These Monitors - Computer Setup

Comments

Been using the modmic for 6 months now. Very happy with it.
How is the microphone quality? I'm still using a gaming headset right now but I'm considering to get a normal headphone with the modmic, it's like everyone on the internet can't recommend it enough.
Holy crap, I had no idea this existed. What a great idea!
I can also vouch for ModMic, I've had one for a while now and it works well even for me having a somewhat quiet voice
I've been waiting for 4.0 to come out for a while so that I can finally use my Sennheiser hd 600 and schiit Vali/Modi combo for gaming.
+1 for the modmic, I've had mine for a year (v2.0) and it's great! Waiting for the v4 now.
If you don't mind answering, what did this setup cost you?
Monitors were 3400DKK Computer and peripherals were 14500DKK
Much expensive, very doge, so sad
Don't be a sad shibe, it's money well spent!
In Europe we don't actually separate thousands with dots. Spaces are more common, particularly when handwritten.
Oh, I was going off of OP's method of doing it.
I guess it depends on country, because we do in the Netherlands.
I see it all the time...
Any real bitcoiner would know how to convert that. You're just trolling.
It probably would have cost about the same in the £/$ conversion taking into account the 20% tax an the markup we get over here
There is a 25% tax markup in denmark.
Wow our USD/Monopoly money sucks.
You're joking, right? The currency which is backed by the largest GDP in the world is anything but monopoly money, even if the number is a bit higher than the euro or pound equivalent.
Do you have an amp for your dt990s? if not you aren't getting the best sound from them
Doesnt the board have a 600 ohm amp built in?
Apparently so, that being said, I'm glad I have a separate DAC amp for several reasons.
I definitely understand, i might get a Fiio E10 myself for my laptop, or one of the other Fiio DAC/AMP combos for my iPhone or something. I only discovered pro headphones, but i'm in love with the audio quality
I'm guessing you'll end up using the Fiio for the desktop as well. ;)
Wait until you get a nice dac/amp and you'll be even more in love with them.
Check out the O2/ODAC combo from JDS labs. Works great for me.
I had no idea such a thing existed. That board is so expensive.
I was really hesitant to buy it, but i was in love with the frontplate and backplate. The audio solution was the tipping point because i didn't want to buy an external DAC/AMP ^
Yeah great build, looks fantastic
Set your default playback device bit depth to 24bit. You will lose a lot of bit depth if you have it set to 16bit. I'm assuming you use the volume control of the OS.
Oh trust me it's already on 24 bit. I'm using the driver from ASUS' website for this audio codec.
It has a CHIPSET FAN (I think)
Nah, that's the Sabertooth Z87
Wonderful setup there, was also wondering if you got a dac/amp but turns out that motherboard got you covered. Damn, those Asus ROG boards really are the best of the best. Anyways, very sweet setup OP, I think a bit of cable management is necessary later on to keep it looking clean.
I'll definitely strip it sometime to tie the cables down really good. I was just excited to get to play with it. :)
Obviously, with those specs I don't imagine anyone would be stressing with cable management rather than playing with the PC.
I always wondered, are these more expensive boards really better for a PC or is it just a luxury?
I can't say for sure since I don't own one of the higher end motherboards, but I suspect the features those motherboards offer is what usually entices people to buy them. For example the audio, never realized that the ROG boards had amazing onboard audio (contrary to common belief). I think overclocking is also an important factor too though.
What are your thoughts about the mouse ?
Xornet is the same shape as the Spawn. The ADNS-3050 sensor in the Xornet is said to feel more responsive and I believe it doesn't have angle-snapping or acceleration. The Spawn uses the ADNS-3090 sensor which doesn't have angle snapping or acceleration. CM Storm are also currently making a newer Spawn which will use the ADNS-3310 sensor which doesn't have acceleration or angle-snapping but many think that it isn't as responsive and has to much smoothing to achieve the higher DPI.
Hands down best mouse i've ever had. I think it hits all the right spots in terms of performance, price and shape. I'm a clawgripper, and i've had mice like the Razer Naga 2014, Logitech Performance MX and those old plain Microsoft mice, and this Xornet is just perfect for my handshape AND the way i hold the mouse.
I don't know, I have it too and I find it too sensitive when browsing. Even if I change the dpi.
I have it on 6/11 in windows settings and lowest DPI settings on the mouse itself. Feels really good to me :)
Wow. In my eyes one of the most beautiful setups in the last months. The Headphones do their part. Awesome, a bit jealous though...
That's a nice solid build
Are you using a headphone amp?
Ah, that's right. A very decent solution.
Very clean and nice set-up. I have the same case and I wish it had a window on the side to show off the internals. What will you be doing/playing with her?
I'm studying as a Data Technician so i'll be programming, running virtual machines, playing around with some 3d modelling, but mostly gaming.
So when you are mostly gaming, why pick these monitors? 8ms reaction time, 60Hz, just for the thin border?
IPS, great colour depth. The response time is so miniscule, people overreact to it. Do you feel a difference between 20ms ping and 10 ms ping in a videogame?
Great comment. I definitely feel that people overestimate the importance of responsive peripherals. Hardly matters, I can't react in 1ms anyway :P
People confuse input lag with response time and other manufacturer specs
Did you also consider the U2312HM? Because it is also IPS, with 82% gamut, and routinely sells for half the price of the 2414. You could drive three of them from your GTX780 and improve the ergonomics of your gaming setup quite a bit while saving money.
I did, but i was turned off by the fact that they look so... old. I don't know why, but when i saw these monitors, i knew i had to have them because everything about them was awesome. IPS:Check, Adjustable stand: Check. Reputable manufacturer: Check, Good reviews: Check, Design: Stunning
2nd that, these look so much cleaner than my u2312hm. Considered picking up a 2nd one but for only 100 bucks more I can a 27" korean panel.
Plus the 23" is 1920x1080 whereas the 24" is 1920x1200. For some, the 24'" is more desirable because of the 16:10 aspect ratio. Personally, 16:9 is only good for watching movies.
I personally have the U2410 and the color reproduction is amazing. The number of inputs plus the preset for OS X and Adobe RGB are bigger factors than response time and I mostly game and video edit.
What about playing Music games? You most certainly want the lowest response time right?
What keyboard is that in the last shot?
That's a CM Storm Quickfire XT with Nordic Layout and Cherry MX Blue switches. Thanks!
Nah i didn't like the weird form factor, and i loved the simple look of the XT.
Oh i think you misunderstood me, i never had the TK to begin with. I considered purchasing it, but i preferred the XT layout and the simplistic look of it more.
Ohhh. I did misunderstand. I saw the box in the pic, and my mind made XT into TK. Sorry about that.
With blues, the TK would have blue backlighting. It would conflict with the color scheme.
But you're definitely right with the color scheme thing. I don't like that CM Storm matches the backlighting to the switch colour. I'd prefer if all their keyboards had red backlighting.
Ducky? Maybe idk though
We're all out of stock sadly :/
Same, only my color scheme is blue and I prefer red switches. I also went with the XT just so I wouldn't have to throw off my color scheme by getting the switches I wanted.
How loud are the default H100i fans?
Like humming noise, but i can imagine it's because of my Silent Case, so i wouldn't be the one to tell you. They're pretty quiet i'd say though :)
Do you know if the corsair air series SP fans can be controlled with the H100i software? I've heard it isn't compatible =/
I honestly don't know :/
I actually came here to ask the same question my h100i fans are very loud for my taste and I'm looking to replace with noctua fans. Can you give some of your temps using it and are you overclocking? Idle, In Game etc. Thanks and otherwise great build?
My 4770K is at 4.4 Ghz, when under crazy load(Prime95, Intel Burn Test etc) then it gets in the high 70's Celsius. But gaming load is like low 70's High 60's :)
The Zalman works wonders for me. Be sure to activate mic boost in your sound-card options.
When i activate Mic boost to +10DB it adds an annoying background noise, and it's still crazy quiet. I orderede a mic and an extension cable from DX.Com and i'm gonna make my own version of the modmic with it :)
I just bought a 330R myself! Just wondering if you know if the restart button has an LED like the power button and HDD indicator?
Not as far as i can tell, mine doesn't light up, but that could be me not setting the cabling correctly :)
Mine doesn't either, I don't think it's supposed to - I can't see another umbilical for it.
I've been looking at the 330r lately, I like the cleaner sidepanel and the covered top vs. the Define r4, wondering how you like it?
I definitely considered the Define R4 aswell, but i just though it was too plain, boxy and fat looking. I also wanted a plain black interior, and the Define R4 had white contrasts. I was also not sure if the H100i would fit in the Define R4 with my WiFi module on the motherboard, so i decided to go with the 330R, and i definitely don't regret it.
I've heard that plenty of times. :/ I did find this however, which will probably help a bunch.
Yeah, i'll probably end up getting an audio extension cable too, i can't stand to look at it as the only cable that's not rotued correctly lol
Did you have any issues getting corsair link to work with Windows 8.1? I still can't get it to install without crashing my computer.
I had issues with it not finding my H100i, but i googled the issue and found a registry edit that fixed it.
I am so jealous. You did a really good job picking everything out. Nice computer.
Was gonna recommend the mod mic but they got you covered
I don't know what half that stuff is but it looks sexy. Congrats bro
Can I ask if you had any trouble matching the colours on the Dell monitors? I have 2 2412M's and the colours are completely different, drives me a bit nuts. Saving up for a calibrator..
Luckily these monitors were factory calibrated, and so i just had to turn the settings. I'm sure you could find a software tool to calibrate the monitor with. :)
NVIDIA drivers come with them, FYI.
Heads up, in the 10th shot, it says your DRAM Target speed is set to 1333MHz, is this for a purpose or was this accidental?
Oh by then i hadn't touched my settings. My Ram are now running in XMP profile settings, so 1600Mhz Cl9 :)
Why not just buy the 330R windowed.....
There's no such thing. The 300R's window fits the 330R, but it has ugly fan mounts.
You just inspired me to get that motherboard when I build a PC this year. Thanks, friend.
What camera didja use to take these awesome photos? Also as I said your setup is awesome!
My little sisters Canon EOS 600D. Some of the pictures are a little out of focus, but i'm happy with them overall. :)
I doing this, i think it's time for a new pc :D
What made you decide to go with the DT 990's instead of the DT 770's? I chose the 770's because they are closed back and are excellent for keeping sound within the headphones.
Because i kept reading about the wide soundstage that the DT990 Pro's had instead of the DT 770. I also wouldn't be using this other places than in my dorm and my room, so i thought it wouldn't be a problem if it leaked a bit of sound.
Have you managed to test out the audio on that motherboard? I recently build a PC with the same one, but I can't get any decent bass out of it. Using EQs just makes it sound awful/distorted.
Maybe it's your headphones, but there's definitely bass in mine :)
Nope :( Tried with two pairs of headphones and a 5.1 speaker setup, still sounded terrible :(
I shamelessly just fapped to an album of computer parts. Thank you.
So stupid question but how is the corsair logo lit up? Is that your could cooler?
The Corsair H100i has a LED built into the pump that i can control via their Corsair Link Software :)
Nice, I have the same case, but mine isn't filled with quite as much awesome.
I was looking at the Maximus VI Formula for a while because it was so good looking, but am probably going to settle on the Hero instead because its a bit cheaper.
Haha I was in amazement when I saw this. Besides a few items, I literally have the EXACT same specs for my PC and just ordered the DT 990 Pro's last night.
So you poney'd up for good parts... but no SSDs. You're limiting your system by a significant amount.
When I went to buy my computer parts, the guy at the counter said:
Don't worry bro, i've got a 250GB 840 Evo in there
Lol I had your dell keyboard until I bought a Steel Series... they work wonders.
Oh this Keyboard is a mechanical one. CM Storm Quickfire XT with Cherry MX Blue switches. It's not a rubberdome Dell even though it may look like one :D
Somebody got their tax refund. Shit!
You should really consider getting a wired Ethernet connection at some point.
I do have a ethernet cable running to the PC, the WiFi module is there for convenience sake. :)
Are you plugging those cans straight into your motherboard?
Yeah, good onboard audio on this motherboard
All in, well played ;)
Running without a cooler...?
I was using the stock cooler for the test bench so i wouldn't have to fiddle with the h100i fans and take them off again. :)
Hey guys, I wanted to pass along a potentially useful tip about ESD. I see a lot of people placing motherboards/components on desks, boxes, and even ESD bags, which could be a problem that may not present itself for years. It never hurts to wear an anti-static strap when building your rigs.
I was wondering the same thing. what was your total cost? just wondering as it seems your from europe was interested in comparing .where did you buy everything from?
How's gaming with two monitors? Isn't it kind of awkward if your crosshair is in the center?
I actually only game on one of them at a time, i purchased the other one for work related stuff aswell as to have a second screen i could have guides/maps/youtube videos or netflix on while i was gaming.
If you're ever interested in mining cryptocurrency - I have the same exact card and mine doge/lite/digi etc at about 619kh/s overclocked. I love this card.
Your mic is quiet because it looks like you are using onboard sound. a good sound card would fix that for you.
Put a NSFW tag you dick! Almost got in trouble! This is way too sexy.
Damn this is beautiful. How are the 2414Hs? Are they good for gaming?
Colorwise, they're absolutely mindblowing. I went from several laptop panels to this and i can't believe what i'm seeing. I'm like jumping from wallpaper to wallpaper to see all the beautiful colors :D
Pretty damn good choice for those screens. They look really neat !
I have the same headphones and a xonar DG sound card has a built in amp and works well with it.
Nice cans! You should think about investing in a good day like the Schiit Modi and a good amp like the Schiit Vali or Magni.
Must be nice to have money
I wouldn't know, my wallet died 2 weeks ago :D
Is it bad that I don't care what the specs are?! I just love it when folks get new hardware and are super stoked!! #datbookmark
Um, checked the specs...fan tab u lous build.
Headphones that good and you didn't get a dedicated sound card...
Onboard Audio is enough to power these, however i might get a Desktop Dac/Amp later on :)
Amp wit the DT 990?
Onboard Audio is very good on this motherboard. 600 Ohm Texas Instruments amplifier and a Cirrus Logic DAC
You can run the audio cable behind the motherboard for a bit of extra length.
This thread brought to you by the fine folks at Corsair. Thanks for the sponsored bookmarks!
Lol, i wish, Corsair pls
