Three Monitors - Computer Setup

Comments

Jesus christ, $380 for a monitor stand. I'm good. Looks nice though
How did you get flappy bird pn your desktop?
You're... you're kidding right?
That's what I was going for.
What are the specifications on that cat?
Based on the picture alone:
Hmm, The biologics 4core.. I heard people has succesfully OC'd it to 3hz with air cooling!
Edit: 5.5Hz!
Unfortunately there was a bug in the system though, the cats that were overclocked became extremely temperamental, and some started picking fights with everything
Lazy, always blocks camera view
This guy right here is asking all of the important questions
Is the stand worth it?
Yes. But I'm biased because I own it as well. It's built like a rock.
Do rocks make good monitor stands?
No its not. I own one and its not a good product.
I have one and it's freaking awesome. Put a little slack in my cables and I can go from landscape to portrait in 30 seconds flat.
Yay! That's my coolcomputersetups. Everyone subscribe!
I wish someone made a stand that nice with the fourth top "utility" monitor.
Holy shit thanks for this!
I have this same stand! I love how durable and sturdy it is and also the monitor positions are very adjustable compared to other stands I have seen. The base of the stand has a larger foot print on my desk than I would like but at least it's stable! However, despite all this I still cringe to think how much I spent on it! All in all I would say that it was worth it though.
I got the same stand, it is well worth the money. Set up looks nice though! Digging the Mario background as well =)
Stupid question - do you need at least two video cards to run three monitors?
No, but if you want to use AMD Eyefinity (in which they're treated as a giant 5760x1080 monitor by the driver), either one of the displays must be native Displayport or run through an active (not passive) adapter, with MiniDisplayPort to DVI being the most common and running around $30 for an adapter.
Not anymore. The new series no longer requires do for eyefinity
It appears you're correct. That said, it's still accurate for Radeon 7000, 6000, and 5000, which I would wager are the majority of Eyefinity-capable cards out right now.
You can get the adaptor on amazon for around 12 bucks with amazon prime. Incase anyone is wondering.
Are said adapters active? Passive ones do not work for Eyefinity.
Looks like it's active, but note this is to VGA. The $30 tag I mentioned was to DVI.
Ahh sorry, but this will still work if you are cheap like me.
Can't Nvidia surround do this too? Or is that something different?
Yes. I have one GTX with three outputs doing this (2xDVI 1xHDMI)
Cool thanks. I would love to do a 5760x1080 setup, but I just bought a 770 and I feel like it won't be enough for decent settings on most modern games and maybe I should've spent the extra for the 780. :/
770 should be fine. I can run most games comfortably in 5760x1080 on an FX-8350/Radeon 7970GE setup.
Processors don't usually make a difference in gaming resolutions do they? I'm about to be in the market for a new mobo+cpu and I was thinking the Asus Gryphon and i5 4670k.
They're an important part, but the GPU is the more relevant peice the higher resolution you go. Best not to skimp on it.
So do you personally think the 8350 is a better choice in terms of gaming?
No. The 4670 is an overall faster chip at stock with lower power draw. It also supports PCIE 3.0, which while I think is a trival thing given difficulty saturating PCIE 2.0, others will disagree.
I have the 770, I'm doing 5760x1200 with out any issues.
What games and at what settings do you play, if you don't mind me asking?
Sure, The ones checked are optimized by the card. Either they are max settings or just below it.
I have three monitors in a non-Eyefinity and game with my aging 6950 just fine. I don't really play cutting edge games, though: lately, it's been Skyrim, Dragon Age, and the Titanfall beta. Still chugging along.
Looks like Surround doesn't have the Displayport requirement.
Depends on the video card. It definitely helps though particularly with gaming.
For everyone put off by the price, I bought this stand off amazon and it's rock solid.
I was thinking about that mount. Pic of your setup?
It's a nice stand, it's basically a Ergotech 100-D16-B03-TW with another base. I have to admit, it looks better than my Ergotech.
Very nice , i was looking for one like that but then i saw the price ;x still need to save up for that
I love one of these that clamps to my desk. For the life of me I can't find a good 27" triple monitor clamp mount
That desktop setup would be pretty awesome if you utilized rainmeter.
You're the first person I've seen that puts the taskbar on the side.
I do this on my work computer. Very useful if you need a lot of windows open in the same program at the same time. Show the text labels, small icons, and don't combine. Also helps if you widen the bar a bit.
Works best with this setup IMHO, I don't need it that often and this way it takes up the least amount of important desktop space.
Share your Desktop wallpaper, please.
I have this stand and it sucks so much. Out of the box the left monitor sags about 2 inches. Its also way too big but I knew that going into the purchase. Its too expensive for not providing many good qualities
Dell SK-8135. It's an AZERTY though
That is the exact keyboard and mouse combo my high school uses.
What monitors are you using? I have 3 Dell s2440l's but no vesa mount:-( Would it hold 24" monitors? I can buy an adapter but it's like $20 a pop so an extra $60 to mount like this... Not sure if it's worth $400+ to do it or spend that money on the Oculus Rift when it comes out??
I have this exact wallpaper on my triple monitor setup as well, it's one of my favorites.
Why do you have the taskbar on the far left screen on the right side? Put it on the middle screen bottom or far side of the screens...Weird not to with multiple monitors
Those Dell keyboard are amazing, even if they aren't mechanical. I have a box of them that I give to my customers usually.
I used to have that same exact keyboard and it was amazing.
Have the same ones at work. They're cheap - I take a freshie every couple of months. Nothing like a brand new keyboard.
It's what we use at work so easy to replace, not too bad of a keyboard tbh
Dell keyboards aren't too shabby, I gamed with a wireless version of that for a while.
More interested in the cat, does it come with the computer LOL
