Why do people mount their TV's so high? Is this a thing now?
When you recline it's a good viewing angle.
I've yet to see a tv angled enough to make this theory plausible. For a 135 degree recline you'd expect a 45 degree decline on the tv right? OP's isn't angled at all. Maybe he just loves distortion?
I've not noticed any distortion. Perhaps because it a plasma, not an LCD.
I've seen people who have their aspect ratios set wrong and 'don't notice it'.
Ah, yeah...I definitely don't have the aspect ratio set incorrectly :)
It's been a thing since the beginning of flat screens. For some reason it caught on that because you could mount your display higher on the wall, that you should.
The reason for me is that I wanted to make sure I could see the TV over top of my sectional couch when sitting in my office chair.
That is one sexy sofa.
Hey what chairs are those? Also, what laptop do you currently use. Sweet setup all in all.
^ this. Please dish.
If you're talking about the desk chair its a Herman Miller. If you're talking about the couch, I have no clue.
Laptop is just a Dell Latitude E5540 with an i5 CPU, 16gb of RAM, and 256gb SSD. I have a NAS on my network that I use for backups and storage for Plex as well.
That wall begs for a projection screen.
I considered that but a good projector costs significantly more than a nice plasma. I'd already invested so much in the furniture that I couldn't justify the cost.
Or a 105" UHD TV. ;-)
I took these pictures last month around Christmas time which should explain the decorations.
How do you like the Samsung TV?
I just bought a samsung plasma tv and I have to say its a fucking great tv. Especially for the 700 I bough it for. 51 inches too. I
It is actually a Panasonic TC-P65ST60. It is an amazing TV but unfortunately Panasonic discontinued their plasma line and I can't even find the exact model on Amazon any longer. The 55" version of the same TV is here.
Lower your display so that the middle is at eye level for those in the theater seating. Looking up while trying to watch a movie or play a game is pretty uncomfortable and the display is meant to be viewed as close to straight-on as possible.
Yeah, I've been considering this. However, it means I may not be able to see the bottom of the TV from my office chair.
The only drawback I see is you have to sit in the corner to get snuggle times with the ladies.
Very valid point! It's typically just my wife and I (and the dogs) and we fit comfortably in the corner. However, you're 100% correct, I wish the corner could be in the middle somehow :)
Looks good, but the tv should be centered at eye level no? also probably too close to the couch or the tv is too big for the distance.
We're able to see the full screen from the sectional but valid point and something I was initially concerned about before installing the TV.
Nice folded flag Patriot. Deployed?
Nice catch! This was actually given to me by a good friend who was deployed in Afghanistan. She sent it to me a few years back and it actually has a certificate showing that it flew on base for a day.
What desk is that?! That's exactly what I've been looking for!
Did the dog come with lasers or did you upgrade at one point?
It's actually a robot wrapped in dog skin :)
Pretty great. Only thing I would have done differently is run the wires behind the wall. That would bug the shit out of me
It's in the plans just haven't gotten there yet. I'm going to have to cut open brand new walls and then drill through at least 1 beam to run them to the left.
Link to leather chairs please!
Very nice setup. Currently saving up for something similar. Can you do a desk, chair, and couch list?
I picked up a Bose 5.1 system at Costco but Bose isn't exactly top of the line. Planning to upgrade at some point!
Your desk is my DREAM DESK omg its gorgeous
Think I have the same desk. I got it from Costco. Maybe OP can confirm
Bingo, I got it at Costco a couple years ago!
Let's go EERS! nice set up!
Thanks...now we just need to field a competitive team for me to watch in there :)
I can't determine whether or not I'm a fan of mounted tv's. Nice cave though homie.
Someday I shall have money and this will be mine. Until then, congrats! It looks delicious mmmmmmm.
Thank you. To be fair, I'm 30 which is likely older than most people on this coolcomputersetups. Putting this all together was a dream of mine for many years as well...after years of hard work I was finally able to realize the dream!
Yes, I should have focused more on my desk setup. My apologies.
Below are a list of everything as there have been numerous request for this:
Make the walls grey or a dark Grey. To much white.
Agreed. The home is a new construction and currently under warranty. As the foundation settles there will be cracks and nail pops that will be fixed by the builder after 1 year. However, they will only paint it with the original paint.
