Just moved into a new home, decided to build my dream gaming setup/room!
You achieved it dude, that is magnificent.
Very nice, very clean and organized.
Ohhh, didn't think about that. Thanks for the tip I'll definitely make sure to do that!
Bwahaha, he's my friend =D
I get to visit him
Everyone wants to know about your desk, will you fill us in on the details? I'm setting up my office and that is actually the closest I've seen to what would fit my needs.
Those are the Vika Amon table tops from Ikea, they come in a variety of sizes and table legs so you can really customize it to your needs.
How sturdy are their legs? I am about to buy a similar new desk(s) myself, but I never really trusted Ikea furniture's strength. Don't they wobble around a bit?
Seriously, congrats. This is a truly beautiful setup.
What do you do for a living?
How much did your mouse cost?
I got it as a christmas present, but it retails currently for $129.99.
As someone who is slowly trying to achieve greatness like you I gotta give you mad bookmarks for that gallery. I got the ouroboros too. Have you had weird battery problems too? After taking mine off the cradle I notice that the "three bar power indicator" almost immediately goes from three to two bars. I go and check synapse and it says something like 84 percent. Within a few hours of playing its at 50 percent. It's rated as a 12 hour battery. Can you relate?
Weird, mine doesn't have this problem. You could try sending this to Razer. I'm sure their customer service will be able to send you a new battery.
I do feel that the battery drains a bit faster than it states. It definitely is not 12 hours. What lighting settings are u using in wireless mode? I keep mine at dim, and I put it back on the cradle whenever I'm not using it. Also I think I read in the manual that three bars just means 100% full and everything under that is 2 bars. Again I'm not too sure on this one
I second this, and also I'd like to know what mouse it is!
But it makes you better at computers
It looks a lot like the Mad Catz R.A.T. which I wasn't too impressed with. How does it compare? The pricing is basically the same.
Dude... What do you do for a living???
It's genuinely not that difficult to get a great set-up like OP's, it just depends on your priorities. If you're a childless person/couple in your early 30s and you got a career going soon after college, you could afford ~$10k for computer stuff if it's one of your major priorities.
No kids no car makes it easy!
That must be an awesome life.
My dream girl would want a duel gaming setup for the both of us :D
I don't want kids simply because I don't understand the appeal of having kids. I'll take the sex with no kids thanks.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.
I have the same keyboard - its pretty awesome :) I can tell you did your research!
That is some nice cable management, damn son.
4 of us! great mechanical for the price.
Talking about the Piano or the computer keyboard?
Wow dude, most awesome setup i've ever seen :D
The desk: What is it and where can I get one?
Ikea. The legs are VIKA ADILS (he's got 6 of them) and the square storage support is the VIKA ANNEFORS, he has three of those. The desktops themselves are also from Ikea, but I'm not entirely sure what their product name is (most likely also in the VIKA line), I'd like to know for sure since now I want to get that exact same desk setup.
The table tops are VIKA AMONS. They come in a variety of sizes and different types of legs so you can really create the desk that you want.
I'd like to know as well, I'm setting up my office and need a desk exactly like that.
I apologize if this has been said already, but your mouse looks like a transformer... but he's stuck halfway through transforming.
Hahaha that sounds like a very fitting description for that mouse, thanks!
Damn, awesome room. I've never seen grey flooring like that it looks great. Also, rich? famous? or just unmarried?
Thanks! I really love the flooring as well, probably my favourite part of the new house. Just well off I'd say, (again this stuff was bought over many years), not famous, and unmarried. =)
How are your framerates at that resolution? That sounds like a lot of pixels even for dual 670's.
I was able to get ~30-40fps BF3 1440p High quality. Only about 20-30 on Ultra though. on Guild Wars 2 i get around 50-60fps maxed out. Have yet to try out more games but so far 1440p seems playable
That's better than I thought, and the immersion must be fantastic. Looks really nice.
He's talking about the performance on one monitor
What did you spend on the monitors. Aren't 1440p monitors expensive?
Yea, got the korean ones on ebay, around 350US each.
Those are Korean ips monitors, Google them
Hahaha may i ask how you guessed that?
I read that and went back to look through the pictures for evidence of left-handedness.
You have the Razer ouroboros, its an ambidextrous gaming mouse. I just thought you got it for its left hand support
I like those hooks you used to hang your headphones. Link?
I have a lot of respect for your work, your gaming setup is so good looking, that it could be a wallpaper for mine.
You have reached a place in your life that many of us will only dream of. Congrats man. Enjoy it.
How is this so hard to achieve? Its just an extra few months of saving for a build.
Exactly, don't get so jaded about it. Save hard and you can get this.
Yeah. I'm only 17 and I'm in the process of saving for a 3930K + 4x6gb 7970 build. Its not that hard of you have consistent pay and put a bit away each week.
The person that downvoted is just jelly he/she cant do the same. have an bookmark
I'm 17 and barely afforded my 3570k 670 build. What kind of job do you have?
I work at a grocery store and make 14.50 an hour. I just save for a long time and take extra shifts.
Pretty good wage, nice to hear you work hard for it.
Dam what grocery store do you work in, i remember working in one many years ago and just making minimum wage.
I started at minimum wage ($10) two years ago and all the extra shifts I took during my last build got me a few raises.
When you say 4x6 GB 7970s, do you mean you'll be quad firing 4 6GB video cards? Holy fuck man, is there even enough room on an eatx board?
Seriously. I see kids under 17 with triple screen monitors o.o
I was more referring to the home in general. It's clearly a nice place. Also, it's not just the computer. Take a look at the last picture. I think it is fair to say that most people will never be able to experience the ability to own something like this. This person has reached a place in life where they have the time and money to create an entire room in their home dedicated to enjoying themselves and it is perfect for them. I don't have that. I don't know many people that have that. I certainly hope to be in a similar position myself someday.
Out of all the stuff.......I probably have the strangest question. Where did you get the things you hang your headphones on? I've been looking for something similar to use but can't seem to find anything that looks nice.
Sheesh, knew it would be from Ikea! No Ikeas anywhere close to me :(
Check out guitar wall mounts. they work, too
Yeah, I looked at the US site. :P No shipping available.
Where'd you get that fancy wallpaper?
I'm saving this post for when I'm rich I'll do the exact same thing.
It was fine until i noticed the skullcandy sticker on that guitar
You and I have the same mechanical keyboard. =)
Lovely lovely lovely! Except for the hard floor (i'm just not a fan) this is pretty much my dream gaming setup den. Great job :)
This is amazing and dreamy. What kind of desk is it?
Vika Amons table tops from Ikea.
Why cant I find a price or even a place to buy for your mouse? it looks like its not even out yet...how did you get it?
There is one on eBay...for $250 lol.
Wow, nice setup. I have the smaller version of that Vox, pretty versatile amps. What kind of music to you record/write/produce/etc?
Thanks! I used to play in a band and we would usually write & record pop rock & alternative.
I'm loving it so far!
What rack are you using on the wall to store your jack leads?
I got those at a local dollar store so unfortunately I can't provide any links or even a brand name, sorry.
Just gotta fix them dangling cables from the TV and you're done.
I wish I planned it all out before doing the renovations so I could embed the cables inside the wall, oh well, too late.
They are seriously one of the best purchases I have made. The bang-for-buck ratio is amazing, although the padding can get uncomfortable sometimes.
I used to use that same wallpaper! It's amazing on multi-monitor setups. Great station!!
Do you like the steel series headset do you find it heavy ?
I don't find them heavy at all, quite comfortable for long LAN-sessions. Sound quality is great as well for the price.
Awesome gaming setup man!
I too thought about getting the Ouroboros, but I'm not sure if it is worth the price, I really don't want to spend that much on a mouse. Should I save money, or can you recommend me something cheaper, but similar?
In all honesty, if you really wanted the Ouroboros you should wait until they fix some of their drivers/firmware. Right now there are some buggy issues with the mouse, so I can't say I recommend it yet. A lot of people seem to be happy with the Cyborg R.A.T series, check those out.
I'd be curious to see what kind of framerates you get on other games as well. 2 670's is pretty beast but that is a lot of pixels. What monitors are those?
I too am curious what kind of settings he runs games on. ive got two 7970s in crossfire with a triple 1080p eyefinity setup and things dont run as high as id like. kinda wish i just got one 1440p screen
I will try to update this thread when I try out other games. Those are FIRST FSM-270YG, the Korean IPS monitors, you can find a bunch of them on Ebay.
Well...I'm all jelly. Consider yourself lucky. I'm actually building a computer right now (that I will be posting soon), it has relatively the same specs as yours. Great minds think alike?
Do you have a chair?!
Yes I do actually =p It's rather large so I thought it would obstruct the view ;)
Acer s243hl. I have the same monitor. Bought it two years ago.
Damnit.... i wish i got the white bottoms for the ikea desk. damnit!
I am a fellow 920 OC'er (2008!). The 1366 socket is triple channel... so why do you have 16GB of ram - 2x 4GB, 1x 8GB?
I used to run 3x2, but there was a really good sale on black friday so i went for the 2x8. I researched the diff between dual / triple channel setups for the 920, and i got the impression it wasn't that big of a deal. I could be mistaken but meh, the deal was too good.
How the hell do you people make these magnificent setups! It's absolutely gorgeous.
Where did you get that wallpaper for the triple monitors?
Your wallpaper comes from coolcomputersetups !
So clean and sleek. Love it.
These were my first studio monitors so I have nothing to compare it with, but I really love using them and noticed my mixes got a lot better after using the KRKs.
What interface do you have with those KRK speakers? I love your room! :)
Very nice and clean setup. Do you mind if I ask what the dimensions of are?
I assume you mean the dimensions of the L-shaped table? If I remember correctly the long side is 300cm x 75cm, the short side is 195cm x 60cm.
Are you currently accepting applications for the position of "Best Friend".
You're making me want to buy an IKEA desk again. (I currently have a large U shaped desk with hutch) This looks nice. Have an bookmark.
That's awesome. You must be accomplished in what you do in life.
Wow, wow, and wow! Amazing setup! I love the Audio technicas (got a pair myself :) ), the case, the lights, and everything. Could you please link me to that desk? im not sure if someone has already asked that, i have to head out so i dont have time right now to read the comments. Also, is it possible to get a link for the headphone holder? Im just using some DIY thing and it doesn't look the best. Thanks!
What rack are you using to hang your instrument/mic cables on the wall? I like it.
I just found them at a local dollar store, so unfortunately I can't point you to a specific product sorry
The monitors are just on their own separate stands that it came with.
Someone else might have said this already but aren't your audio monitors a little close to the wall?
I believe the KRK RP6 ports are front firing so it shouldn't matter too much if they are close to the wall. Someone let me know if I am mistaken.
I have the same bookends and Sackboy for my PS3 games :)
high five they're awesome eh?!
OP...Can you tell me how much did all this cost ? The gaming PC+Table+Hardware ?
PC + monitors I would say around 4g, tables just a couple hundred, everything else ~10g. The Yamaha synthesizer alone was over 3g so a bulk of it is from that. That's a really rough estimate and again I bought them over many years so I might have forgotten some other expenses.
Being serious here, I can tell you take your music serious by how well you maintain your guitar cables.
Really nice! how did you get the Oroboros according to the site they aren't even out yet.
How do you like the Steelseries V2?
Damn nice setup AND house. This is truly a gaming setup.
Nice keyboard, picked up the osmium about a month ago and i'm loving it.
Nasty room. I am jealous. So clean and just ... perfect.
Best gaming setups post in a longgg time. awesome setup
Best battlesation I've seen on here in a looong time. grats' sir/madam!
Not directly related to the components, but what sort of flooring is that? Are your floors laminate?
While most people, including myself, are interested in the gaming setup, I'm interested in the camera you took it with as well. What is it?
What GPU's and are they watercooled? I was thinking of upgrading my monitor setup to be more like that.
Hah, I used to own that case. How's your cable management?
This is incredibly similar to what I'm currently in the process of building! Congrats, looks great!
Ive been spending months trying to find the name of those speakers on page 7 what is the name of them and where could i go about purchasing them?
You forgot the picture of your closet and drawers, just packed with money.
My Steelseries sticker is peeling as well. =[
You have too much money. Send me some.
Must've been difficult to find progressive scan monitors.
Someone please make a triple 1600p monitor setup now please xD
How much did all of that music equipment cost?
It looks great. And clean. Cleanliness is certainly a factor in creating a gaming setup. Well done.
I've been thinking of replacing my Logitech G17 keyboard with a mechanical but very few seem to have the bells & whistles (not to mention the LCD screen) I want. I've looked at the Gigabyte Aivia Osmium and have been seriously thinking about it. How has it been for you? Any weird quirks (USB chaining/power) or impressions you can give?
Seeing that no one have asked yet (at least i think so), what lens and camera did you use? that lens must either be a UWA or a wide angle on an FF. beaauutiful photos, i must say. and amazing gaming setup, as what others have been saying. hats off to you :)
You Sir know your stuff!!!
Holy shit, your room is the definition of AMAZING!
ATH M50 Studios. Instant respect, and bookmark.
Can you give us some details on the music comp such as DAW and the hardware etc. Also do you know of any sound cards that come with the ability to put it in one of the front bays with midi and 1/4inch line in in it? thanks.
