I'm not a hardened criminal so I can't relate to any prisons outside of my area, but where I live if you're sentenced to less than one year you go to jail as opposed to prison. There is only one kind of jail here: fuck you and your life jail, it doesn't matter if you killed someone or jaywalked, it's all the same.

Jail is for people that broke the law but haven't been tried for their crimes. Prison is where you go AFTER you've been sentenced.

It also depends on your sentence length.

It's mostly semantics, but from what I've learned is that prisoners have more freedom (irony at it's fullest)

That's pretty much a country wide thing. After doing some reading, not sure what crimes you can commit that are a misdemeanor level, against yourself except maybe some type of fraud?

Wait. The OP was sentenced to 6 months in jail. Which of the above are actually a potential to get you that kind of time? Because I know a few people who got a few of those and they did not get anywhere near 6 months (a 2nd DUI got 1 night comes to mind and a minuscule fine)

Any gross misdemeanor can get you up to a year. Well, 364 days and/or a $5000 fine. DUI, Theft 3, Assault 4, DV cases... I think the firearm ones are all gross misdemeanors as well.

Depends on where you're at/from.

First DUI in Tennessee is 2 days in jail minimum (unless your blood alcohol was over .20, then it's 7), alcohol classes, up to a $1500 fine, suspended license for a year, and a bunch of stuff I'm probably forgetting.

Yeah sounds almost exactly like kansas. Over .15 is considered "Aggrevated DUI" or something, and comes with EXTRA fines. The minimum jail time can be substituted for like 50 hours community service per day of jail you'd otherwise be subject to. You can get a "restricted" permit to go to work/school after like 3 to 6 months I think, but there's a lot of "if's" and extra fees involved there as well.

Been to state pen, know people that have been in fed. Fed is way better. Swanky even, compared to state or county jails.

6 months is on the long side, even jail kicks out the people that listen to instruction and keep their nose clean. With time served and credit for being good you should be out a lot sooner. Best of Luck

That's our legal system for ya screwing you whenever it can I'm sure I've got attachments out for a bs traffic ticket one I can't currently afford to pay because I'm unemployed. Wasn't unemployed when I got said ticket but while I was disputing said ticket I ended up moving and became unemployed. So until I get another job I'm toeing the line

So if you have a warrant for a traffic ticket, i'm gonna assume your license is suspended, driving on suspended license is just gonna be another ticket/jail and your car impounded. sorry bud.

Hmm could be it's suspended doesn't really matter though I have no car atm I'll have to pay that ticket someday but for the record cops are ass holes first question cop asked me was where are the other people who were in your car my response I just left work which is across the street there were no other people

typically they do for traffic related warrants, though everywhere is different. so when you do get around to taking care of that, make sure to ask about the status of your license. they dont always automatically take it off suspension. I did an internship at a PD and saw a similar situation where a guy had paid off his warrants but they never reinstated his license. just trying to help a guy out.

I built this before i was on coolcomputersetups. Same case, some gigabite micro atx mobo, amd fx 4100 cpu, amd 7770 gpu, 128 gb ssd and a 500 gb hdd.
