Gaming Setup - Computer Setup

Yep, was just thinking the same thing. It's been like this even without the sleeved cables when I ran them over the card, so not much I can do. I still prefer keeping the cables under the card though, but it's still a worry.
Mine does this too, think it affects the GPU in any way?
Oh god that's painful to look at. Put an NSFL tag please.
Oh god, quad SLI, X79 watercooled rig and the gpus snap off the PCI slots. that is painful
Oh dear. That looks like a RIVE. So much money gone.
Might only be the mobo that's hosed; cards likely fine?
Yup. I would say the same.
It can cause the heatsink to peel away from the GPU die and the soldered connections to snap.
That sounds terrible. My mobo GPU clip is broken, so its hanging a little bit, not as much as OP but still. Thanks for the info though.
I jerry rigged a zip tie arrangement to the 24pin connector on mine to keep my GPU from sagging. It bent the piss out of my last boards PCI express slot.
I have a very similar PC to you. Look closer, are sure its sagging or is it just naturally at an angle to where it looks like its sagging?
Looking at it now, it's only sagging at a ~5* angle. In pictures it looks much worse though.
5* is still a lot for something that isn't supposed to have any sag. You might want to look into getting a backplate for your card.
Honestly, just get some black legos, and prop it up. I did it with mine, and I have the same case (well, the Arc Midi R2, so it's basically the same thing without the door on the front), the hue, and I can't even see the legos. Mine was sagging worse than yours though, but now it's completely straight! I put a larger "base" lego on the bottom, and also a longer thin one at the top to stabilize the contact point. I can take piictures if you want
You could possibly use a zip-tie.
Eh, I'd rather been standing on something than hanging from something, so I'll do the same for my GPU
What an elegant solution to a crappy problem.
Sadly, I don't. I've never needed one to have to look for one.
<3 thank you first thing I noticed
"It'll do, for now. Replacing my old Denon amp that took too much room." - the guy with his computer sideways across the table
Wait, you went from a Denon receiver to a lepai?
That's right. I wanted the extra room.
What model was the denon? is the loss significant?
...Anndd cooler. Almost forgot.
I have the same mouse! Oh btw, whats your chair? Its quite nice. Im thinking about replacing mine because the seat is deteriorating.
Echo from Structube. The seat is deteriorating too, I'd recommend some of their other stuff though.
How are those Stax? I've been very tempted to get a pair.
Fan-flipping-tastic. Most realistic sound I've ever heard. Get some 96Khz tracks and just doze off. The soundstage is brilliant. Doesn't distort until about 100db, which is just mad. Only con I can think of is that the bass distorts a bit at higher volumes, so I have to turn down the bass. I still need something proper to run these, but I can't recommend them enough. They're like 20 years old now, so buy it for life. There were a pair of Stax on Massdrop, so you might be able to snag some for 800$ still. Highs are sharp and bass is real. Everybody's reactions are always a jaw-drop.
Just looked up that amp. Why are they so cheap?
I have a really hard time believing the lepai is comparable to a denon amp. I have a lepai and I hate it, constant noise and dc whenever I turn it on or off.
You might have the 2011/2012 version. They fixed hissing. It really is comparable, believe me or not. I do plan on replacing the cap later on though.
Did they fix the DC? Do your speakers really not hiss when the amp is turned up all the way?
I'll be honest 10-20 years ago, I wouldn't think twice about the quality of a $300 anything over a $30 version from China. What has changed is that what was once buy at a local dealer can now be purchased from the other side of the word on the internet. It can bring costs down significantly. Maybe not to $30 but I think too many people think high cost equates to better sound.
I never said it outperformed it. Of course the Denon amp sounds better, but this is a temporary fix.
I'll take a free amp like yours after you replace the cap, mkay?
Of course they hiss, but I would need a new power supply to crank it all the way.
Haven't had much experience with Class-T amps before i might try this out. Wish it had a headphone jack though :/ BTW gorgeous setup.
Yeah, it's a small amplifier so no audio out apart from the +/- LR output. You could always get a cheap Fiio DAC for your headphones though. Thanks!
Link? I could use a small amp.
Bookmarkd cause of your electrostatics. SR 5 owner here =D.
Yeh yeh! How are they?
I dont want to trade them for anything im always disappointed when i use my Headset or have to use my in ears while commuting. I guess that says all =D
These spoiled me, I know what you mean. Nothing is good enough anymore.
Mind explaining to me what 'electrostatics' are?
I would explain it to you in a long paragraph, but I'm on mobile so I'd suggest for you to read the paragraph on Wikipedia. Sorry :/
I recognize that build. You recommended that cpu cooler to me once
Hah! Still do. It looks great and completely silent at 4.6Ghz.
Was gonna say omfg how 4.6ghz on air and quiet?! then realized it's an AMD lol. beautiful rig i especially like the hue
Hey man since you said we can ask. What do you do to get those nice blue border lights around your pc. Looks real nice.
Maybe I should get some fancy lights for my rig... show off the liquid cooling I'm installing this week.
What kind of chair is that?
Is doesn't look too comfortable.
Not Ikea, its the Echo from Structube. Love Structube, not the chair.
What camera did you use to take these? They all look great
Buying a DSLR won't make you a photographer. The photos "look great" because OP has a good eye and knows how to use the camera. He Probably could have achieved similar results with a decent cell phone camera.
"These muffins taste great! What kind of oven did you use?"
It's no problem, I understand that. I'm currently using a Nexus S, and the camera works just fine. I know absolutely nothing about cameras and I'm on the edge on whether I should get this, or upgrade to a phone with an impressive camera for much much more. Though, I haven't done much research on either yet.
I don't understand the downvotes. Your comment, though it can come across as brash, is entirely truthful. OP did use a DSLR, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have a good eye.
It's just coolcomputersetups being coolcomputersetups. I knew it wouldn't be very popular, but had to say it.
Way to just shoot him down for asking a simple question.
He got his answer didn't he? I'm just trying to save him from buying a 300 dollar camera expecting it to take quality pictures out of the box.
That's a very nice chair and desk setup. Would you mind sharing what model those are?
Ahahah, I just realized I have the same exact desk, only the black version.
Why is the GPU saggy? One more question how you keep your desk clean? i mean in the long run my white desk has dirt or stuff that are hard to clean :(
Nvm found my question by scrolling down, sweet setup btw.
Me gusta. Almost up there with my other favourite Fractal Rig (which I am aiming to replicate)
Right there with ya. Both of these builds put me on the R4 bandwagon.
I wonder how hot that gpu gets. I imagine the radiator fans are on intake and blowing right into the gpu.
Quality peripherals make the biggest difference.
Agreed. Nothing bothers me more than someone with a $2500 build and 5 monitors but a rubberdome keyboard, wireless laser mouse, and logitech speakers and headset.
What kind of speakers are those? And how do you like them/what type of music do you listen to?
JBL JVC Active hyper-bass or something like that. Found them in my basement. They're pretty bad without some tweaking, you can see the treble is way up on my Lepai. I listen to just about anything that isn't pop. They're not the sharpest speakers. You could compare them to 40$ earbuds, I guess. Not bad for hip-hop, but anything with proper instruments just doesn't sound great. The Stax still blows them out of the water in every aspect, even without proper amplification. They do the job, but I plan on replacing them with Audioengine A5+'s in white eventually.
Ugh construction work speakers. I've been around them for too long. At least they're loud, right?
That they are. Bass pops a little when loud, so I have to turn the bass down a notch.
This desk looks so good in white :)
It does! I've seen a few posts here with the same desk and I had to get it. Fits great with the rest of my room.
Just curious, what are you using to hang your headphones from on the far right side of the first picture?
That's a great case. I've got the same one but man, it's so unfortunate to me how they made the door open up on the right side but the window is on the right side.
Agreed. I have to move my speakers every time I want to play with the Hue.
Awesome setup, how'd you get those fancy colored sleeved cables?
That is an amazing setup! wish i had something half as great. just one thing that i'm curious about. do you actually use your keyboard placed to the left of your monitor like in the pictures?
Only for gaming. For typing, I generally keep it in the middle, touching the case.
I see. was wondering how you'd be typing with the keyboard to the left. awesome gaming setup man, really awesome. digging the clean look, all white and black. and nice strat btw, my dream guitar!
+1 for Zowie, I have the FK myself. I love how clean everything looks, and the yellow lamp gives a nice colour to everything. Would look gorgeous with F.lux!
Moving from an M60, this thing is great. F.lux though... it's like looking through honey.
Just give it a couple of nights and your eyes will adjust. You won't notice it.
Extremely clean and cut perfect place freak me out, it totally unnerves me, makes me if think if i leave 1 button of my shirt unbuttoned and say something foul as i make a little mess or just drop something on floor and ruin carpet, i will be cut into pieces and no one will know how i disappeared. feels like control freaks house.
Oh, it's not that tidy. I mean, I keep my stuff cleaner and more organized than most people I know, but it's not too minimal.
How do you like the Be Quiet cooler? Also, where did you get it from?
Bought it from BestDirect, free shipping and arrived in 8 days. It doesn't look like they carry it anymore. It's silent, keeps cool at 4.6Ghz and looks great. Nothing bad to say.
What are you using to prop the tablet and phone? :)
Just the Apple smart cover.
Sweet. How are the speakers? I plan on getting them.
Holy shit, I have the exact same table, except in black. Please tell me I'm not the only one that uses that mini table thing as a leg-rest?
Oh, totally. Breaking Bad, kick up my feet and relax.
Bof, not until I get my Poker II.
Holy shit man, I have the same screen, same case (white color), same CPU cooler, same motherboard, same RAM...
You're a man of good taste!
Btw. How does the Hue fit with the door on the case. Been thinking of getting one but a bit skeptical about the fit
Fits snug. Only pokes the foam about 1mm.
Man, that set up is slick.
I've seen be quiet heatsinks before, they just look so damn sexy!
Yep. I'm glad I chose this over the Phanteks one.
The outward appearance of the set up would make Dieter Rams shed a tear of approval.
Everything is cool, except the mouse! get a black one.
Got the mouse for super-cheap to replace my M60. Getting white audioengine A5+s eventually, so it should match.
Why? (Just wondering why you use them, gathering info for a new build!)
What. Your computer screen can go to portrait mode? Since when was this feature added and how can I get one?
Any monitor can do it, mine just has a stand that supports it. Right click your desktop and click screen resolution.
Hey did you use anything to help your Hue stay attached inside your case? mine isn't sticky enough and always comes detached :(
What is that on the side of the desk to hang things?
Are those sleeved cable extensions? I'm asking because the PSU cables do not look the same.
Perhaps the BEST gaming setup I have seen on here. so simple and clean, great setup and basically my dream. Great work and great pics :)
Sorry if this was actually answered but, what desk is that? I love it :3
Can I see more of the shielded cables? Need inspiration!
I've got one of those amps, they're actually really good.
I would recommend turning off the tone function though, it sounds so much better without it.
I completely disagree. Mine sounds infinitely better with it on.
I just adjusted mine to the setting you're using, and it does sound great! It sounded like crap with both dials on 5.
Please place a painting on the wall in front of your computer. It would look so nice!
I've got one above the fireplace right to the left of my setup :)
If you use that amp with those settings you are retarded!!!
I could never use those Stax because I think they are so ugly. Sure they sound great, but I would sooner go for a LCD-3 or HD800. I still love your setup.
Have you tried any Audeze phones? I've never owned any of these because I'm kind of broke, but they are comfy and have great soundstage to my ears when I had a short listen.
Briefly, yeah. The highs just weren't as fresh, for a lack of a better word. I just couldn't give up my cans. If I were to ever replace them, I'd definitely go with electrostatic once again.
I understand, and not that price indicates quality, but moving from $2000 phones to $1200 does seem kind of silly.
These were 2000$ back in the day!
I haven't been watching the prices. Last time I saw the LCD-3 they were $1200.
Oh, ok. I've had these for years, they're more of a "vintage collector's item" thing. No longer in production. Like collecting old cars.
O_O maybe you've confused that with the HE-6? LCD3-3 is still at $2k and even used ones are going for $1.5k-1.8k.
Hmm the HD800 is known to have one of the largest soundstage and accurate imaging of all headphones, even besting the SR009. Maybe the setup you heard the HD800 on did not do the phones justice?
Possibly. I've also read on numerous comparisons that the Stax have a more natural sound. You can't really compare regular drivers to electrostatic ones though.
