This is a display I've had since 2008, and it's been faithful and good to me. For now I'll be keeping it, and not sure how much longer it will last. When it does become time to replace it, I will probably go crazy and get something really special. I'll research all of that when the time comes though. :)
Right on, man. It sounds like you know what you are doing. I was in the same boat a year ago and reluctant to spend the cash on the higher end displays. I did my research, waited for a sale, and I now couldn't be happier. It makes worlds of difference, you won't regret it. Good luck!
Lol, maybe not so much "know what I'm doing" as "can't afford to go nice monitor AND nice computer at the same time, so I'll get the monitors later but I'll make it worth the wait." Haha
I have 2 1080p 24" 144Hz Asus monitors. Was that a bad choice :0 ?
A single 1080p monitor isn't really harnessing the full capability of OP's 7970 GHz.
Yea I have a 7970 and I eventually got a 2560x1440 monitor from South Korea for about $400, as barebones as it gets but stunning nonetheless.
Yeah after really debating doing a triple monitor set up, I realized that for my budget I wouldn't be able to really get something that handled three monitors well since I would have to also purchase the three monitors. I might look to upgrade to three later, but I kind of like just having one. It's a 24 inch even though it may look small thanks to that desk lol.
Definitely move the card to the top slot. Usually those bottom slots are only wired for 8x.
I actually did this back when I had a 5670. Granted, 16x vs 8x on that thing probably wasn't gonna do a whole hell of a lot haha
Really not a fan of that sub-coolcomputersetups, as long as the slots are physically wired for x16 you should be fine. Airflow wise it might be better considering the first 120mm fan is blocked by the drive cage and the card would be further away from the 212 on the CPU.
I actually went and looked and the little gold pins were only halfway up on the slot it was in, but completely across in the one that I moved it to. I haven't really done any benchmarking so I'm not sure if it changed anything, but I'm pretty sure the one was only 8x while this one is 16x.
What motherboard do you have specifically? Looks like a Gigabyte Z77 UD3 series.
Yeah I have the UD3H. Thanks again :)
Looks identical to my ideal build...too bad I had to cut it down for budget. At least we still have the same phone :)
Very Nice! I'm looking at the same CPU/CPU Cooler but I was curious to see why you picked that particular motherboard. Not that it's a bad one I'm just trying to decide. I was looking at the ASRock Extreme 4 motherboard but still trying to see which would be best for me.
The UD3H is higher quality(better vrms, better for overclocking) than the Asrock. Also, it isn't that ugly ass brown.
Thanks.Yeah I don't care about the color.. lol but a better motherboard is what I'm looking for.
Thanks. I will research it a bit more. I am going to be purchasing the CPU/Mobo at MicroCenter so I want to get the $40 savings for the combo.
Lol, that's a huge sports duffle bag. Whatever though :) Have an bookmark.
L-S-WHO?! Just kidding. Nice setup. SSD= Best investment on Earth.
Serious, it boots up faster than Barkevious Mingo... ;)
If only JaMarcus booted up as fast when he hit the NFL :-/
Yeah, that dude's work ethic was non-existent. It's too bad, because he had the size to be like Big Ben at least.
Is that a glorious MSI GE60/70? I have one myself!
Nice catch! Yeah that's what I was gaming on for almost the last year. Finally sat down and built a desktop and I'm glad I have both :)
Awesome! I've had my desktop 3 Yeats before my laptop. Pretty awesome having both! :)
Woo nice G510 I have that too
You should move your graphics card to the top slot. I can't tell if the pcb is blue or black so I'm not sure if that's a 7970 or 7950. You might not need to move it if it's a 7950.
Looks to be the 7970GHZ 3GB. I have the same one (RMA'D today)
Just went back to look at it again and it is indeed a 7970 vapor-x not a 7950.
My card is a Vapor-X 7970 Ghz Edition, but PC partpicker refuses to put the right one. lol
Oh I'll edit my comment. But I would still suggest you moving the graphics card to the top slot as you will get better airflow to it and better performance since the bottom slot is only an 8x slot.
