Double Monitor - Computer Setup

Comments

What kind of battles take place on a macbook with no peripherals running off of battery?
Via voice command. The true chess computer setup.
When I make my move, the queen will take me. That leaves you free to check the king!
He's just got ridiculously long arms and a wireless mouse, they're just outside the frame.
Three monitors, you can do it at the same time Mr Condescending.
Very, very shorts = 12 hours.
I actually thought it was the Samsung Chromebook.
That picture is almost entirely out of focus.
I can't even figure out what the focus is supposed to be on. The front corner of the phone?
Last time I went there I saw a barrage of comments saying
It's the third bullet point down.
The entire sub-coolcomputersetups just reminds me of the Nihilists from the Big Lebowski.
I'm a bit of a minimalist in that I'm trying to reduce the amount of clutter in my life and so I love that sub. But if not for the serious content, I love that they're so damn meta/cognizant of themselves.
They've changed it up, they allow this as minimalistic style, the other is lifestyle.
He didn't heed your advice and he's getting chewed out there too now.
Came here to say this, but retake the picture and focus on the laptop not the phone :D
Or just generally open up the depth of field a tiny little bit...
Would love to know if it was purchased or made, along with a different perspective shot.
Is there a DualMonitorsBlackCaseWithLightsInside one? It'd cover most of the submissions here.
Good to see strict rules from the outset.
LOL you just described my computer exactly. Now i feel bad.
I think a lot of us related to that!
I won't imply: this doesn't belong here.
It isn't, but a picture of a laptop on a desk is not really what were looking for.
Audio engine A2 speakers. Definitely decent. If they're the A2+, then they have a built in DAC.
The only thing that station can battle is bloggers and facebook posts
Whatever, man. That's a bitchin' picnic table.
A laptop on a desk IS NOT a "gaming setup"
Don't bring a dinghy to a naval battle.
The place in which one does battle online, not update twitter and read facebook and possibly photoshop.
Sometimes they do work as a personal gaming setup, but the question comes down to what is a gaming setup in regards to this coolcomputersetups, and is someone's personal space /really/ what we are about, or are we more about extreme or setups that are a bit more man-cave like (for lack of a better term)?
Gaming setups are like art, indeed. I prefer clean-looking modest setups, like this one, or even a double monitor setup. also, everything that has a guitar in it.
That would depend entirely upon the game you want to play.
Nowhere, but it should at least resemble a gaming setup.
I'd say it's a valid submission.
It's nice to be able to do shallow depth of field and all, but the majority of the gaming setup is out of focus. Often minimalism involves a simple composition with things in focus, not a shallow focal plane.
Shallow depth of field works really well when done correctly. The problem with this image is that the only thing in focus is the phone.
I'm well aware shallow dof can be very successful. I own some 1.2 glass. It has its place, but I don't think this is it. The image is about the gaming setup, which includes that blurry thing in the background.
Stop that lens down, bro!
Yeah... Where did you get that? Or did you make it yourself? OP DELIVER
Where is this desk from??
Why do people think having almost nothing in focus is cool?
It's a piece of garbage picture. Not sure why nobody is saying anything.
Probably because they don't share your opinion.
It's definitely not a piece of garbage picture. Good framing, good subject, awesome colors. Really the only things that would have made it look better would be focusing on the center of the keyboard and stopping down a tiny bit; maybe a little less than a whole stop.
The only thing that would make it better is a proper aperture. This photo was shot with an extremely fast lens for no reason at all. Bokeh is nice when it's used correctly in shot composition, but it has no place here. Ideally, this should have been shot at around f/8 or higher so that everything would be in focus.
I'm speaking more along the lines of what would make it look better, not what would make it look better for the coolcomputersetups.
It would look better with a proper aperture. Instead of your eyes getting cut off form look at anything beyond half of the keyboard, you could see the entire scene. Bokeh is supposed to be used to draw your eyes to the subject of a photo and blur out the insignificant and distracting background details. Here, the subject of the photo is his desk as a whole, but unnecessary use of bokeh frames only the phone and first half of the laptop, which is why it looks bad.
You literally just repeated what I said in my original comment..... Stop down and center onto the laptop...
It stems from people who think bokeh looks cool (and it does look cool) but don't know how to use it properly in shot composition. A damn shame, this photo would have been very good if it were not for the shitty focus.
More likely perhaps is that the photographer misaligned the depth of field because the photo is very close to being very good.
I'm with you. It's clear this isn't a potato.
It's called depth of field it adds depth, all that's really wrong is where the focus is on the edge of the laptop and the cell phone. When was the last time your entire field of vision was in focus?
But... the a2's aren't even connected.
We don't need separate subs for every possible submission
Every setup is a plain laptop on a desk. Really interesting.....
Could you provide more photos of the table itself?
Probably burned it with a propane blow torch, then scrape/brush of the ash and stain/oil it. Pretty cool process.
Audioengine speakers? If so, excellent choice, I love my original A5's.
Thats not a computer setup, that's a table with a laptop on it.
Are those audio engine speakers?
Yeah, they're A2's. I've had them for at least a year now and freakin' love them. I've considered adding the AudioEngine sub to them, but I've been really satisfied without it for normal-level listening.
So...I see no wire. Are they connected in this photo?
They do have a wireless adapter available, but I don't see the dongle connected to the laptop.
It bothers me when people pose gaming setup pictures this much. There's a line between cleaning it up and removing core components. You use a charger, and you connect the speakers. Unless there's a Bluetooth receiver the speakers are connected to. Which would be pretty cool. And worth bragging about.
It's possible he has it connected to an Apple Airport Express which allows you to connects speakers to use Airplay.
Get the sub. What's the point of having nice speakers if you can't listen to the full range?
Unless you have nice full-range speakers.
I don't know the frequency range of the speakers he has, but I guarantee you they aren't full range.
I was being a pedant, one of my jobs is sound engineering :)
I have the sub with the A5+'s. Even at a low volume it really makes your music sound that much better. Even more so if you have a DAC.
Not going to lie, I like the picture, but what is 'battle worthy' of a laptop on a desk? Sometimes I feel as if this is becoming the sub for cables desks and monitors, impressive computers optional.
How the fuck did this trash post get any bookmarks? Its a bad picture, of a laptop, on a desk.
Why on earth would you keep a notepad beside a laptop that has a notepad built in?
3 screens at work, 3 screens at home, a 17" laptop, a Nexus 7, a Nexus 4 and I spend my entire life carrying A4 squared pads around because for designing/sketching out code architectures we simply haven't improved on a bic crystal grip and an £0.80 pad from the discount store.
Notepad to take notes and drafting on the go, laptop to process, organize and store them.
Oh totally, but the person who took this picture isn't doing any of those things. They just have it in the picture because it looks trendy beside their inferior over-priced laptop.
Does this even count? There's no creativity here, it's literally just a laptop on a table.
About the quote not your post:
So let my put my phone on my empty desk. It'll get 700 bookmarks because it's "minimal", right?
Thats fucking retarded. You have nothing but a laptop on a desk. That isn't fucking perfect. You're a moron.
Is this really what this coolcomputersetups has become? An over focused pic of a stock laptop on a fancy desk? Who cares.
Yea i dont get it? whats so unique or special about this
Moleskin journals are the best. Well worth the money.
Don't forget to prop up your penny farthing against the fashionable unpainted brick wall in your high rise apartment. Then stroll on over to your red leather desk chair and kick off your blue converse shoes before unbuttoning your skinny blazer. Don't wanna spend too long there though, keep an eye on your 3 inch big golden mechanical watch. But just in case you don't have time to check it, you know, working at facebook's design department and all, must be hectic, so keep and eye on your Google glass!
Are you the guy that built the desk top in the window and posted it to DIY?
I have those same speakers. How do you get them to recline?
Why so scratched iPhone :<?
That is a sexy looking desk
I feel ashamed that this actually is what my gaming setup looks like.
Is that a fucking chromebook, wtf op they suck
What kind of phone is that? looks like an iphone but the edges are different
This looks nice, but tbh, I wouldn't want to come home to this or use this for hours on end.
I would havet sex on that table. That table is fantastic.
This is a mac... On a desk....
"And it never looked like this again"
Can I ask about the desk? Custom made? If so what materials did you use?
Why did someone downvote you? Its a good question
Lol I have no idea. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I wanted to know because I'm planning on building a custom desk myself. I was curious what kind of woods, wood stains and other materials people use/recommend. I don't see anything wrong about that. This is r/gaming setup of course and a desk is a big part of that. I would love to know why I was downvoted. Maybe this brave soul will come fourth and explain. =p
You're gonna run out of battery real fast ;P
That is not a gaming setup and this is a pathetic submission. Downvoted.
Saying "this post sucks" is not a "personal attack".
My forearms got splinters just looking at that.
Someone should make this picture black & white.
Unless I'm mistaken I believe it's a Pentel Sharp Kerry, which is a mechanical pencil.
Man, what desk is that? I want one of those!
Looks like some patio furniture.
That desk is amazing! Where did you get it?
Where did you get that desk!?
Love your taste in Moleskin products. I have the same notebook, as well as a pocket version and a weekly planner.
Doesn't seem like many people on here like moleskin products
I'd love one, or any other fancy notebook, if I didn't fear I'd ruin it with my terrible handwriting and messy sketching.
Have that same Moleskine....love it!
What model pen is that?
Wow, a lot of want. What type of wood is that OP?
Look at all the room for activities!
I was pondering the idea of building my own desk...you, sir, have inspired my choice of finish color.
I want a desk like that.
I use those same notebooks. (The paper one...)
How dafuq do you make it messy with only dat shit
We need to know, where did the desk come from!
OP PLS SO THEY STOP ASKING ME
What kind of speakers do you have?
I believe those are white Audioengine A4's on the optional risers. I would say A5+'s but the tweeter is centered and they look too big to be A2's
The A5+ has a 5" cone, they're much larger.
I'm gonna guess he adds shit over time
Why are you replying to me lol
Woops. Well that is what I get for using a tablet to Coolcomputersetups...
I feel you. I just moved my desk, so everything is in place and aligned, but wait for tomorrow...
