Gaming Setup - Computer Setup

I need to know everything about that keyboard.
I was reading about the different switch types because I'm considering getting a mechanical keyboard. Seems like Reds are the most common. How do you like the Blues? How do they feel?
Blues are a bit more stiff, but the reds require less pressure and don't have the audible click (unless you bottom out) nor a tactile feel.
I've only ever used blues as my daily drivers, while only shortly playing with reds and browns. The main reason I like the blues are definitely the tactile switches vs linear. I like feeling that actuation point too. Plus the click. Loooove the click. Some might find it annoying but you get used to it. I believe people like reds for being linear, allowing them to repeatedly tap the key without having to release the key all the way up. Everyone has their own opinion and style. If you're looking at MX switches, you can always find a switch tester to play around with them all before you make the plunge on an expensive keyboard.
So Blues are clickier? And where can I get a tester? I'm interesting in Browns, can you describe those to me?
I've seen that link, that's what got my interest in mechanicals- I just wanted someone's personal response.
I'm probably going to get a Red or Blue then, thanks :)
Reds are really touchy. It is hard to interpret what they are describing for each Cherry MX switch just by reading. At least it was when I read into it.
Just some extra info since you're in the market:
Ah, well I love my cherry reds, they're smooth as hell and are fantastic for gaming in my opinion. Can't say I've used a ridiculous amount of other switches, but blacks felt virtually the same, and I don't really like the bumps of blues and browns, but it's all in personal preference, because a guy I work with loves his blues. I'll let someone else take over in other switch experiences.
I started on blues and went to browns. I much prefer them now. My current keyboard is a Ducky Shine 2 tenkeyless. The switches and key caps are so nice.
I switched to Browns afters using blues. I think it's a good balance between typing and gaming. No clickyness but there is still a tactile bump. Blues were fine until I had to start double tapping in directions for some games. Much faster to do on Browns.
Browns are the best all-rounder switch you can get. Reds are very linear, browns have a really nice tactile bump. Get browns and you won't regret it.
Yeah, I'm a gamer but also a programmer, so middle ground sounds just about right. Browns sound pretty good!
What has a sexiness of 10/10?
Keeping it Blue, liked them from your BW, good.
Any idea the brand of desk that is? I really like it and am looking for a new one. BTW nice rig. I wanna do a color theme sometime but just too lazy haha
I like what's best, nothin' wrong with that! Not sure why you sent me a PM saying, "enjoy the downvotes faggot" and started downvoting all of my comments in this thread just for liking a popular case. But whatever floats your boat, man.
He just wants to be the next "le master trole 2014"
What is that keyboard? I really dig it.
Just started using it with the browns today, love it so far.
Indeed, fantastic keyboard. I was a little concerned losing my number pad but its been okay so far.
Wow! I wish I could get a computer setup like that! Quick question, where did you get that desk?
Lol. The real question is how do you break a blackwidow?
It's not like I snapped the board in half, just my right shift key switch broke so I just moved on to the next one!
Oh ok. I was sitting here thinking that you smashed it while playing Super Meat Boy or something
Never actually played it. After hearing how hard it is, I just don't think I want to set myself for that much failure.
It's hard, but not impossible. Give it a go, it's a hell of a lot of fun!
Right shift key? What in the world did you use your right shift key for?
Capitalizing letters typed with my left hand.
Huh, you just made me rethink how I type. I've always capitalized with my left hand.
You could replace the switch you know.
Ya I know. I just put it away for a rainy day. I was already in the market for one, the switch just kind of pushed me actually do it.
My friend had one it died right after the warranty expired he was so pissed he took a hammer to it
Thanks! It's probably one of my favorite color combinations.
This is my favorite gaming setup and room I've ever seen. Pretty awesome, thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I love it too haha
1.Planning on getting matching case fans for the front?
Limited edition Achievement Hunter poster? Nice. Probably one of the best I've seen in a while.
Yup! Glad I was able to snag one up before they ran out.
Where did you get all those red cables. I really like that it all matches.
Sorry for the noob questions but do the 9 cables that corsair sell provide sufficient for all the cabling needs?
Hello. I'm probably going to sound pretty silly, but i've heard that putting your subwoofer close to your case could cause some magnetic issues. True or False? On topic, sick station.
Ya I've heard that. Honestly i think it's a very minuscule threat from what I understand. Nothing has happened yet, so fingers crossed!
I seen your post on a computer setup thread on 4chan, I posted my trash built computer setup.
Link? I've never browsed 4chan before.
That pano image was post to 4chan about 2 days ago, along with like 2 of the other pics
Well, I just took that panoramic today... so that's certainly interesting.
He asked for the link, now I'm interested...
4chan doesn't work that way, the threads only exist for 20 minutes after the last post in them, then they are purged. Ive been trudging thru archives but I dont think it got stored. I seen it, because the pano and the pic with the poster above the bed were posted. Doesnt matter 4chan has done weirder things.
Nice rig, where is the water pump/tank hidden for your water cooler?
It's a corsair H100i closed loop cooler, so the pump is built into the block, and the reservoir is in the radiator. Zero maintenance.
Thank you! Makes the overall build look cleaner.
Where are your hard drives in that case?
Not the greatest but here ya go:
Holy shit that is an awesome little website...
She is my pride and joy!
ITunes blows. Not that there is a correct software, but my solution is VLC. Sick rig!!
I've never really tried anything else. iTunes just seems simple and it's easy to buy some music from. What makes VLC superior?
Im not sure what that guy is talking about, if i am ignorant please inform me, but I thought VLC was mainly used as a video player, not that it cant do music; but I open up my vlc and there are no options for library setup/management.
Ya, I've only seen VLC used as a video player but maybe he knows something I don't? I've definitely seen foobar2000 being used a lot. I might look into it. The one thing that currently holds me to itunes besides buying my music is that Google Play Music automatically backs up all my itunes media to it so i have it directly on my phone without taking up space. So it's seamless transition from desktop to my phone without syncing or dragging and dropping.
See, everyone has their reason for what they use.
Google Play Music can automatically back up any folder you choose to. I have mine set to backup F:\My Music and it works flawlessly. foobar2000 is also incredibly more powerful than iTunes. It can do file management, and has endless possibilities through the add ons. For example, if I use it to rip CD's in 320kbpsVBR. Sometimes, I can only find a download for the FLAC version of an album I want, so I convert it right through foobar with a simple right click, convert to, VBR.
Well I'll be damned. I'll check it out tomorrow. And Logans video was the first time I had heard of foobar, looked overwhelming the first time I watched it but I'm a quick leaner so I think I can handle it. Thanks for the heads up!
Don't try to jump into it right away, I'd say watch the first video one week when you've got an hour or so to mess around with it. Go slowly, then watch the next video the week after, then the next video later. My favorite part about it all is the file organization. My music library is automatically perfectly organized.
If I may make a recommendation:
You could always use spotify
The Kate Upton poster is the best.
Kate Upton is the best.
What power supply is it you used?
Corsair AX750. Just used some Goo Gone to get rid of the pesky stickers.
I need to thank you properly for linking that sweet ass affordable desk that seems to perfectly go for my future station, I'm tired of using the floor.
Haha before that I was using some cheap Walmart desk that was missing half its pieces. Would definitely recommend this desk.
Using a cheap Walmart desk right now would not recommend
How is that desk by the way. was thinking about picking it up from ikea
Pretty great so far. I think my only complaint is that the front of the drawers, for whatever reason, attract finger prints and I find myself wiping it off. Cable management is excellent as well.
Awesome will have to pick one up for myself real soon, nice pc build btw
Hey ! I see you have a Ps4 controller in the drawer ! Do you own a ps4 or do you use it for pc ? If so how is it that working for you ? Nice setup btw !
I use it for the PC, actually. And works flawlessly, haven't had a problem yet!
How do games recognize it ? Like and xbox controller ? And do you use any software to run it or does it work directly when plugged in with sony drivers ? Sorry for so many questions i am wondering about buying the ds3 or ds4 .
You just use a microUSB cable to plug it in, then you download some program, can't remember off the top of my head and I'm on mobile so I can't find the link, but you basically run the program and then windows sees your DS4 as an Xbox controller.
I think you are talking about Ds3 tool i see so it works exactly like the ds3 Thank you for the help !
I just got one the other day for my pc, i can confirm it works great; also bluetooth works on my laptop, i dont have it in my desktop but i ordered a usb adapter coming soon
Be honest OP, this is the cleanest your room has been in a while.
The ROG Mars GPU would be perfect for that build, if I do say so myself.
Where did you get the Daft Punk poster/frame? Would love to pick that up myself.
It's post like these that give me inspiration to save up and have a gaming setup like this. Nice job man!
Very big fan of the poster above the bed.
I have 3 of the same posters (and the Nexus 7)! Ghosts, Battlefield 4, & Daft Punk. You outdo me in every other way though.
Sweet! The Ghosts poster is pretty cool imo. Game is a bit iffy on PC though.
Yeah. I've enjoyed BF4 (when it isn't crashing), but I've barely played Ghosts after the first week. Poster looks sweet though!
See, people have been complaining that BF4 has so many problems but I honestly haven't had a problem yet. Guess I'm lucky.
Oh, absolutely! Favorite duo of all time!
Dude... I fucking love everything about you and your bad ass room
Haha thanks man! Glad people are enjoying my own little space.
Picture of naked girl on wall,
Well she's not fully naked. Not lonely, have a nice niche of friends. Not a virgin, but I'm not going to argue my personal life over the internet with a random person who is just complaining to complain. And I'm sure I've accomplished plenty in my short time on this earth and I'm ambitious I'll conquer even more being on the right path in life.
