Make sure that PS3 can breathe if you are going to be using it a lot.
Or put some fans in the back to create circulation
I live in England so there aren't many hot days to worry about, but I'm definitely going to make some vents for the ps3 at the back of the desk.
It gets plenty hot to turn a cooped up PS3 into a useless pile of plastic and metal.
Yeah. Weather's pretty strange this year, isn't it?
I miss proper seasons :-(
Maybe use pegboard as your shelf material.
That's a good idea I'll look into that!
Or, put fans in and tie them in to the ac ventilation tunnel
Yes seriously. I have my PS3 in a little shelf thing much like that and unless I take the back off and let it breathe a little it gets hot as fuck.
Take the back off? Like the case? I'm asking because imma position my ps3 similar to this and don't want it to overheat.
No no no, the back of the shelf off. Otherwise the air has no where to go and it gets hot and over heats. If you want to do something like it I would take the back of the shelf off or have some way for the heat to escape.
OHHh aha sorry about that, thought you meant the ps3. Will do, thanks.
Take it out of there or replace some of those walls containing it with fans (shit even adding slits will help). Poor ps3. Is there a PETA equivalent for electronics?
Came here to say this.
Adequate ventilation has been considered, I don't wanna cook my precious!
This is exactly why I was going to comment, I was thinking that PS3 had no breathing room, and it already runs hot even in the open.
LOL! My workmate and I have christened it 'The Wanktank'
The stains on the floor ಠ_ಠ
It's ok. He has a laminated floor. He can just wipe it off the floor.
Nobody uses a sock anymore?
No, we use boxes now.
Now you just need a sign that says "No Women Allow"
Curious, whats the hinged desktop for? I mean when do you need to flip it up
It's a small space and I wanted to have a decent sized desk and still be able to get in and out easy. With the desk down there is no gap between the arm of the chair and the desk.
Harry Potter has gone high tech!
Will it ever get really hot in the room after X amount of hours playing?
You bet, that ps3 sitting above his lap would be sweaty-balls city
Yeah and even the laptop on the wall, in cordinance with the monitor as well. Same Samsung monitor as I do and I can after maybe 3-5hours it heats up as well (not as much) but I'd presume it'd all add up in such small space
Looks great, really like the ps3 mount.
That is awesome, but I bet it gets hot in there fast.
Fake. No visible tissues or lotion.
Slow clap for the wank tank.
My initial reaction was "No way this will turn out well." I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice!
Best use during cold days! Less heating cost.
It looks like it can get hot in there pretty quickly.
You wanted a place to masturbate is what you're saying...
To the fap cave Robin!
Very nice, It's great to see people actually using the space they have.
That laptop is probably going to explode being sandwiched up against the wall and closed like that.
Just an FYI: you might want to check your fire/electrical code. In the States you likely violated both by running an extension cord through a wall. These wires aren't in-wall rated. You should install an actual electrical receptical.
It's also the most visually appealing option and isn't hard at all.
Love that ps3 headset I have the same one. The bass is amazing and really balanced.
I love the headset too, best I've tried!
Well the ps3 will over heat i give it 3 weeks
Awesome, but probably not a good idea to rage in there.
Ceiling fan in there would be hilarious.
You are going to need more air circulation going in and out of there.
Must be hot as balls in there.
Don't ever knock up a shelf...they'll always hit you up for support
I love things like this. Nice job.
Hope you don't plan on closing the door, because all I can think is HEAT
Your choice to live in a closet is probably blowing harry potters mind right now.
Maybe mount an intake fan into the door or side wall to bring in cool air from the house (especially behind that PS3 and Laptop, then another exhaust fan behind and above you to remove the heat from the room. You will probably remove 60-70% of the heat during long "gaming"(fap) sessions.
I like that idea, il try that if it gets hot.
Go to a home improvement store: Home Depot/Menards/Lowes/Ace/Etc and ask for their "L shaped brackets".
Corner braces apparently, handiest shit ever!
You are my hero. I feel like one day soon I will be forced to do this. Although I might have to use a half bathroom of something. I but in reality that's a bonus because I would never have to leave!
It's been said before, I know, but VENTILATION. You did a great job with the setup, it actually looks comfortable despite the lack of space, but I think you can afford to incorporate some ventilation into the setup without sacrificing important space. Heat is electronics' worst enemy, so watch out for that!
Next project....install ventilation and it will be perfect
That's ridiculously awesome, man. My closet has three sliding doors and I've wanted to do something similar to this, but I live in an apartment, and they don't take kindly to putting holes in my wall.
Holes can be easily fixed up. I just used off the shelf filler, let it dry, sand it smooth and paint. Job done!
This is amazing. When we were moving to California I was planning on living in the cupboard because it was just so perfect as a man cave.
It looks awesome except for the fact that it also looks like it would get extremely hot in there lol.
Genius idea man, wish I had an understairs cupboard.
You must be about 4' tall.
5'10 and feels really roomy actually. I'm not a stick insect either believe me!
Pretty cozy, but please give ventilation to that ps3 of yours.
You should add Surround Speakers - you might never get another room where small speakers would sound that good :)
Dude that is sweet! how do you get the desk to stay in the closed position? do you have a little hook or something
Once its closed its weight and the hinges keep it in place. Im sure there is a more elegant solution but thats what seemed logical when I was planning it.
Im sitting in one of those glorious chairs right now, mine seems like it's about a year older than yours in use but i'll never throw her out.
So so comfortable, I have had this since 2006!
That is one superduper itty bitty cool little midget/man cave!
I think I feel sorry for you more than anything, stuck away in that little mancupboard.
Don't pity me, this is my space and it ticks all the boxes. You gotta work with what you have in a small house my friend!
Its quite nice unlike other gaming setups, so much money wasted, This gaming setup is my kind of gaming setup, And i love the way you made good use of this small room!
That room looks like it's going to get hot as hell
Well he will only be there for 15 min spurts... if you know what i mean
Nice. I wouldn't recommend putting a desktop PC in there, though, unless you're ready to install registers for ventilation.
I know, I'm just saying that he shouldn't plan on it without some preparation.
What are those place mats supposed to mean? From my few chinese lessons i'm pretty sure that is the character for "and".
I know some Japanese and it means "Harmony". It also says "Harmony" on the mat.
Came for the nifty BS and stayed for the comments. I wasn't disappointing!
I like it....simple, effective, and you probably got the most that you could out of the space. Now, maybe a lock for the door so you can get some anxiety free fapping.
I feel like clusterfobic already
I could see myself playing video games and getting drunk in that scrub. I would have to soundproof if first tho.
Severe lack of Kleenex and hand lotion ;D
I can hear them now.... GET OUT OF THE CLAUSET JIMMY!
Try not to have sex with shelves! Only u can prevent shelf pregnancies!
I used to do this, until people kept telling me to come out of the closet.
Came here to bookmark joke about being in the closet.... Was disappointed.
Man it looks like a couple hours in there using your ps3 and that little space will be hot
This is close to a PS3 mutilation thread. If you want it to work next year, give it some room to breath... :/
Won' the ps3 vents be blocked ?
Thats so gnar. harry potter an shit.
Give your hdd a week propped like that
