16:10 Monitors - Computer Setup

Comments

My only gripe is the even number of monitors in eyefinity. Sick setup.
Mine as Well. In my defence, the left three is in eyefinity, and the far right is an extended auxillery display
Ahh ok, I was thinking that might be the case based on the utility programs I can make out on the far right monitor. Awesome set up man, looks great.
Thank you a whole lot!
Sounds nice to me. What kind of card(s) do you have?
I want to go 5x1 eyefinity, and in my opinion it would get far to wide with 5x1200p. Also, there was only so much you could do with the bezels on them, and I wanted something that was better for with bezels.
Say I'd want three of these monitors. How much money do I have to throw at Amazon? Also how exactly does the "debezel" work?
You'll probably have to put away $360-$400 for three 21" monitors... I have 3 19"s and they ran me around $100 each.
Someone got a job lol.
Nope, you are most certaintly right. When studying on a student Visa in Us, you are not allowed to work. When I got home, I did get a job, which indeed shows in the pictures! haha, from the first few months I got home, I did also start to work a whole lot more, which in turn lead to getting faster and faster components!
Where are u from OP? Sick setup.
The glorious kingdom og Denmarkia
Hey i had an exchange student from Copenhagen this past year. Strange kid, but a lot of fun. Over sharing at a [7]...
Did you pillage any lands in the name of Lord Odin on the way back?
Yup. When I middlelanded in Hamburg, i created huge riots and promot and utter destruction
Its an Ikea Praegel series countertop (meant for kitchens and stuff) with five Vika Kaj legs on it
I don't get how people game on rectangles isn't that hard? Awesome set up though!
When you look out a window, you don't look at the panes in the middle, you look at what's behind the glass. It takes somewhere between 6 hours and a week getting used to a setup like this, but nowadays I never seem to notice it.
Hmmm I might have to give this a try some time cause it looks really sick. Mmmm you got me with that last part!hahaha
It's like that image illusion where you stare at an image for a long time and everything around it dissapears. If you're not looking right at them, they become less visible to your eye.
Good analogy man, hadn't thought of it like that before
I'm hoping that you took the side panel off in your last pic simply for the detail of the photo. Otherwise, it's not a good idea leaving it that way.
Nope, I run it Like that often. I take great Care in keeping the room dustfree, and clean the rig twice a month
My point didn't have much to do with dust, so much as airflow. The fans will end up working harder to achieve the same temperature control since the vacuum effect is removed.
I have positive pressure in the case - no vacuum
Yes, and because there's no vacuum, you'll need roughly twice the amount of positive pressure and incoming cool air to achieve the same effect as one good intake fan and 2 exhaust with side panel on. Since you're in a house room environment, you also have to account for fluctuations in air pressure and humidity more sensitively than you would with a panel and exhaust.
Great comment for debate, I still think you are filled with shit, but nevertheless I'll run a set of benchmarks when I get home. There is a slight difference, yes, but needing "two times the air pressure" is bull
You can think i'm filled with whatever you want. I ran panel-off for about 11 years, and had to use 3 80-120mm filtered induction fans to maintain a 40c average temperature. Panel-on, i used a single 140mm filtered induction fan, and two exhaust fans and dropped 5c of temperature even after upgrading to a more demanding GPU.
I think what he's saying is that with the door on, the fans create more of a wind tunnel. When the panel is off most of the air is spewed around and not as concentrated.
Dust and airflow gets killed when you open the case :c
Oh I would love to kill dust ;)
Nice comeback but seriously....dust can kill your hardware...
Oh yeah, I know. I clean it on a regular basis
While I sense a slight mocking in the way I spell, thank you. It has been fixxed
Not mocking, just letting you know about a mistake loads of people make :)
But you did not spot the mistake in the title ;)
Are those the old KRK monitors? How do you like them? What amp are you using?
They are old homebuilt monitors, that that my father created, when he was in university. The amplifier is from a insurance case, where we got it for cheap, threw some new components in it and cleaned it up (fire case). I got the speakers at my birthday and a new amplifier for my 8th birthday. (the old amplifier was not really able to amplify the speakers). The oldest piece of technology in my possession also remains some of the most loved.
Loving that Lego wallpaper - any chance of a link?
On Mobile and in the other end of country right now. Will check later tonight on my laptop, and Will latest have it for you tomorrow, when I get home! :)
Nope, I dont have access to it on my Imgur account (reached maximum visible pictures for a free account), but if you really want it right now, I do believe I have linked to it somewhere in the original post. Try going through my posts to find it - the easiest way to do so is by sorting /top and finding it manually
Next, you should put those monitors on mounts. I just did mine and I was surprised at what a difference it makes for the appearance of my desk.
After my casemod is done, it will happen!
He figured out the conspiracy - get him!
Out of bicuriosity, what made you decide to go from 16:10 to 16:9 for portrait monitors?
Can I ask what monitors can actually rotate to portrait? Because I have two monitors but neither of them seem to have the capability of rotating on the stand. This is probably just a dumb question with a simple answer, but I don't know it.
I know the Dell Ultrasharps do, or you could also buy a mount with monitor arms. Something like this
Okay, so for that mount, like how exactly do you go about mounting it? (Sorry I could totally just google this but I prefer not to have to sort through forums and stuff.)
I'm not sure about your specific monitor, but if it has VESA wall mounting capabilities, it'll work.
Can I have some of your moneys?
Right now the "wealth" you see is due to strict budgeting... Not actual wealth
Dude sick set up. I wish I could get a good job and have this
Come Join me at McDonalds )
What are DIODERS ? I googled it and found very little.
Pictures of the wiring? looks like it's all hidden.. would be interested in seeing how it's all wired!
Will edit this post once I get home
Why did you go from 16:10 monitors to 16:9 monitors?
Sick setup wish I had something like this. Also what are your specs?
Switch 810! Having any trouble with the front side panel?
the front side panel? Nope, never had any issues with that ;)
Razer Mamba owner, represent! The best mouse I have ever owned.
Which other mice have you had?
Just out of curiosity, what kind of monitors are you using?
I spy a Leap Motion... what are you using it for?
Unlocking the computer... Its utter shit at high resolutions
Yeah nice concept but I find I can't really do much even on 1080p
Er det ikke helt vildt træls at der stadig er kanterne imellem skærmene?
I dont know, i don't understand people from Jutland ;) unless its Sønderborg or souther
What could possibly make you install Ubuntu on Macbook Air?
Not liking osx, perhaps?
Considering you're running Ubuntu 13.04 natively on the MBA, what kind of battery life are you seeing? And how much was it under OS X?
About 4 hours with full screenbrightness and 7-8 with moderate settings. I Think i pushed it 7 hours tops with osx
Whoa! I woulda never thought Linux had reached that level of power management. When I was using 12.04 and earlier on generic Windows laptops, I used to get 2-2.5 hours max in Linux and an additional hour in Windows.
What was it about OS X that you didn't like? Curious.
I dont Like the thousainds of flips and flops, swoops and hoops, that is has.
This is exactly why I never liked the osx. Growing up using Windows (after DOS but that doesn't count), osx was just different.
Distracting is one thing, but my main issue is that they take time alot of it. Some of Them are Almost a second long, and I dont want to wait a second all the time !
I see. It is just the fact that latest Ubuntu releases aren't of decent quality and quite bug-ridden. So I see it as uninstalling perfectly polished legitimate OS and installing something more experimental. But it is a matter of taste and needs, of course. It is okay, if you are comfortable.
You are right on the bug part, i do plan on changeing from 13.04 to 12.04. I do experience some bugs. Other than some software newding tweaking, I have not had a whole lot of problems though.
Don't worry you're not alone, I also hate OSX. Mint is my main OS on my PC and Ubuntu on my laptop.
Downvote for a mac in the picture
Upvote since that Mac that is running Ubuntu.
