These Monitors - Computer Setup

Comments

I see half a cat.
OP strategically placed it there for the credit.
Thanks!. The cat's name is Red, and he has to be the center of attention whenever something interesting is happening (like building a new desk and work setup)
I have limited real-estate, so i put my consoles and gaming pc on it too (although the gaming PC goes to a different desk)
What kind of tower do you have there? What's the hardware setup?
The tower is a cooler master HAF x, custom built with an i7-2600k and 8gigs of ram on an Asus P8Z68-V motherboard. I have an Nvidia GTX580 video card along with a 1TB western Digital drive and a 120gb OCZ-Vertex3 SSD. I have the Corsair H80 water cooling processor heatsync, which is pretty awesome.
Nice specs. I have yet to venture over to ssd drives. Thinking of doing so strictly for OS and programs. Is it worth the money? What are the pros and cons?
Totally worth it, if only for the OS speed improvements and loading times.
Excellent. I was always curios about them but wanted the price/GB ratio to be just right before purchasing. I've been waiting for years.
Now that we've passed the $1/GB barrier, it's pretty easy to put at least a 120GB SSD in and rock your boot up times.
If anyone is interested, its a staples desk but they seem to be permanently out of stock on it.
What do you do for work? I think I see an HP elitebook and dock on the left?
I do IT work from home and have 1 of those Dell monitors. I really love it. I was walking through best buy and they had it open box for $100. Couldn't let it sit there lol.
I am with you on that. These monitors are awesome.
I want to know the same thing.
We keep asking for this at work but there's no traction for it :/. 4 out of 5 days I could literally do everything I do at work from home.
Nice screw driver shaped mouse!
You'd be surprised how much you can accomplish with the right screwdriver (sonic or not)

The gaming machine is actually a few years old now, but its powering through every game i throw at it. The work machine is a Dell Latitude E6410 hooked up to a docking station which routes to 2x 24" Dell ST2421L screens. I have a logitech K520 wireless keyboard and M310 wireless mouse hooked up to it now. I like it because i can just unclip the laptop from the dock and bring it into the office if i need to go in. Above is an LG47LM4600 TV, hooked up to my gaming PC, the wii and the PS3.
Nice man, I love your case. Love how clean the setup is with decent specs along with great monitor layouts.
Thanks, i wanted to do it for a long time. Its just such a hassle when you already have a working setup. I moved into a new place and it was the perfect opportunity to actually build something from the ground up that looked nice and was functional.
I actually plan on doing the same thing when money permits. Now that I see your setup, the idea seems great. You did a fine job.
We have the same Dell 24" monitors.
(cable management)... otherwise pretty nice. Good job!
I took this photo after i had built the setup, and i had forgotten my mouse at the time (it was still at the office)
I will never understand how people are ok with that shelving thing on the bottom. i need space for my legs to roam free!!!
Well i moved the trash can shortly afterwards. There is still a surprising amount of leg room under there!
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do that allows you to work from home? That's always been a dream of mine.
Working in any cloud-based technology field. That and having your boss in a different state helps too. For me it was kind of a long chain of events. I started out in technical support working in a call center, then i moved to specialized technical support for salesforce, then the group i was part of got moved under a different business column in the company, one that was based out of a different state.
I have the monitors, SO AMAZING
That is pretty dang sweet.
One cool feature of this desk i forgot to mention, is that the space next to the USB hub has a large compartment behind it, perfectly sized for a power strip and with all the openings in the back to connect to everything.
Half a vote for half a cat!!
16:9!? Please tell me you are not a programmer.
Not a true programmer. I do more business planning and ui configuration. Its all browser based with easy to read layouts.
That is hilarious! I cant bookmark this enough
What's the background on the left monitor?
