Che Guevarra on corporation produced items, the high school train of thought pains me.
I see where your coming from, and obviously you don't know me so your appraisal isn't unfair. It is definitely true that Che was not a fan of Capitalism (to put it lightly), not to mention one of the maximum symbols of said Capitalism, corporations. However, I don't agree with Che's economic policies. I don't agree with communism. What I admire about Che Guevara was his image as a freedom fighter. He's a man who saw horrible injustices being committed and had to do something about it. He died fighting for people's rights in a continent that was up to its neck in dictatorships, corruption and social inequality. I think that's what resonates with the people who admire him. South of the border you'll see his image pop up a lot, especially amongst students. People who look up to him (at least down here in Mexico, don't advocate or support communism or an armed rebellion (although with the way things are going in some parts of the country...)Its mostly people who see injustice and corruption in the country and in Che they see someone who fought and died defending justice and equality. I guess Fidel Castro's curse was that he lived, and time corrupted what was a revolution with good intentions. Anyway, I guess I just wanted to talk about where I was coming from. Not sure why though, Its not like we'll probably every meet. Its funny now that I think about it but why would I feel the need to explain myself to someone I don't know? And that's a genuine question, Im not being a smart ass. Anyways, take care.
Ive always found interesting the huge difference in views that Americans have about Che when compared to how how latin nations view him. Down in Mexico we weren't bombarded with anti-red or anti-Che propaganda. In fact, the majority of college students in Mexico back in the 60's agreed with socialist ideals. That empathy I believe was born from the fact that we we're living in pretty much a dictatorship. The Revolutionary Institutional Party ruled for 71 years. We had no freedom of speech, we had political persecution, civil rights were constantly trampled, people would speak out against the government and the next day they would disappear. It all culminated in the terrible student massacre of Tlatelolco in 1968, where hundreds of students were gunned down by the army during a peaceful demonstration. 1968 is a year that was burned into the memory of every college student in the country. So you can see why there was a lot people who agreed with Che's socialist ideals of greater equality and social justice. Down here we never really had the whole "red-scare" anti-communist cold war paranoia. The only thing Mexicans really didn't like about the communists of the time was the prohibition of religious expression. Mexico is a deeply catholic country, my grandma sometimes called me a "Bolshevik" when I stopped going to church. Its because of the Soviet Union's religious ban that the United States added "In God We Trust" to the bills and "One nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance. Anyways, Ive been going on for too long. I guess all Im saying is we all judge or see things from different points of view, and history usually has more than one side to it. The figure of Che is nothing if not controversial and polarizing.
As a cuban who knows him as a murderer,
go fist yourself
As an individual who uses logic and knows about history. Get your facts straight and go eat your shit ideals.
^ This cuban guy is pissed at you. better change that wall paper OP.
I think the "cuban guy", if indeed he is Cuban, would defend my right to have that wallpaper as I will defend his right to hate it. After all, that's one of the founding principals of the United States, a country I imagine his ancestors risked a lot to get to in order to reach freedom. BTW Im not an American but I am a fan of the US Bill of Rights, awesome document.
Exactly what I was thinking.
So was George Washington. And a traitor.
Wait you have a dog, not a cat.
Alas, I developed an allergy to cats in my teens. Only had one and had to get rid of it.
I think you should move the monitors closer together.
Problem is the speakers. I used to have them up on the shelves but it ended up being too high up.
What size are those verticle monitors?
I see that full throttle in the background. my favorite game ever
Eww, how can you use those secondary displays with that gap between them and the main display? I realise it's because of the speakers, but...
Yeah I did kinda have to get used to it. But I need them speakers.
Ah, your speakers fit perfectly. Ill try it anyway, thnx.
Upvote for the pug in its natural state, sleeping.
What brand are the vertical moniters
Their both DELL. The one on the right Ive had for like 6 years. The one on the left I just bought. Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" IPS LED LCD Monitor - 16:9 - 8 ms
Looks great, my only suggestion would be to swap your exterior monitors with your A5's and angle them inwards. You'll get a better soundscape from the speakers and take care of the gap between screens.
You know, I thought about it but it looked like they would be too far apart,Ill give it a try.
You should aim to make an equilateral triangle with the two speakers and the listening point (i.e. your head) as the corners of the triangle.
Ill try it out. It might be tricky cuz these bad boys are big and I tend to sit close to the screen so the speakers would have to be pretty angled.
Not angled, but further back, but I understand. Not everyone has the liberty of space to have ideal placement for everything.
Curious, How did you get more than one other monitor hooked up to a mac? Wondering if it is possible to do with my macbook pro... also the smaller screen with the weather and time on, is that just a fancy clock, tablet or a smaller display?
Well, the iMac has two thunderbolt/minidisplay ports on the back. So I bought some mini display to DVI adapters and voila! The clock is an iPad which is mounted on a nifty arm. Its a Twelve South Hover Arm Ver.2
Who is the guy on the right monitor. Thought it looked like Waylon Jennings but not sure.
Looks like Che Guevarra. OP is also watching The Young Turks on youtube. OP also says he spent $98k on his home theater. So... Make of that what you will.
Now that you've mentioned it. That's exactly who it is. Didn't think about that
All your down votes are coming from cubans. lol
Probably, although Ive always wondered why. I mean, if they would hate anyone I would guess it'd be Castro. I mean, Che was an idealist who fought for the cuban revolution, but when it was over he left for Bolivia because he wanted to liberate south america from dictatorships. It was really Castro who took things from there in Cuba and messed it up. In my opinion, Che died a hero and Castro has lived long enough to see himself become a villain. Am I quoting something?
Actually, let me correct my self. I was wrong in saying he left for Bolivia immediately after because he did actually have a couple of positions in the newly formed government. Quite important positions, I don't want to give the impressions that he ended relations with Castro soon after the revolution. Nonetheless, 5 years after the new government was formed he left cuba to assist other freedom fighters in Africa and South America.
Fuck everyone here, Che Guevara is not bad OP. Remember that Coolcomputersetups is politically fucked up.
I underestimated American feelings towards the figure of Che. Its just that south of the border he's viewed in a different manner.
