Computer Setup

It's a thing of beauty.
Very cool. Love the glowing green tubage.
Got a lot of people asking about the Specs and hardware used in the build:
As a Canadian, I feel ripped off
I have the same monitor stand. Still sturdy after 3 years of use.
Did the fittings (like the one between the RAM and CPU block come like that or did you have to apply any heat to bend them?
Out of curiosity how deep is the base on that monitor stand? I'm trying to find one that will work with my desk.
I Love SSD but isn't 256gb a bit low for a powerful beast like that? do you have any external drives or RAID0 storage or anything?
Man, I've wanted liquid cooling since my first rig but I've never fit it into my budget... I've seen temps on my xfx 7950 3gb of up to 80° after a valley bm test, and an average load of 60°... Luckily though I've a got a cold Intel processor. I think I might finally liquid cool it once I upgrade that...
What monitors are those? Beastly build, though!
Those are some tiny bezels! Very nice
I noticed the bezels look tiny as well. I'm in the market for some thin bezel monitors myself and I was wondering how happy you are with them. I am trying to decide between getting two of the monitor you have or one 27" (and maybe another down the line). I guess it's difficult to compare, but what are your thoughts?
Not so great out the box, had to go in manually to set it how i wanted. It comes with game mode, dynamic mode, etc. but I rather adjust to my settings how i liked it. Other than that, they are really good monitors. I haven't seen any ghost issues nor any dead pixels. I was worried most about that when they arrived. No backlight bleed and I really don't use the speakers so I have no idea how they are. Overall I am pleased so far :) 1ms too!
What are your colour settings on the monitors?
This is absolutely beautiful.
Best OP ever. shares link, leaves questions in his wake.
Been working! Trying to get back haha thanks!
What clock speed are you running at?
I love the sci-fi-esque green tubes. Awesome.
Which parts are watercooled in this loop? It looks really awesome!
CPU GPU RAM NORTH & SOUTH MOTHERBOARD.
Do ram and bridges really generate much heat? Or is this just fancy extra?
I am overclocked on the ram but to be honest probably not. Just for the look ya know :)
Not trying to be rude, but the south isn't under water...There is not a water block on it in your pictures. You have your northbridge and VRM under water on the motherboard.
You are right and i posted somewhere above that I do have a southbridge block but I did not use it with the others for the same reason you said it will not fit. For my case it was the video card in the way :( I would love to see your setup with the blocks! Cheers!
This is the exact same kit I have, and be careful with that southbridge block. Even if you had the clearance from your video card it wont fit on the mounts on that motherboard. Our kit is a generic for several different motherboards, and that particular block will not work with out motherboard.
Thanks for the info!
Thank you, and yours is very nice as well!! (I feel a tad silly for not saying it sooner) How do you like the 8350? I've been thinking of swapping to one from my current 1090T.
I was using the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition with the Asus Sabertooth and coming from that to UD3 paired with the 8350 I can see a difference.
I don't see a WB on the southbridge... I'd love to hear where you found the VRM and North Bridge heatsinks, though.
Ahh my apologizes you are correct. I did not include the southbridge on this build with the length of the video card there wasn't enough space to run the loop that way and fit properly. I do still have the southbridge block! I found them off the EKWB product site and funny story when i purchased them they sent an email back to me saying they didn't have any in stock or the stock did show limited. About a month and a half later EK lived up to their word and showed up on my doorstep. I don't think you can get the set of UD3 motherboard anymore i could be wrong though. :)
Yeah.. I'd been looking for blocks for my UD5 a while back and they were out of stock everywhere. If you ever switch away from the UD3, chances are I might still be interested in those blocks. I'd love if you could check in with me if you ever want to sell them.
Do they make entire mobo blocks that cover NB, VRM, and SB?
Only for a select few motherboards, and unfortunately not for this one.
Seems like CPU, GPU and Ram.
It looks like the north and south bridges as well.
That's the VRM and northbridge. The southbridge is the big square with gigabyte written on it just to the right of the PCI/PCIe slots.
Why should one watercool his northbridge and mobo stuff in general?
The VRM cooling obviously helps with very high voltage overclocks. The northbridge cooling is useful for increasing the bus speed as well as the multiplier for those last few MHz, or for overclocking locked multiplier CPUs more. It's not generally 'useful' from a pure practicality standpoint, but it looks nice, helps keep temperatures down (especially with little airflow around the CPU area) and it's a whole lot more useful than RAM watercooling.
Thanks for the fast answer!
I always wonder why some people cool their RAM without cooling north bridge and VRM. Those parts get pretty warm on stock clocks!
Well, some people do significantly overvolt their RAM to reach higher clocks or lower latencies, but that's rare.
Even with increased voltages I don't believe RAM would get hot enough to warrant water cooling. Maybe a good little heatsink.
You can EASILY handle 250w+ on this motherboard. The UD3 is an overclocking marvel. I've had the VRM/NB heatsink on my UD5 get insanely hot, and would very much like to water cool it.
Water cool all the things! Tell us more about your clocks and how quiet your PC is. Use lots of poetic language so I can experience sitting at your desk through the internet.
Off-topic, but admiring the portrait of Kramer.
This made me laugh, haha
You better put it up on the wall where it belongs.
IRL friend here, can confirm, SICK ASS SETUP!!
Haha get back to work my friend!
Damn, even the MOSFETs are watercooled?! That's sick...
Dude, God you need a bigger Desk and mount your monitors on a Vesa mount.
He means mount them within the confines of the desktop.
What do you mean? Why?
Monitors hanging off of the side of a desk don't look very nice and I would worry about knocking them or damaging the panels.
Yeah that struck me as odd, too. $2000+ dollar computer, 3 $200+ dollar monitors, 100 dollar mount, and a 20 dollar ikea desk. lol
I know people use the '$2000' thing a lot, but I'm not sure if that computer would actually surpass $2000...
Meh, liquid cooling takes a ass ton of time to set up, if his time is worth even a bit of money it would cost 2000 in parts and labor
Your runs are so clean, I love it.
Nice rig. A little excessive, but that is the point of having a gaming setup isn't it?
I know right my wife told me the same thing hahaha.
How much does it cost to install a liquid cooling? When I was building my tower I went overboard with blue LED fans. Now it sounds like my tower is preparing for takeoff.
Haha my first build had some blue LED fans in them. Got to start somewhere right? :) Even if you just wanted to liquid cool your CPU or GPU I would look there to start! Cheers!
After making my first build with all white LED fans that were loud AF I've grown to dislike any PC that sticks out, I want to not notice it lol. Yours is badass though. If I watercooled I would want to show it off.
All the fans that are attached to the radiators are NZXT 3mode fan speed ball bearing fans. I have them on low at the moment and can barely hear them. Switch to high settings when i am overclocking :)
Thats why I would watercool. Purely for silence. I've got an H80 with one fan on my FX-8150 and its silent as all hell, and very cool. I don't need anything more than that for my processor.
Can confirm wife said same thing about my 3 27" monitors lol
Dude looks like a washing machine. Amazing
Reminds me of my childhood - TMNT 2, the scene where they are in the lab and discover the green ooze for the first time.
WOW! Clean LOOK AND FEEL! Great JOB
What are you using as the triple monitor mount? Is it desk mounted or wall mounted?
Stand mount off Amazon.
Ahh, I can't do stand or desk mounts as my desk wobbles when I type. Went with a single monitor wall mount for the time being. Wish someone made a triple monitor wall mount for cheap.
Having the same issue, still looking for that one perfect computer desk haha. I'll probably end up building it as well.
Right? The more and more I look into it, building my own desk seems like the only solution.
What bracket are you using?
What case is that? Looks freaking kickass :)
Very modified NZXT switch 810!
Could someone explain how watercooling ram works, seems like it would be hard to set up.
There is a metal piece that makes direct contact with the memory modules on the faces of the sticks, and that metal piece continues to the top of the RAM stick, and the water cools the metal on top, in turn allowing it to absorb more heat directly from the modules, exhausting heat to the top that touches water. Completely impractical, but it looks cool! Heatsinks on RAM are largely impractical as well. They're fine being cooled on air.
BF3 awesome, and awesome rig.
You can post that and not give us specs! Awesome build.
Is that an evga hydro copper graphics card? If so, which one?
Oh god that water cooling is bad ass
The specs, man, the specs! Good to see a high-end AMD build.
I just told op to post specs (we work together). He will be posting soon.
I didn't even know you could watercool RAM. That's fantastic.
You can water cool just about anything. Is it practical? Not really, but it looks cool!
I'm digging the Kramer portrait
You have such a nice machine, and all those pretty monitors... and that shit desk...
Love seeing another Switch 810 in the wild.
I hope to have my NZXT Switch 810 looking as beautiful as yours sir.
I would have bookmarkd, but you just haaaaad to be a saints fan..... :(
All that money and you have the smallest cheapest desk you can buy? That should on your next BS upgrade :)
Your computer looks like it has guts. I like it
"For my cake day, I give you my gaming setup!". Awesome! I'll be by to pick it up on friday Steven!
Nice Gaming setup. Who Motherfucking Dat!?!
You should probably plug the power cables into your graphics card btw lol
You probably unplugged it for the photo but BitFenix and NZXT make some cables that are a bit more photogenic if you're looking for some
EDIT: Just noticed the mobo 24 pin is also unplugged
Upvoted for BC2 despite the cake day reference.
I stand corrected! He can keep the bookmark though =)
I agree! That setup is amazing!
Thank you for your kind words. Tried BF4 didn't really like it that much back to BF3!
You have a group of friends to play with? I got about 6-7 guys I play with, we try to jump on a slighty full server and have two squads with 1 guy as a commander, its great
The map is Operation Firestorm and it's the Russian spawn that you're seeing, I believe.
All that and running bf3!? Whaaa!
Better than betafield 4
Gameplay, yes, graphics, no. But yeah, he spent the money on this for the gameplay. Errrr.
