. The changes to how OS X handles multiple monitors makes the system so much more effective and useful.
How does the D1 do at driving the HE-400s?
To be honest, not as well as I'd hoped. It certainly isn't horrible, but I want to upgrade so that I can really crank them.
That cable management is sexy af tho
This is an insanely nice setup!
How did you do the keyboard and mouse trays? Looks fantastic.
Another ikea part. Due to the size of my keyboard and amount of peripherals I needed two. Took some careful planning to fasten them appropriately.
One of the nicest gaming setups I've seen in a while. Nice man
Dope Ikea Galant desk with length extension, but I prefer the T-legs over the A-legs.
Awesome Setup man:) The Mx680 kicks ass for its size.
Gotta love all that wireless right by your balls.
What are you using for a headphone stand?
The usb 3.0 mount looks really sleek. Any way you could post a link to which one you have. Your setup is insane, love the bamboo
Great setup. I'm a huge fan of the recent iMacs, they're great pieces of kit.
Im sorry do you live in an alternate universe where they arnt overpriced all in one machines?
Thats fucking sexual. So what desk is that?
I have been meaning to put my equipment on the underside of my desk also but am unsure of how to go about it. How did you do it?
Use Velcro brand strips with adhesive undersides for the components. Very effective.
I thought the remote in the first picture was a piece of silverware.
It's a Toshiba data projector. Just 720P, but just fine for Plex, Netflix, and XBOX.
I see you are a big Coldplay fan.
Where did you get the little footrest? I like to put my feet up and could use a nice short stool like that.
I picked it up from target of all places
So you're saying that if you bought it more than a month ago that I'm out of luck.
Yeah, pretty much. Any pouffe or ottoman is really nice under the desk.
Could anyone please tell me where i can buy that headphone holder?:O
I picked it up from massdrop a little while ago. Cost around $40.
Where did you get the wooden headphone stand? That looks great.
What are you using to mount everything on the underside? Just screws?
What are you using for the headphones rest? It looks like really nice bent hardwood.
What do you have running on the monitor on the far left? It seems like some Google TV equivalent, everyone seems to have that software on here.. I thought it was iTunes at first.
Very nice setup it looks super clean. How well does the 680mx perform in games (if you game)? I've always been curious.
I wish I had money.
What do you need 16GB of RAM for? Let me guess, photo editing/3D modeling.
Watch out somebody called the ram brigade.
When you have multiple monitors it's a lot easier to end up with photoshop, a movie, a game, a few dozen tabs of chrome and some apps open at the same time. 16 gigs can be a big difference.
Very brave of you to post a mac based gaming setup on here. Nice setup nonetheless.
Build and all that jazz? Like the keyboard, if you could give me the name of that, I'd appreciate it. Razer I believe?
That would be the razer blackwidow ultimate (or stealth) 2013 version.
U/sdkiko is correct about the keyboard. The iMac is the 27" with the 3.4 QC i7, GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB, 768 flash, 16GB RAM. It's no tower, but it is a very capable computer and there is no tower to bother with.
Can I just ask why do you have a mouse and a track pad? Is there an advantage for over the other? I'm thinking of purchasing a mac soon.
I use the trackpad for web browsing and image editing and the mouse for when I'm doing a lot of dragging and dropping or the odd keyboard / mouse gaming. I use them both and switch constantly. Since they're both always on and paired, whatever I reach for moves the cursor.
Since you are already using two input devices: have you ever tried connecting another mouse? Is there a limit?
Personally, the Magic Trackpad kills my hand. Maybe it's just me, though. The Magic Mouse is great, though, but crap for games.
Trackpad is great for scrolling and navigation but a pain if you're doing things that require accurate clicks like photo/video editing and gaming. So having both gives you the best tools for each.
2.4 and 5ghz wifi right by your balls. new version of male birth control
My daughter was born 4 months ago, so just make sure you don't count on it as a 100% effective method.
Man you're such a hipster :P.
I missed that update. I got the iMac back in March. Still blazing fast though.
Sweet! I bought my first MBP medio 2013. First Apple computer I bought and I still love it so much.
I want to downvote because Apple but at the same time I want to bookmark for that beautiful audio setup. Since I can not pass judgement I will not vote either way. I abstain!
No it's not. Apple is a shitty company.
Yes it is. What's your point?
That's not what down voting is for.
Yet that is exactly what everyone uses it for.....odd huh?
Which is your opinion. I will downvote for whatever reason I so please.
You're digging yourself a deeper hole here
Implying silly Internet points mean something to me.
Cool setup but you need a PC with higher specs ;)
Nice setup, too machappy. Lots of money in screens and peripherals and such, but no computing power to speak of. To each his own, I guess.
To be fair, those are specs that match a $1000 laptop if you replace the ssd with an hdd
Now all you have to do is tape that laptop to the back of a 1440p monitor and gussy it up with some tinfoil.
My pc runs circles around that
Good for you. Why should he care if this setup works well for him?
Great, so does mine.
I dont like anything but the keyboard trays...those are good. link? edit- good cable management as well, how have you done that>?
Another ikea part. Due to the size of my keyboard and amount of peripherals I needed two. Took some careful planning to fasten them appropriately.
Thanks for the info, i had a suspicion after i posted that they might be ikea...I use 2 keyboards, a mouse and a trackballl....might pick one up
Do you like Apple products by any chance? I have the feeling you may do. :o
