Gaming Setup - Computer Setup

Back problems due to carrying all these bags of money! Ayeeee!!!
Thanks IKEA, making expensive looking things cheap.
I don't think he meant your furniture...
Also interested in the monitors. Always been a fan of monitors with minimal bezel.
Ah, will have to check it out. Currently have a few ViewSonic VX2370SMH and love them, but no VESA mount capabilities unfortunately.
He meant the two nVidia cards on the bottom right...
Those are likely just the shroud that covered the two watercooled cards, he had to take them off anyways, so he might as well show them off.
...I need to get myself some back problems.
I need to get myself some York peppermint patties
It's kinda sad that that was the first thing I saw too.
I'm starting a pool on how long until he buys a tall stool.
Was already in my plan to buy one
I have a standing desk at work. A stool is essential for a lot of reasons, I usually end up leaning on it when talking to people at the office for instance. You'd never sit in it for an extended period though.
I do the complete opposite :P
You usually end up leaning on purple when talking to stools at the office?
That's nothing, he can lean on colours
I always wondered that about standing desks. i can understand the health benefits of them but i feel like it would get extremely uncomfortable for extended periods of time. and because of that it seems like it could cause problems in your feet instead.
In my ergo class the gist of it was that neither standing all day nor sitting all day is best for workers, but that a 50/50 mix should be targeted. A standing desk and a good high chair can achieve that for desk jobs. I have a degree in industrial engineering that covered ergonomics in its scope.
I game, sometimes for an entire day on the weekend, using a standing desk. My feet hurt afterwards, but not as much as my back does when I sit. I need an anti fatigue mat.
They are so worth the investment of a good one. I have also found that my sketcher work shoes work better for standing than my nike running shoes.
Maybe you could take breaks too.
It takes time, first few days you find yourself tired. But it goes away as your body gets used to it. I find myself getting restless sitting in a chair for too long now.
I thought that's what would happen for me, but I just got tired of standing up all the damn time.
I'll admit there are hard days, especially if I am feeling under the weather. Those days I wish I could retract my desk back to sitting.
Several months. I had a stool that wasn't the best, but sometimes I just wanted to sit in a comfy chair and relax while I used the computer, and that's just not possible for me if I'm forced to stand up all the time.
In College I worked at a television studio and did camera for them. It was the worst, we had to be professional and weren't allowed chairs. We would stand behind our camera for close to 4 hours before a break was granted.
I'd sooner take a task-height ergo chair. Something like the Aeron task chair.
There is no subtle way of asking so Im just gonna ask. Is that funnel/bottle that is approximately dick level for fapping into?
What's that on the wall on the top left of the 1st photo? wall mounted pc?
I've seen that style of wall mountable server before? I the case a product you can buy?
Nope, one I designed and built
Ahh, I looked through your post history and I was remembering your previous posts! Good work!
Looks like a wii fit board!
I've seen that before, really nice.
What do you use it for if you don't mind me asking?
Explain to me why so many people have servers please
I have one for storing / managing my media and as a backup for my computer. It has 4 drives running in RAID5 for a bit of speed and a bit of redundancy (1 drive can fail). I also run virtual machines on top which provide a plex media server (for streaming media to a Roku and for while I am out of the house) and a minecraft server for some local LAN play. There is a LOT more than can be done with a server and it all depends on needs. Low power for allways-on file serving, high computational for demanding or multi-tasking work (rendering of HD video & encoding for twitch for example). Depends on your need.
Thank you for giving me a legitimate answer and not telling me to "Google it"
I don't have a server yet, but am planning on making one soon. Instead I am running various VM's on my desktop and servers from Digital Ocean and AWS.
I saw that wall mounted server featured on the WAN Show. Good job!!!
Man, I was about to post my gaming setup for review but don't want it close to this post when people sort by new. This is too nice.
Do you have 2 780s/titans just sitting there on the bottom shelf in the first pic? cries
Just the stock coolers from the 780s, they have water blocks on them now.
I've been curious about standing desks for a while now, since I see more and more people using them. How do they help your back?
I used to sit in front of my system for hours at a time for days. Eventuality, I started noticing that I was starting to get shooting lower back pain from all the sitting. I have been reading about them for awhile and the health benefits of it, so I'm giving one a shot.
I would have issues with my feet from standing all the time, I can't wait to get home and sit after standing at work all day.
If you already stand at work all day it's probably not an issue. But if you work a desk job and sit in front of a computer all day and then come home to do the same, problems definitely develop.
Anti-fatigue mats also help to mitigate some of the fatigue that occurs when you stand at a desk all day.
Yeah, I have heard good things about those mats. Never used them myself though
Bought one when I was testing out a temporary standing desk setup and it made loads of difference. With or without shoes.
Have you ever tried an inversion table? They're relatively cheap and they do wonders for back pain... especially the kind earned from sitting at a computer for to long.
I really want to try one they seem so amazing but I'm too fat and I have this fear of breaking my neck.
It's obviously more complicated, but having a standing-area and a sitting-area would seem ideal to me.
Hmmm, have you tried checking webMD about that...annnnnnnnnnnnd you have terminal stage 4 liver cancer....
As a guy with back problems, go see a doc and get yourself some physical therapy. They'll teach you more on how to help yourself.
That's why I bought an Aeron. AFAIC standing for 12 hours is as bad as sitting in a bad chair.
I got a motorized one and I use it off and on.
Wait, a motorized desk? .....Like you can move it up and down? That sounds awesome! Where'd you get yours?
A lot of drafting tables/desks do this. They are very expensive.
True, but I successfully built one for about $300. I keep saying someday I'll post it on here...
I hope you do, I'd really like to see that. I was considering building one for myself as well but haven't been able to find the cash.
Can you link the desk?
Oh wow, the price isn't as bad as I had expected.
This is actually pretty good compared to what I've seen.
Ikea sell a motorised Galant desk across Europe and that costs €550-599 (800+ USD) so that price really isn't even that bad.
I bought one from IKEA but I can't stand for too long so I end up sitting down most of time. I don't think it's for everyone.
I see your Corsair 540. I've been thinking about buying one. How do you like yours?
I like it a lot actually, cable management is a breeze and its got plenty of air flow. It comes highly recommended.
What's in the Corsairs and on the wall?
Wall is a server, but OP, we NEED to see inside that 540!
Give me sometime, I will get you some photos
I will be waiting eagerly :)
And that is why I never bothered with plexiglass windows. It would force me to look at it and vacuum it out every other week.
Please don't tell me you vacuum out your rigs
Wow nice, why have two powerful gaming pcs?
If you don't mind me asking, what cables are on your PSU?
What is your monitor stand made out of? Looks awesome. What are the exact parts?
You should get a 'drafties' high stool.
I have a standing desk too, and I went with a Varier Move 2 stool. It's for leaning against rather than sitting, and it's great for a standing desk.
Oh snap, I just ordered two of those last night! Do you like them?
I have one as well, it is a very good monitor. It just requires some tweaking to make the colors remotely normal.
Ooh I've been wanting to get a standing desk for many moons! What desk is that? Or desk things idk how IKEA works honestly.
It's actually a bunch of different pieces of IKEA pieces stacked to make the final desk.
Any chance you can post a parts list on the desk? Or even a short build breakdown?
Interested in the parts list too. Been looking at the $22 Ikea standing desk, but this looks a lot nicer.
This is how to properly pull off a standing desk.
Very nice! Are you a programmer?
Considering all of the gaming equipment (plus the WoW/Diablo figures), he likes to play video games.
You just described me except no figures, no server and no 6 monitors :(
I'm guessing a CAD designer
Dude, this is beautiful. I love it.
Upvoted on the g600 alone.
What are those video cards on the bottom shelf? Or are those just the stock enclosures for the ones in your rig?
Yep, just the stock coolers from my 780s.
Hahaha dual 780s and you deny your richness...
Probably spent $300 on them...
Where the hell do you get dual 780s for $300? Did someone steal them off a truck for you or something?
Sold off a Quadro K5000 for around $1200 bucks, the extra $300 covered the cost of the cards and the coverage plans on them.
I hope you mean for one... and he would have to find a really good deal to get a 780 for $300 considering that retail is above $500.
No, for both of them.
HAHAHAHA. No sir, you can not get two 780s for $300 anywhere on this earth. I truly wish you could.
Considering how much the price has dropped on the 780's, it's not unrealistic for anyone to have two of them. You just need to have the patience to save over the course of a few months (like I did).
How can this be good for your back with the York peppermint patties down there in no mans land...?
I too enjoy York Peppermint Patties.
York Peppermint Patties Chocolate covered toothpaste.
Those ASUS monitors, which model?
How's the monitor? I am considering getting either VN247H-P or Dell U2312HM for my new build. The Dell is an IPS, and the ASUS is not, so I am not completely sure which I should pick... Where I live, they cost about the same btw!
The ASUS does not have the best color reproduction as and IPS will but it is still a very sexy monitor and is very well built for gaming.
How do you like the standing gaming setup? I imagine that it would be incredibly uncomfortable when using the computer for extended periods of time. Maybe it's more practical. Just wondering what the main advantages are to standing rather than sitting.
Temps are in the mid-high 40s for the most part.
Where do you get those wall-mounted cases?
You don't, he custom designed and built it. Check his post history, it was a beautiful build!
Gotta keep a box of York peppermint patties at hand.
I find it more comfortable to stand when i game, even when i play console in my living room , I dont have any back problems but it just feels alot better.
What is the case other than the 540?
Link to wallpaper by any chance?
Which one? Since there are two different ones.
The one you have split between monitors 3/4 going left to right. Please and thanks
I'd also love a link to the wallpapers! (mainly the one with the shape thingy)
Nice! What kind of fan controller do you have?
Nice! What is that on the floor next to the door? A mini-fridge? Or an A/C unit of some kind? If it is an A/C can you name the brand because I need one for my computer room. Thx!
De-humidifier actually...it's currently held together by duck tape
I think you'll find it's called duct tape. :)
Duck tape is a brand of Duct tape :P
You have got to be shitting me :p
How many LED's have burned out on your K70 so far? I am up to 23
You should contact Corsair customer support. They're really good about fixing stuff like that.
Is that a nitro R/C car in picture #2?
Everything you touch is beautiful.
How do you like the RAT mouse? Which version / model is it?
Do you have a link to this setup in IKEA?
Corsair K70 silver AND a R.A.T. 7 cyborg mouse? Mah nigga. I've got the exact same ones! Awesome set up!
Is that a shelf your monitors is standing on? with feets?
What keyboard? I want one.
Awesome set up. How do you like your r.a.t 7 mouse? I bought a rat 9 and really wanted to like it. But the laser has broken 3 times in less then 2 years. $170 for the mouse and a total of $60 in shipping costs to get it replaced 3 times. That's alot if money for a mouse :(
Bookmark for a fellow rc hobbyist
Are the lights built into the desk?
Nice station! now may i ask how many hands do you have? especially right ones? :p
I use a standing desk. A cushioned mat for standing work stations makes it so much more comfortable to use.
Damn dude, wouldn't it be a pain in the ass when moving back to a chair?
What's that wall mount jawn with the drives in it?
I have the same KB. Excellent choice. Wasting all that money on having someone else build your PC... Not so much...
Can I ask what you do for a Living?
Really love this idea, can you list the idea items that you used??
There are desk that can convert from a siting view to a standing veiw. Depending on if this is done mechanically electronic or not sets your price. I bought one at anthro cart for around 1k.
Neat Setup, need mat though. Are you showcasing an old flagship video-card on top-right? If so, how is it anchored?
It would appear we have similar taste. My current rig is housed in an air 540, I have a corsair k90 and g600, as well as one of those asus monitors.
How did you make a standing desk from IKEA? Is it comfortable?
You don't really stand though....do you?
I understand the thing on the wall is a server, but I must say...I LOVE wall mounted computers the innards of things can be so neat and artistic (talking watches, clocks, computers, and old walls here people not critters and other squishy things)
What the hell kinda mouse is that?
Thats sick, i am jealous. But i have back problems too, have you looked into using a Workout ball. I have been using one for almost a week now and i can already notice a difference. It helped me for me.
Ahh I see you like yorks!
Which type of corsair case is the large cubical one on the left?
Now you have knee problems
I love this! It's glorious.
This is so beautiful. I think I'm going to cry.
I see you got one of those cheap $5 LED light bulbs with the control. :D I love those.
Send me that cooler master v8 your not using!
Pretty weird, for me having to stand for long periods is pretty much the worst thing I could do for my back
What are those small figures on your desk?
Is that a funnel? You pee in that funnel don't you? I would.
Tried searching through all the comments... But didn't see what K70 you have. Which Cherry MX switches? I'm looking at the K70. You like it?
