I had mounted the cpu fan the other way so that it won't have to struggle against the airflow.

No, It's just for gaming, mostly I use my MacBook Pro. And I use a 3TB WD MyBook Live and 4 TB (8 TB Raid 1) MyBook Live Duo as NAS

The tilted fan is interesting. I have never seen that before. Works well?
