This Monitor - Computer Setup

I like how you list all of the items hooked up to your tv except the one thing that is actually showing on-screen. I see your little Apple TV trying to blend in with that speaker. Sneaky little device, that is.
Oh, oops, I completely forgot about that little box of goodness!
Do you use it a lot? I jailbroke mine and used it for a while but never had much of a use for it between all my other devices. I ended up giving it to my parents instead. Did you leave yours stock? If so, what do you mainly use it for?
Jailbroke mine the moment I got it. Initially used it as an iTunes rental box mainly, but now it's mainly used as a Plex client. I use it for Plex pretty much every day. Plex for Apple TV hasn't been updated in a while, which kinda sucks, but it's the best media streaming option I can get that doesn't involve a full on PC/Mac mini setup.
How come you don't just use XBMC on it? It's updated very frequently and doesn't require the use of a server machine. That's what I have my parent's aTV set up with and they love it. They mostly stream live tv through it, and other definitely legal things.
You make a good point. I kinda like Plex's ease of use and set up, but I haven't really looked into XBMC properly.
I always had better luck in XBMC than the Firecore media player. Then again, the aTV 2 isn't exactly a powerhouse when it comes to decoding videos so you may have made the right choice with Plex if you watch a lot of high bit rate rips. But give it a try, you may be surprised with the progress they have made recently.
I'd stop procrastinating if I were you... That duck looks like it's serious.
Somebody else uses the same mouse I do, I feel cool now. Nice choice!
What feet did you get for the monitor shelf? I have the same thing in red, and it's just too high.
11cm Capita legs from IKEA
I thought I had got the smallest ones. Thanks. Your setup is nice, and Luigi coffee cup is awesome.
How are the headphones? better then the AKG 240?
I haven't heard those AKGs, so can't really compare. I absolutely love these headphones though. Have been using them regularly for about 5 years now. They're not boomy in the bass department, but the detail and instrument separation is incredible. I found myself hearing aspects of my favourite songs I didn't even know we're there before.
Sweet...so audio technicas are good...thats nice.but would you say a good osund system is better then a headset that is NICE?
Generally headphones will sound better than speakers in the same price range, but there's always a place for speakers.
Ok i need this monitor shelf, do you happen to have a link to the page?
I bought a Lack shelf and Capita legs from IKEA. Screwed the legs into the shelf, and suddenly a nice monitor shelf!
Good idea. I'm a little disappointed Ikea doesn't offer any multilevel desks, or have proper options to do it yourself.
Trying to be helpful here, not an ass, but I think your heatsink is on sideways. I can't tell from the picture, but if there's exhaust to the right of the fan (the way that picture is oriented) I think it should blow out the back
Not quite! Notice the GPU is oriented a bit weirdly too? The entire motherboard is rotated 90 degrees, with airflow going bottom to top. The exhaust fan is just above the cooler. :)
I thought that looked weird. Thanks
More like Procrastination Masturbation Station.
Why is it that everyones U2711/2713 always looks so much bigger than mine. Makes me want a 30"
How do you like the keyboard?
It has made using any membrane keyboard feel like typing on a cheesecake by comparison. I love it.
Ha! Wow. You even have a turntable and vinyl collection I hope to build up.
I like that wallpaper. Could I get a copy?
Sure, I made a whole bunch of them by getting a bunch of included wallpapers from various versions of OS X, reducing them to a tiny resolution, and then blowing them back up to 2560x1440 to create the cool giant pixels effect.
